Anyone got an idea of a date on these yet btw?
 
Nike got me back and I will say the hypersmash is pretty good so far.
Even on dry and awful clay courts, claybreaker did ok.
If you like sliding, the claybreaker sole is 100% for you.
I more like to have grip but I'll get used to it.
 
Alright, I've used these twice for about 4 hours.
I really like them.
I was skeptical but bought into the hype of how cool the yellow looked. Even though I'm annoyed with Nike not even using a modicum of their performance tech in them.
I digress.....

The fit is great, I've always been a size 11 and that's what I got. The uppers are snug but comfortable and I feel they'll loosen up due to the leather more so than a TPU upper. A little extra room for my big toe but just enough where there isn't too much material in the toebox above my foot/toes. Also no uncomfortable bending/folding due to extra material. This was my main complaint with the normal Vapor 12 and I don't think I could wear the normal ones because of it.

They also feel light and quick and exactly what I want from a Vapor. The only downside to that is they don't feel as substantial as the Vapor X (which was my absolute favorite clay court shoe). So they can feel a little cheap but, again, they feel quick and nimble.
Also, I think the full length outsole stiffens them up a bit, which is a positive. I tried the hardcourt version on at a store and they seemed like they flexed more than I wanted. I kind of like or am used to stiffer shoes.

Claybreaker, still the most needless innovation ever. I do think you get a little less grip, which is annoying as it can be hard to keep the courts pristine and not dry here in FL. The tradeoff is I think it makes it easier to slide, but I'd rather have the grip.
So Nike PLEASE just go back to traditional herringbone.

Overall, very positive and I am very happy to have them. These will be my main shoe so I may update more if anything of consequence happens.
 
Here's another thought, that I think is meaningful. At a minimum, it is worth what you paid to read it...

If you loved the Vapor Pro (the original) you are better off with the hypersmash than the Vapor 12.

Here's why, Vapor Pro was lightweight, mostly mesh upper with traditional lacing, partial slipper tongue, plastic shank, and thats about it.
This is nearly exactly like the Hypersmash except it has the fake leather, thicker tongue, and symmetric lacing.
The latter two are improvements over the Vapor Pro for me. The thicker tongue is great, I got lace bite with the thin neoprene tongue of the VP1, and the asymmetric lacing seemed like a trendy gimmick.

That's my nickels worth of opinions.

I haven't worn the Vapor 12 extensively, just trying it on in store. But I do yes. The Vapor 12 was a little uncomfortable at the big toe where your foot bends. The TPU pinched or folded in a little too much on my foot.
When I went down half a size then the shoe was too tight.
I think the tongue is a bit more padded on the normal 12 but so far the Hypersmash is padded enough to not be uncomfortable.
 
Had to return these, gave me a really bad blister on my pinky toe after just a hour. Could really feel my foot moving a bit and the toe rubbing off and on against the side. These fit the same length wise as the 12's but the the hypersmash had a lot more depth inside the shoe. Also the lack of a runners knot was noticeable and affected the lockdown. I suspect if there was a runners knot I would be less likely to get a blister. On the positive end I liked how these not only felt lighter but the weight was evenly distributed in the upper. The 12s have all that TPU wrap covering the interior of the shoe and is a bit notable
 
Anyone have any idea if there will be furure clay court colorways?

These are my new clay shoes and curious if I need to hurry and stock up on the yellow.
 
Niice shoe; however, if there’s no clay court version then it’s a no go for me - even though I’m in Europe this autumn - and no doubt for many others. The new ON Fire looks niice, has a clay court sole and is almost certainly going to be available in Australia, unlike the vast majority of Nike options.

I just can’t get behind Nike tennis anymore. They clearly don’t prioritize the sport; it’s understandable because mainstream sports bring in a lot more profit. That’s always been the case, but Nike used to push creative boundaries with their tennis footwear, not anymore. It’s also evident in how they’re willing to let go of their signature athletes and not match competitive offers from other brands.
