Cushioning is good but not the wow factor of the gp turbo. fit is good. locks in the heel well. Better than the Vapor 11 in that regard. They don't feel like anything special walking around. Definitely seems like a performance based shoe where the shoe's attributes will show up (energy return, etc). They run a little short so maybe go a half size up. Seems like it will be a good, solid shoe but i dont think i will be spending my hard earned dollars to give it a proper playtest...
Agree that cushioning isn't a wow for this one. I'm still hopeful. I'm now breaking in a half-size up for my playtest (got both 9.5 and 10 directly from Nike). I hope the half size up and thorlos will be fine. Also hopeful that the half size up will address the TPU lateral support issue bugging my left foot.

I'm not sold on the GP Challenge as a cushioned shoe thus far. Trying to change my own mind, though, because GP Turbos are hard to find these days...

Any play court nxts that have tried the new GPs?

Am I correctly picking up that the nxt is dead and long live the gp?

I bought a pair to wear while coaching/doing lighter sessions. Normally wear Vapor Pro 1s or 9.5s in size 10 for match play.

Did a fairly intensive ball machine session with them this morning and really enjoyed them. The energy return and lockdown for lateral movement felt significantly better than the Vapor Pro 2s I tried. Mine weighed in at 15.3oz, which was definitely noticable, as was being a little higher off the ground. No idea what the original GPs felt like, but I enjoyed the hour I spent with these.

I played 90 minutes in the NXTs when they first came out. Didn't keep them. The heel was so stiff and the Zoom cushion felt like there was nothing there.

I'll play in the GP Challenges tonight, but will bring a pair of GPTs for backup.

Stock, I agree. Except that with my insoles, NXTs are awesome. Most comfortable and "athletically flexible" show I've had. Was coming off many years of Vapors.
Sounds like this new shoe might be a cross between the gp turbo / nxts / and vapors.

Nothing will feel like the responsiveness you get from full length Zoom Strobel. The unit sits directly under the insole and isn’t covered by a layer of foam. The encapsulated Zoom units will never feel as responsive, but once broken in, they’re just as functional as the Strobel version and more stable. I’m eagerly anticipating the midsole teardown by Footdoctor Zach to see how thick the Zoom units are.

I agree. I played in the GP Challenges last night. My feet didn't hurt and I had enough cushioning. I didn't notice the shoe much until lateral movements when my foot slammed into the cage unit. Not comfortable. I still enough backups of the GP Turbos that I don't want to transition to the GP Challenge quite yet.

I might experiment with a sale pair of the NB CT Rally...

So these were worse in all perceivable areas VS the GP turbo?

I’m going to try the Pro version too. Yes, no Zoom in forefoot, but the uppers seem more comfortable.

Great feedback. Can you expound on this a bit more. Is it hard plastic on the side that digs - too rigid. Or is your foot sliding in the shoe and hitting the side wall?

The heel cushioning of the GP Turbos has kept me playing. About through my 3rd pair so the new model is very exciting imo.

Thanks

I think the TPU is just too good at doing its job of containment. My foot doesn't slide in the shoe, but the forces put upon the lateral TPU cage is too uncomfortable for me. There's a very sharp contrast between that TPU cage and fabric-based containment (of the GPT) that has a more give before ultimately stopping.

These are the ones I'm currently wearing. Again..for me..the closest shoe to the GP Turbo in terms of comfort but the GP Turbos were never my go-to for match play. I'm used to much more rigid shoes so this was a welcome change.

The one thing they have going for them is that they're Model Year 2024.... *shrug*
Damn….. I thought at the least the upper would be more breathable and the traction maybe a bit better

sounds like GPT>GPC in all aspects

Well, OK. The GPC is more breathable. I didn't perceive any differences in traction.

GP turbo has too much cushion for me, even though its comfortable, I do feel sluggish on court when I'm tired. That shoe is very bottom heavy...Based on previous review on GP Challenge above, sounds like it will suit me better than Turbo

Nice! Just got mine. Hilarious to me that a size 12 in these is a little smaller than a size 11.5 in the zoom nxts.

First reaction is these gp1s look/feel promising.

Unisex sizing but I'd prefer it without the Osaka branding. Nothing against Osaka. I'm just against wearing player branded items. That's what killed the Cage 4s for me when they started branding them all with Rafa's bull logo.

what shoe is the toebox width comparable to? (please specify if there were differences in the size you chose)
I don’t really pay attention to this.

But if it helps. Zoom NXT 11.5 feels bigger in there than gp1 12s.

For me, I’ve been size 12 in every show I’ve worn for the past decade+ until the nxt.

It maybe feels like the toebox is just a tiny smidge shorter than vapor 9s 10s etc. — the shoes I wore forever before nxts.

Wow. If Nike started branding all their stuff with player names/logos, they'd lose me 100% Dating back to roughly 7 or 8 years ago, the Nike offerings have ranged from okay to lackluster for me. Throw in a branded shoe and I'm totally over it.

I wish I had more Fed branded stuff honestly. It doesn't bother me so much.

Nike was on fire last year. In retrospect we will see that and 2023 will go down like 2015 in the history of NikeCourt.

WTH is performance fit?

Not really sure. Also, he talks about the weight being an issue but the GP Turbo was even heavier. My GPC1s come in at 14.8 oz and my GPTs come in at 15.5 oz. Both men's same size (US 9). Also, I can't co-sign his belief that the Vapor 11 has better lockdown than the GPC1. The Vapor 11 is my competition shoe and there's definitely more movement in the heel area for me than the GPC1. My heel is secured better in the GPC1.

The full length zoom is a bit more expensive to make. From early Nike released info these come with two separate zooms and it turned out to be the case on the final product. Not gonna say I like this idea. No more full length zoom in their tennis lines this year.

Played a little with these yesterday.

Nice shoes but I think overall a little underwhelming on the court.

The fit is a little odd. Zach calls out the tongue fitment for example.

I like them, but unless they break in a bit I don’t think I’d re-buy. Feels like a step down from the NXTs. That’s not considering price. Considering price….. well it’s really disappointing. $170 for gp1s. And no one seemed like the NXTs so kept getting those for like $70.

Forefoot cushioning is way more plush in the NXTs for those looking for a comparison.

The React NXT or the Zoom Court NXT?
