NikeCourt Zoom Vapor 12

No show or ultra low socks are for females only.

Good lord, I knew I was missing something.

There must be a rule book somewhere. Did I misplace it? Or perhaps I was focused on the wrong things like winning matches and simply never received it?

Note to self: real men always obey rules blindly, even--and perhaps especially--rules that lack any justification whatsoever.

I shall always keep your wisdom close to my heart: "verily I say to you, low-cut or no-shows are for women only." Amen.

Many thanks!

Lol. I'm much more afraid of the dude that shows up to the court with one TiS6, no show socks with old tennis shoes, a baggy cotton t shirt and a small duffle or no bag than a guy dripping in the latest pro tennis fashion.

Thank you, stay tuned for more fashion tips!

Is Dan Evans the only male playing with no show socks ? Is there a club to join :D

Yep, we meet on Thursday afternoons for cocktails, 4pm sharp EST. "No shows only" allowed to join. Send dues anyway. :)

roddick and fish did it for a while, terrible look. might as well wear some air monarchs out there

much worse than black socks and white shoes

Well, sir, I disagree. Nevertheless, I commend your admirable restraint. At least you are not professing that crew socks on the tennis court are somehow something more than tradition/fashion.

Hah! He may not have, but I will: crew socks reduces the risk of cancer and diabetes by 0.001% :p

According to a research paper done by the university of... uhmmm... hogwartz...

LOL, touché! I stand corrected. I will start wearing crew socks on my nose too. :D

You bristled, but was he wrong?

Only one male player currently wears them, but loads of female players do--almost all of them in fact

So yes it is a "gendered" look even if not officially so

For guys, I won't say it's feminine necessarily, but it's just very dated. Back to late 90s/early 2000s, like frosted tips and visors. Very "Late Agassi" and I think even he didn't wear them all the time later on.

Was he wrong that there is a fashion rule book, which we must blindly follow?

No, he was not. It is exceedingly important to both have and adhere to this rule book; and make sure that everyone else does too.

Even if--nay, especially if--it is merely about fashion.

And what is more important than fashion on the tennis court?

What does it say about a man who doesn't give a toss about fitting in, sartorially speaking, on the tennis court at least? This proclivity is more than a wee bit feminine, no? We all know that it is women, not men, who care so little about fashion. Conversely, show me a stickler for fashion on the tennis court, and I will show you a man.

And what does it say about a man who fears and frets about "looking feminine"? Or about looking "outdated"? It speaks volumes.

I say: this rugged focus on fashion--this "devil-may-care" fear about "looking feminine" and ever-so "up to date"--is surely a sign of both manliness and tennis prowess.

As I say, I stand corrected, and I shall wear crew socks on my legs. And my arms. And my nose for good measure. It's not only fashionable, it's part of my wellness routine.

If you’re going to act like a spoiled 12-year-old, I guess you may as well dress like one, too. He always reminds me of upper class, suburban White kids in the U.S. who go to the mall and buy whatever they think most makes them look like stereotypical “urban” tough guys.

I like no-show socks, so I'll defend who ever suggested that. I like my legs to breath.

I was forced to stop because the heel cup on the Vapor X was so aggressive it would roll the back of the sock down while playing.

Eh nothing wrong if you're wearing all darker colors to wear a contrasting bright color/white sneaker -v normal to wear all dark clothes with white sneakers like that, so have no issue with the black socks at all - this country club aesthetic is just one of the reasons tennis is dying out amongst the youth

Guys lets not argue over socks okay? While I agree that crews are superior to no-shows both aesthetically and functionally speaking, you can't deny that some of Katz's posts are hilariously funny. Pointless to argue over what essentially is something subjective, and while we all may have disagreements, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. :giggle:

No show socks is crazy honestly, it’s not the best look if we talking styling wise .
"If you look good, you feel good, you feel good, you play good" Coach Prime said

Alright yall the sock thing getting old lets talk vapor 12
Will Nike raid the archives for sweet colorways?
And should Nike call it the Vapor XII to distance itself from the Vapor 11 abomination? (Grassroots movement, lets go)

The Vapor XII (12) is a good looking shoe but, admittedly, the colorways are safe which is to say a bit boring. Obviously it's a new release but let's hope it lasts as long as the Vapor X, is as good, and some bold designs in the future.

Having seen all the 2025 colourways, this couldn't be further from the truth.

Interesting Rune was playing with the 12's until he landed in Melbourne for practice at AO (per his stories. Back to original Vapor pros..
He playes in a new pair every match and every practice. He burned through all his promo pairs. This is speculation but Nike haven’t restocked all of their players yet if you look at Alcerazs practices he’s using his old stock pro 1 and 11 customs. Sinner is similar he’s in older pairs of his zoom zeros. Also they have an influx of players leaving and changing their contacts, Mpetshi, Jerry, Tiafoe, etc. Also Naomi is getting her PEs. Kyrgios is a huge part of their team especially because he’s so active socially and he’s really back into the lime light. Sabalenka is number 1 on the women’s side and probably going to be a large part of their campaign. They are really expanding their reach in China as well Zhang, li na, Jerry. One more thing is there is some talks about Kei leaving his Nike shoe deal for ASICS this year. He is one of the largest athletes in Japan and has been important there for Nike. This all makes me think Rune isn’t switching out of the 12 rather that the Nike team is overwhelmed right now and is experiencing a lot of changes. Thus leading to him not being able to get new shoes or maybe not enough new shoes for the slam.

Nike would have the capacity to arrange a dozen new pairs of shoes to be sent to Melbourne, no? It's not a mom and pop organisation. I've worked with a few companies sponsoring dozens of athletes and this would never really happen unless someone dropped the ball or Rune doesn't like the new shoes IMO

I don't love the plastic sections on this shoe. I know that's the direction Nike and a lot of tennis shoes have gone in, but I don't like the aesthetics or the lack of breathability or the creasing feeling those sections can sometimes create. I'm skeptical but maybe I'll be surprised. Hard to beat the 9/9.5.
