I read the descriptions of the pro and challenge: middle sounds like only the pro will have the air unit in the forefoot, both models will have it in the heel.

Never tried a GP line before. What are peoples thoughts on the GPC1 versus the Vapor 9.5 line?
I mean nobody has worn the GPC1 it just dropped today

If you want to know about he GP turbo relative to the v9.5 it’s a maximal shoe. The full length strobal zoom unit combined with a long shank that interacts well with the rocker outsole. You’ll have way more cushion and a slightly more narrow fit in the GP. V9.5 has better out of box traction, light/adaptive uppers, and Breathability.

in short, GP turbos (& hopefeullly the GPC1) are heavy cushioned shoes. Vapor 9.5s are light and nimble with minimal foam cushion and one heel zoom unit

Also it seems like there won’t be Zoom Strobel, which is a single full length Zoom unit. The product description on both TW and Nike website says separate heel and forefoot units. I hope Nike didn’t ruin the feel …

Overall design excluded, I just don't get the colorways and details of this launch. Just the wht/blk, blk/wht, and the why/blk/grn - none seem to match the spring colors; they are neutual a guess but also thats pretty boring. The green one is the most exciting and it's kinda meh, too much white, the toe area is going to be gross after two weeks of play. I would take the Tiafoe red/maroon color or even a mostly blue that matches the spring Advantage shorts. I miss when they launched the shoes with a statement color. There is also a lack of little details like the Vapor's tech specs on the side, or ANYTHING interesting in the presentation. Maybe there will be something fun for AO or at least they perform well on court. :X3:

I miss those bright statement colors as well, really increased the hype for a new shoe launch

Built on the widest last ever for a Nike tennis shoe - Well, guess I won't be buying
I love Zoom cushioning but will be sticking to the Asics Court FF3.

Can always double socks & see how it goes. Nike has a great return policy
I’ll try them on at my local tennis shop. I actually wish Nike still made the Zoom Zero that Jannik still wears. They’re better fitting for my narrow feet than the GP Turbo. And if this shoe is even wider than the Turbo, it’s very likely going to be a no for me.

I got my pair last week and have been wearing them non-stop since then. Definitely the most comfortable Nike shoe since the GP Turbo. It also seems to have taken a little of the bulk out of the GP Turbo design. It just feels faster and seems to ride slightly lower than the GPTs. I've been wearing the Vapor 11s as my competition shoe but can never wear them as my "just walking around shoes" after hitting. The GPC1s are totally different in that I can play in them and not be in a hurry to get out of them. Super comfortable compared to any of the current Nike offerings.

UPS says mine will come today - just in time for a night of pickleballing to break them in.

I dare say no there's no break-in necessary. Or at most no long period to break in. It's rare for me to say that but other than having the upper loosen up a bit to become even more comfortable, these are have been near 100% comfortable out of the box. The only other shoe I can say that about is the now defunct Zoom Court NXTs.

That’s good. Did you go with your normal GPT size? I wore 10 in GPT and 9.5 in NXT (and most other tennis shoes).

I can play competitively with the GPT right out of the box. Usually just have to retighten the laces after an hour of play. They stretch considerably.

Same size in both the GPC1 and GPT -- Men's US 9. I also ultimately went down a half size to 8.5 in the Zoom NXT simply due to the stretch of the upper.

My first impression was that the GPC1 felt "short" and that it could run small, but I had the chance to wear my size 9 along side a 9.5 and there was just too much foot movement in the half size larger so I stayed in my normal size. I'm finding that the GPC1s are starting to relax in the upper a little and that's helping with the feeling of being short in length. I have a medium width foot so a half size larger might be needed for someone with a wide foot. Also, there's no way to create a heel lock with the laces. There are no extra eyelets.

What other maximalist shoes is the GPC toebox width comparable to? (when talking about shoes in the same US size)

Initial try on and thoughts right from the box...

*Initial step in bounce is not there or not as present as new GP Turbos
*Uppers fit my foot a little better (even without the extra lace hole for the heel lock down)
*True to size for me
*Lateral cage/containment plastic is soft and flexible
*They feel lighter and less clunky

I'll still give these a whirl because I need a replacement for my dwindling supply of GP Turbos.

I’m starting to think it compares to the eclipsion 4. Toe box is wide enough until the mid foot when you run into that TPU containment piece. That killed my left foot last night. The Eclipsions killed my right foot.

I’m going to play around with lacing and casual wear around the house today.

Seems to be such a different fit and feel from the Gp turbos. This is concerning for me as I only play the turbos these days.

so it is safe to say that you disagree with the statement that these shoes "have been built on a brand new last which is going to be the widest fitting shoe in the Nike lineup"?

Yeah, it’s not. The original Vapor Pros were wider. I might just need fabric based lateral support. TPU and other plastic overlays are too rough for me. That being said, now I’m eyeing the new Eclipsion 5s… hoping they fit wider.

Cushioning is good but not the wow factor of the gp turbo. fit is good. locks in the heel well. Better than the Vapor 11 in that regard. They don't feel like anything special walking around. Definitely seems like a performance based shoe where the shoe's attributes will show up (energy return, etc). They run a little short so maybe go a half size up. Seems like it will be a good, solid shoe but i dont think i will be spending my hard earned dollars to give it a proper playtest...
