Nike Vapor X

God I hope they are better than the Flyknit versions of the 9.5. I really loved my regular Vapor 9.5's, bought a pair of the flyknit versions and HATED them. Some of the worse shoes I've ever worn on the court. Finally just wore them as regular walk around shoes as I was in massive pain when I played w/ them. They were a terrible transition from the regular version.
Strange, what type of pain did you have? I have both the regular and flyknit 9.5s and I found the flyknits both more comfortable and more durable! The toe area is tearing on my 9.5s but the flyknits are both fine, with the same amount of mileage on them. Only thing with the flyknits is I'd like to have bought them 0.5 size smaller but nothing that can't be fixed with a thicker/extra sock.

Really? I'm a 3.5-level player and didn't have any issues. Only regret was not going down 0.5 in size, and waiting too long to pull the trigger to downsize.

Vapor X Kyrie’s are going fast. Nike App sold out, TW running out of various sizes.

Missed out on the RF/Jordan’s every time due to ultra limited supply, glad TW was able to stock some of the Kyrie so I at least had the opportunity to buy them.

The front crease where it bends when you run forward was digging into my foot & overall pain in the arch area. Just an unbelievably uncomfortable shoe in general which is odd as all the flyknit shoes in their running line I loved & were very comfortable.

This happened to me as well with the flyknits, I believe it was because it was infused with a harder plastic material unlike their running shoes. They do eventually break in but the first 2 weeks were quite painful which made me hate the shoe. I hope they soften up the flyknit this time around.

Interesting, didn't experience anything like this - maybe because mine were 0.5 size too big, or we have a different foot shape. It did feel stiff to begin with but after 3/4 hours it started to soften and now they are really supple (have had 2 pairs on rotation with some other shoes since summer 2017). For example, was playing daily over the christmas period for 2-3hrs a day, pretty high intensity practise with my brother in singapore, and my feet are absolutely fine, no pain, great breathability. However, my with regular 9.5s, I feel like my feet are tired within an hour in warm weather.

I have wide feet... I wore size 11 in the 9.5s and fit perfectly. In the X, the same size was uncomfortably tight. I half-sized up, it was snug but fit much better. After about 30 minutes of court time, the shoe felt fine and I wear the Nike dri-fit cushioned socks which are not super thick but well-cushioned for playing 2+ hours on court.
I need your opinion as I came from Vapor 9.5 and also have wide foot .. I think I am an 2E..
I normally wear US size 8.5 on Vapor 9.5 and the width fit is perfect.. and wondered if I go half-size up would be the best choice since there's no local shop in my country which sell this shoe..

I read your previous post and wondered about your wide foot whether E or 2E if it refers to shoe sizing guide line on TW learning center..
If your size is US 11 and assume you are on E width or even more on toebox area, it means that your width size is close to 4.3" and you decided to go half-size up and still felt snug width.. please advise..

They do make wide versions of the Vapor X... your best bet is to call TW and talk to a customer service rep.

So, I tried a pair and went up a half-size (from 11 to 11.5) and the fit is better. I still have a few pairs of 9.5s - one of which was new in the box until recently - and honestly the 9.5s still have a better fit for me. And, yes, I agree that even though the Xs have wide widths the lack of color options have turned me off of buying them.

Good luck!

Thanks .. I decide to buy half-size up for Vapor X.. I still have five pairs in good condition of Vapor 9.5 ( one pair is new.. I have kept inside the box for almost one and half years, I was worry the glue would desintegrate when I am wearing it so I must soon wear it ).. however the glue quality of Vapor 9.5 released on AO 2017 and onwards was awesome... Two years have passed , no major problem on the outsole glue and upper material for my four pairs of Vapor 9.5

I am not sure if any of us ever complained about the lack of inner side out sole just under the side wear protection area. Most older shoes from Nike and current Adidas have extra out sole from toe toward inner side. Vapor x cage 3 or prestige all lack of it. It make the side wear very fast and hurt mid sole. I am wondering what f there is enough attention on the lacking to make Nike enhance it. If a ubersonic can do it, why can’t nike?

Similar situation here! I had a 9.5 new in the box for about a year before I wore it starting last month. I don't wear through my soles so unless the upper explodes I can usually wear my Vapors for at least a couple of seasons before the soles lose their grip. But the new 9.5 has had no issues at all and feel great.

