NikeCourt Zoom Vapor 12

yes, the oustole for both of them.

Sorry dude, I forgot to get back here

VP1: first, the feeling on court is better with this one piece outsole. way more contact with the court surface despite that massive shank. In general this traction is less durable though, simply because of the softer rubber and thin outsole combination

V12: feeling on court is more elevated in a height sense. That massive shank does remove some connection to the court surface. In regards to traction durability, more durable than the VP1, but mainly due to the fact the outsole is so thick. Rubber is also soft like VP1

In a nutshell, I feel more connected to the court with my VP1 but I expect my V12s to outlive the VP1 life with the same amount of court time, just because it’s a very thick outsole

Thank you so much, I wear a 10.5 in the VP1 and could wear a 10 but the width is not enough. Could I get away with a 10 in the Vp12? How was the slickness compared to the vp12

Of course mate, happy to lend some thoughts

I wear a 9 in VP1 and 9 in V12. Problem is, v12 runs longer so I do feel some heel slippage due to my feet not filling out the shoe length wise. If you have a narrow foot, yes, but I think width is pretty similar VP1 to V12

The v12 traction is definitely stickier. VP1 has that bit of slick nature to promote sliding, esp in the forefoot section, plus the shank promotes sliding because it rides even with the traction. whereas the V12 is very sticky in heel and forefoot and you don’t get that slick sensation in the midfoot bc the shank on the v12 is recessed

In general I still think VP1 > V12 as a match day, ultra light, high performance shoe. However, v12 is still good

Really appreciate it! Will be getting a pair to try out.

Played with these now for a few sessions, and outside of the looks and basic comfort, I don't feel that this shoe provides the lateral stability (ie pushing off side to side quickly during a tough singles point) that I was getting from a Court FF or Lacoste AG Ultra. Anyone else have a similar opinion w/r to performance, or am I just being too picky? I really want to just main these shoes and be done with it as I think they look awesome, but can't really stomach giving up on performance for $170/pair
Can’t speak for you, but they are working for me great. I was in AG Ultras and was feeling to sluggish in them. Different play-styles maybe though.

I mean this is the key right.
The V12 have basically nothing new or exciting and are miles behind the competition at their price.
It's a nice looking shoe (I still prefer the X) and I'm sure at some point I'll get a pair.
But for now with no carbon shank, no innovative foam tech, they're playing the nostalgia card and I'm looking elsewhere.

Yes, it is exactly what everyone demanded, so that's why you're paying a premium.

I’m giving the clay ones a shot tonight. I have about 5 pairs of the Vapor Pro 2’s I’m just about done with so these are up next. I did not think I was going to like the Vapor X’s when they came out but looking back they were probably my favorite iteration.
Were you playing the VP2 clay versions? Interested to see your thoughts if so with the 12 clays.

Please let us know your thoughts, I am about to purchase a pair of 12 clay's and would love to hear your thoughts!

No just the regular VP2s.

Courts were dry and it was just dubs but not bad. I'd say they are not like the 9.5's but pretty close to the X's so far. I'm playing singles Friday AM and will have a much better update then.

Have you played with the x/vp1 clay outsole and if so how did it compare to those?

If you paid retail: no, you are not being too picky

These flagship shoes needs to be fully satisfying in order to justify the price point. Your concerns seem fully justified in my eyes.

If you got like a big 40% discount, that would be nearing the "just suck it up and keep it moving" territory though
Yep agreed!

Just got a pair of 12 HC in 10's and clay 10.5's. If the clays fit well i am going to buy a second pair. How long do these usually take to break in?

Oh I have not tried these yet. Did you mean to quote someone else? I was just addressing Phoenix's point about being or not being "too picky".

I just tried them on last night. Wore them around the house for a bit.
Definitely feel heavier than my Vapor 9.5s.
Heel lockdown didn't feel as good as the V9.5s either, but that might get better with some break-in.
I really need that heel lock down to be solid as I have heel pain issues when it is not.
Although, I'm excited to see if this will get me off the shoe merry-go-round that I've been on since the V9.5s went away.

Just my experience. Had to size down a half size in these to an 11. Bought a pair of 11.5 without thinking anything about it and it fit well, but the shoe is roomy in the toe box. The half size down might be way better fit for aggressive players. Using runners knot for extra lockdown. Also using with Game day pro insole. Absolutely loving it on hard court. Coming from VP2 in 11.5 and LG-23 in 12.
I had the same experience. Had to go half size down for the 12s and they are a perfect fit. Went up half size in the LG23 as well.

I would agree with that sentiment but those 2 shoes are probably the 2 best models for lateral and overall stability. They also feel like tanks on feet compared to the vapor 12s and can be tiring to wear. Just depends on what you want from a shoe. I do like the 12s but I wouldn't say they are worth full retail price.

Does anyone have a comparison with these and the On Roger Pro 2s?
The On Roger Pro 2s felt very dead in terms of cushioning. There's very little energy return through the bottom of the shoe. It felt taxing to wear and I was surprised by how less comfortable it was than the On Roger Pro.
The Vapor 12s are a great shoe for me, someone who has been a fan of the Vapor 9, 9.5, X, and Pro generations. The upper feels quite nice and adaptive but I'm still trying to eliminate heel slippage while not having the laces too tight that my ankles feel restricted (using a runner's loop at the moment). The ride is higher than the On Roger Pro 2 but it's miles more comfortable. One edge I'll give to the On Roger Pro 2 is the breathability and weight. That shoe feels like I'm not wearing a shoe and the connection to the court is great, until the foot pain starts. Hope this helps! :)

Awesome, thank you! I’ve had the Roger Pro 2s so might give the Vapors a try for a more cushioned sole.

Roger Pro 2 sounds like a definite no go for me then; I’m even thinking twice about the expected comfort level of the V12s, particularly in the forefoot, having spent the last few years being pampered by the wrap around comfort of the ZVC4s. I also wear Eclipsions when my feet feel up to it and/or surface permits. (I haven’t tried the 5s yet though.)
I’d like to try the Lacoste offerings, but cost, availability & sizing uncertainty has dissuaded me so far.

I used to wear a US 10 in the Yonex models years ago when they were wider fitting; Eclipsions 1?-4 I’ve worn a US 10.5, which is what I wear in the ZVC4s also.

The Eclipsions are narrower in the forefoot than the ZVC4s. The ZVC4s are also longer than the E4s. The difference is pretty much that I can wear Thorlos in the ZVC4s, particularly once they’re broken in, whereas I have to stick to thinner socks in the E4s, except maybe when they’re almost shot.

I have a medium or perhaps slightly wider than medium foot.

I play in the ZVC4s most of the time but enjoy the lighter, quicker feeling I get in the E4s with thinner socks, particularly during matches.

Does anyone know if new colors will be released soon in the clay version? The two current ones, apart from black, are absolutely atrocious.

Got the grey/orange clay breaker 12s

Guys. These are so comfy. Light enough. Good looking. While nothing wildly new and expensive compared to the old 9/9.5 (similar in price adjusted for inflation) they are the best we are going to get in reference to old vapors.

Quit dragging your feet and grab a pair before the tariffs take off!
Hell ya. Happy hitting dude
