How much does this shoe stretch when playing? They fit fine and snug now while trying them on, might be worried they wil be too tight during the summer?

Is this still the most comfortable shoe? People used to suggest gel resolutions but I never found those even close the the turbos

I wear the exact same nike zoom cage 4 in 10.5, and you should be able to go 10.5 in gp challenge 1. I bought both for first time and tried the cage 4 first and am loving them. They do loose there stiffness and response after a bit of play but they are very durable. The gp challenge 1 i tried on in my house and it fit good so you should be fine.

How do these fit? I wear an 10.5 in Zoom Cage 4s but an 11 in other Nike models.
They run short, which is odd because typically size issues come from width but my big toe was right against the front of the shoe, had to go up 1/2 size. Ultimately didn't like them and returned them.

I got a pair of these last week. So far the verdict is mixed. The positives begin with my opinion that they are absolutely the best looking tennis shoes on the market, so much so that I've been wearing them as a daily fashion sneaker. Second, they are very comfortable, much more so than most Addidas Barricades that I've been wearing for 20 years.

Possible down sides are that they don't have the same the ankle lockdown I'm used to with my trusty Addidas, and they are less stiff than the Barricades which translates into slightly less stable performance on lateral movement.

It could be that I need some more time in the shoes to get used to their character, but as of now, I'm considering using these as practice shoes while continuing to depend on my Barricades for competition.

BTW, I did a thing. If you go with your usual size, you'll end up with a (snug) performance fit. I ended up going a half size up for more room all around, even in my orthotics. I'd say these shoes are a generous medium if you go that route.

I would buy shoes that had "innoVAShaun" on the back and tongue before I would buy rafa shoes. That ain't no jive!

These are solid shoes if you want something with a lot of cushion. I've never tried the CT Rally but these have a nice lively, springy feel to them as is to be expected with Nike's zoom setup. Sizing is an issue. They definitely run short, in my TTS (10) my big toes were pressed up against the shoe, so I tried a half size up (10.5) and the length felt good but the rest of the shoe's sizing felt a little too big and loose to my preferences. The shoe doesn't have great containment to begin and the half size up just made for a sloppy fit I personally didn't like, but who knows how your experience would go. I was able to remedy this a bit by buying a women's pair in a size 12W/10.5M and the fit was much better as a last used for women's shoe is going to be overall smaller than a men's.

I will reiterate that they definitely run short length wise, and the outsole extends up to the front of the shoe so you can definitely feel that ultra hard piece of outsole, which can be a little uncomfortable. I'd give them like a C+, great cushioning and outsole is durable but the shoe is not suited to my play style. I feel like the shoe has issues with support and containment and you sit on top of the midsole rather than being lower and more connected to the ground, so the shoe lacks that feeling of being totally connected to your foot when you are running around.

i used to have GP turbo and that shoe after about 2 months or so, the cushioning starts to make Squeeky kind of noise when walking... I wonder if this new model does the same thing ?? its kind of annoying when wearing it for casual purposes. On the court playing, its not really noticeable

Thanks a lot! Really helpful insight! Seems a lot of red flags

One last follow up from me. I had the opportunity to play a USTA Singles Tourney last weekend. 3 matches, 6 sets. 4.0 level.

Final observations:

The cushion is just as good as the GP Turbo. Maybe better. My legs are sore, my back is sore, but my feet and knees are fine. True the Challenge 1 does not have the same squish, but they are very effective.

The fit is better. With the Turbo’s I would have had some normal blister, etc. toe damage after playing that much across a couple days. The wider Challenge toe box is superior to the Turbo fit.

The breathability is better. Turbo’s hold so much heat and take forever to dry. Challenge 1 is much less hot on foot and airs out much quicker.

The Tongue should be slightly wider. This has had no impact on me but its just a design mistake. I prefer the tongue composition to the Turbo - the extra padding is nice - but no doubt they screwed it up a but and didn’t make it wide enough.

Durability is the same.

As someone who played 2 years exclusively in Turbo’s, and was nervous to try something new, I prefer the Challenge 1.

I think you’re the first person to come out and say you prefer the GPC1 to the GPT. I have also tried both & just can’t agree on the cushion comp. The full length zoom is definitely more comfy in the midfoot region. I think the GPC1 is a fine shoe & might have a better upper in the long term compared to the GPT, but GPT wins in the cushion department against any shoe Nike has made in a long time for tennis players

Picked up a pair over the weekend and a pair of Vapor 11’s.

Vapor 11’s felt more comfortable but the shoe felt bulky and was just too big in general. Perhaps if I sized down in the Vapors it would have made a different but the fit with the GPC1’s were spot on. Tried the GPT in my regular size and a size up when they came out and sent them both back. I was reluctant to try the GPC1 knowing the fit issues but glad I did. Haven’t worn them out of the house yet so we’ll see how they feel on the court.

I’m surprised Osaka switched to the actual model and not stick with the GP Turbos or even a hybrid of the former and newer model if not a the GP Turbos to look like the GP Challenge 1s

Interesting, just goes to show how subjective this is because I've played in both and while both are comfortable I find the Challenge's to have a superior cushion but that's because I think the firmer and springy zoom set up is "better" for tennis or anything athletic. The Turbos had a more "comfortable" midsole if you just value something that is plush and pillow like for you feet but I don't think it's the best for performance, the mushy, soft feeling while nice makes the shoe feel like there's a lag but the Challenge has that energy return that helps propels you.

Nike online shop here had quite massive discount so I got a pair for about US$81, free shipping as well. Haven't played in them but walked around home. Cushion is plenty but agree not at GPT level, very good overall. Jumping and moving do seem nimble. I don't feel they are top heavy like Foot Doc Zach said. The immediate drawback I agree is the tongue. It should have been gusseted or even full sock like as Court FF2/3 is. I have thick feet, it's hard to have the tongue covers my foot. Using my own orthotics makes the matter worse. I ordered my size and it is a performance fit (a bit tight but not uncomfortable). I don't have long feet so going half size up will sure be too long.

First impression, it didn't "wow" me like GPT but it's not bad at all. However, I am prepared to hate it after playing because the tongue might annoy me big time, given the fit, wearing thicker socks might not work.

Glad I sent mine back for a refund. Guy I know says the place he ordered from would not take them back. He said they are great for mowing.