Incidentally, I went to a local tennis shop (don't hate me TW admins!) and the owner let me try on about every brand of tennis shoe available. Asics, New Balance, Diadora and Adidas. I was really hoping to transition to Asics but for my feet the New Balance in wide sizes fit well and the Diadoras fit well, too. I'm so torn with which shoe I'll eventually switch to but with my newest 9.5 pair and couple of other 9.5s that still have some time to go before the soles lose grip, I won't have to make a decision until at least Fall of 2019.

Yes it's terrible.. makes everyone pronate inwards.. very strange from Nike, everything else is great..

I needed a full size bigger moving from 9.5 to X, in terms of both length and width.

Yup. I know, it's a little lackluster. I can wear a 9.5 in the wide, but have to go up to a 10.0 in a regular Vapor X.
I am about to follow this forum suggestion to go half size up for Vapor X tour..
I wear normal size US 8.5 with Vapor 9.5.

I had a chance to go half-size up and try on Cage 3 from my friend with US size 9 . I knew the length was bit shorter and snug width in Cage 3... And size 9 gave me comfortable fit ..

How do you compare the width fit of Vapor X and Cage 3 as I could not try on Vapor X since no body possessed this shoe..
If it has the same snug width as Cage 3 , so going up half size would be the best bet for me to buy Vapor X..
Thanks

They're longer than the cages for sure. I've never been a dedicated vapor user - but length wise I think the 10 is fairly similar to the 9.5. Most people just comment on the slight change in width.

I recently changed to ASICS resolution 7. Never looked back. My nikes just didn’t last. My air zoom ultra RCT lasted me a month I think. And my vapour x outside sole vapourised after a few hours

For me at least the biggest difference is the volume of the shoe and not width per se. My foot tends to be more high volume, which would push me towards a wider width in some models as a work around. Vapor 9.5 fit well but that volume difference is what is driving me away from the X. The Cage 3 is only slightly better. Thankfully took advantage of some sales the past couple years and still have 2 pairs of regular 9.5's winding down in the rotation and 3 pairs of flyknits (2 brand new) so by the time I need another hopefully something will be out that is a good fit for my fit.

I found some of the Vapor Prestige models on sale and took a chance on a couple of pair. They are absolutely terrific. As a long-term vapor 9.5 devotee I honestly struggled to tell the difference. There’s terrific support, lots of cushioning, and stability. I played them today and it was like coming home! And, at half the price!

There are different versions of Vapors ? with different fit ? I had no idea

I don’t agree with the half size up. I wore a 10 in the 9.5 and still wear a 10 in the X. Same exact fit length wise. The biggest difference for me was how much narrower the X is, but I’m happy about that since i have narrow feet. The X is hands down the most comfortable tennis shoe I’ve ever worn.
I give 35 private lessons a week in them and they get more comfortable the more i wear them.

if I have Medium width feet, do you think Vapor X would work ok ? so many people say Vapor X is narrow. I am still searching for the new shoes.

I should elaborate. The narrower part of the shoe is midfoot where the arch area is. The toebox has plenty of room as does the heel. For me anyways. I switch back and forth between 9.5 and X sometimes and the only difference I can feel is the midfoot area.
Hope that helps some.

Oh and with the 9.5 I always had to put insoles in because they had zero arch support. Haven’t needed a single insole since moving to the X.

The X runs much narrower than the 9.5. I can’t get my foot in the X while the 9.5 fit my foot perfectly.

I have bought Vapor X with half-size up from what I wore with Vapor 9.5... And tried it on at home with medium thick of sock, the width felt good though it was just the first impression as I have wider foot ( I thought it was a 2E referring to TW guide ). Soon will be worn on court for next couple days..

I read this thread from beginning.. someone who has most Vapor 9.5, fly-knit, Vapor X suggested to stay on same size... he has narrow / medium width. Somebody else also has narrow or medium width .. So I concluded of those who have narrow or medium width would feel comfortable to wear the same size...

I also read other poster who have wider foot .. they tried it on with half - size up and seemed good to him..I followed this post and bought half-size larger... I'll write my report on next few days of wearing this shoe on court..

Anyone here wear smaller sizes? I've been using the Vapor 9.5's for the last few years now and have always bought UK size 6.5 (EU40.5, US7.5?) as they fit perfectly although I normally wear UK size 7 shoes but that does differ from company to company. I don't have any shops anywhere near me to try some Vapor X's on so should I risk UK 6.5 or go up to UK 7?

I used this guideline to determine my foot width category and read other posters and found that I had wider foot with 2E..

Then I decided to buy a half size larger than I normally wear with Vapor 9.5.. It seemed that it was fine to try it on at home but I will wear my Vapor X next week on court..
