Really? What is wrong with people?

Just last week, I was looking for work and they required the staff to wear neutral colours. Just then I realized how much of my wardrobe isn't greyscale (white/grey/black). Crazy.

I know this is for cars but it applies to clothing as well:

Although I will say, tennis apparel and clothing has always had a white bias, which I guess is why the Agassi and Kuerten outfits of the 1990s were such a big deal.

Multifaceted reason but the one that stood out to me is that while people might not "like" greyscale colours, they rarely "hate" it as well.

Whereas with a primary or secondary colour like yellow: yes, you can find people that "love" the colour, but you can also find people that "hate" it too.

If you are making 10 cars, for example, it is cheaper to make them just 4 white ones, 3 grey ones, and 3 black ones, instead of 1 yellow one, 1 green one, 1 orange one, etc...

Also, for example, if you are one of those individuals who really like the yellow one and they are sold out, it is harder to convince you to take the purple one instead. However, you will be less reluctant to accept a white/grey/black one instead.

Kinda makes sense to me, but I still hate it. This is one of the reasons why so many home/kitchen appliances are greyscale. This is essentially the executives with the MBAs going with a safer and less polarized selling strategy.

In France in the 1960s, greyscale and navy represented a third of the car market. In the 2010s, it represented two thirds of the market, so the proportions essentially doubled.

Yeah, cost/efficiency wouldve been my guess without watching the videos.

Thankfully shoemakers havnt adopted this strategy and keeping making cool colorways.
 
Is anyone else getting ungodly bad heel slippage from the 12s? I loved the 11s and they fit great but I can’t stand how the new ones fit.

Combination of both of these solved it for me.
Luka's review from R&R articulated it much better than Foot Doctor Zach that to get the most out of the shoe, you need to get as snug a fit as possible, and just live through the break-in.

Isn't this every tennis shoe? lol

My tennis shoes are 6-6.5 men's, but in street shoes I wear 7-7.5
 
Is the consensus that these run a half size big or are they just a wider toebox?
Especially compared to the 9.5 or X.

Now that outgoing models are getting to clearance prices I may try to pick up a clay pair despite my extreme prejudice against that "claybreaker" nonsense.
 
Went to a shop and tried them on
I'm sure it's been discussed but here are some size/fit notes.

My normal size in most shoes is 11.
Size 11 in the Vapor 12 is what I would buy, little extra room in the toes, snug but not tight overall, felt pretty good everywhere.
HOWEVER, and it warrants caps, there was some clicking of the TPU on the medial side at the big toe joint. Basically right where your foot bends. Not only did it feel like there was extra material but it also would bend into the top of my foot a bit and cause some dsicomfort.

Tried size 10.5, overall much tigher on my foot. Toes weren't quite hitting the end but probably would on hard stops. I could probably live with this as I was interested in the clay version and stopping on clay isn't the same as on hard court.
The upside was no more clicking of the TPU at the toe joint.

So I'm torn, the size 11 is more how I want my shoes to fit but not with the discomfort caused by the TPU. They were out of my size in the sale colorway, so when the next ones go on sale I may try again.

Shoemakers really need to quit using TPU at key flex points because as hard as they try it is never as smooth as textile.
So my conclusion is they do run true to size or at least consistent with prior Nikes.

Had the same discomfort where you pointed out but I haven’t felt it again after playing in them for 2 sessions.

Thats good to know.
Slowly walking around a store is definitely different than running around a court.

I recall having a similar issue with the solution speed ff2 except it was more on top of the toebox instead of just the big toe. I agree I don't think it ever bothered me while actually playing.

I had the same problems in the same sizes, and going down a half size worked wonders for me.
I felt both had a break in period to soften the TPU, and now both sizes are pain free, once the plastic has softened a little it's fine and the rigidness/clicking doesn't come back.

Other than walking/playing through the pain, you can flex them by hand (watched a video of Naomi Osaka's trainer doing these for her band new GP's before a match), or heat them up with a hair dryer/heat gun (carefully), to stretch/soften the plastic
I put mine through a hot wash in the washing machine and then hot air dried and they are perfect now.

The downside of doing this in the bigger size, as others have posted, is that they will expand, soften and might feel a bit too loose after a few playing sessions :)
Plus, the slightly higher weight might put more fatigue through your legs

So do you play in both pairs? If so, why did you keep two different sizes?

That's good to know at least two people have said you can break-in the TPU. Most of my shoes have textile toebox areas.
See I'd rather have the bigger size because once you stretch out the shoe it doesn't feel or play the same and I'm not worried about the weight.

Play in the size 10.5- use the 11's for the gym or for runs/casually now.
Bigger difference is the heel slippage for me.
 
The side guard bites into my toes and causes massive pain

Due to the outsole not making full ground contact, the grip is abysmal compared to the outgoing Vapor 11s.
