Nike Vapor Speed - Defective Air Support in Heel?

hmm...

Is the shoe still wearable even when it pops? i don't care about a hissing noise. did everyone who bought these shoes experience the breakage? also, where did it pop exactly, in the center of the bubble or somewhere else? i'm asking because i found a pair at nordstrom rack for 39.99.

Yeah, I would like to know too.

I have a local Niketown that has a rack full of the Light Blue Vapor Speeds (Federer) for $59.99. I would like to know if it would be worth it.

Nike's manufacturing processes have been the subject of much chagrin for years, given the movement towards more equitable labour practices. Nike continues to have factories in 3rd and 2nd-world countries where they can pay almost nothing for the labour, use faulty manufacturing techniques and sell their below-par products for a premium in developed nations across the globe. I'm not at all surprised that their shoes have a defect and that they are somewhat unwilling to 'make right.' I hope that they change a lot of their ideals.
Don't get me wrong, I know that quite a few major manufacturers (including Adidas) have the same business philosophy, but I still think that it speaks volumes when the word "Nike" has become a VERB in other languages that means "to f**k someone over."

Cheers!

you dont get as much support as the air "escapes" everytime your heel makes contact with the ground. I could compress the broken heel with my hands very easily (where as I couldnt do it with the good one).

mine popped (Obsidian) after 4 months. By then I already lost my receipt, the tennis store people probably know me since I buy all my stuff there but being in Japan I believe a replacement will be swiftly denied...

My previous pair breath free II developed some sort of air bubble in the front outsole. It makes a little squeaky sound. Being a big fan of these air zooms (from oscillate) air vapor is the worst by far!

first, sorry to bring upa reallynold thread, but i wasn't the first.....................

i am 5'8 130pounds, small guy and yet the air bubble bursted. Actually, from the looks of it, there is a cut propably originated from the "cage" around the air bubble.

I guess my attraction from the good looks of the shoes is too much for me. I bought them and it's indeed comfortable. Like everyones, the air bubbles popped too in my right shoe.

Yep - same here...but I got a pair of the Vapor Speeds in Obsidian from last year's US Open collection.
Mine only started 'hissing' at the rear of the right shoe two weeks ago. Got a needle, heated it up and popped the offending cushion - they're still okay for a month or two yet.

I'm gonna try some Barricade IV's next just out of curiosity.

Its nothin to do with weight cause im 55kg and mine popped in exactly the same way as everyone elses! i have played 1 match in the popped vapour speeds and didn't really feel a difference. will they eventually become to uncomfortable to play in?

I don't feel anything difference at all and I've been playing in my 'cushion-popped' Vapors-Speeds for the last 3 weeks...the only annoying thing is a slight 'hiss' when I walk!

how do you know when it has popped, my pair occasionally make a squeak in the heel area, i am not worried yet...

You would definately know. Every step you take you hear a faint hiss if they're popped! Count yourself lucky that your's are okay because your in the minority

i must be really lucky....i got my first pair of white/silver/obsidian in July and they lasted until october because the soles were slightly worn, but the swoosh on the inside of the shoe fell off and you could see right to my sock!I ordered a pair of Obsidian/White/Yellow ones in november and now they are almost worn to the point where i need new ones. No heel problems except the back part of the heel rubber wears right to the plastic heel cage and i am afraid it might pop, but hopefully no unfortunate end for some of my favorite shoes!

i have had a pair like that, it popped after a week. I took them back 2 the shop n the man gave me a new pair strait away, but these have popped aswell. i cant be botthered to get amnother pair eventho they look sooooo nice. i am only 13, 5 ft 1.5 in

I think I am going to ask a guy at Nike Outlet to get me a new pair cuz the bubble popped. They fall for everything. Last time I told them that there was a mark on my shoe and they gave a ten $ discount

After 10 months the bubble on my right heel popped. Will Nike still replace these if I send em in?

I think you're pretty lucky that you even got 10 months worth of use out of a pair of Nike shoes. So I'd say consider yourself lucky and move on and buy some new shoes. I think you got well your money's worth out of them. ;)

yeah if they had a 6 month warranty ont the vapor speeds then there would be alot of them sent back due to the air bubbles failing.
