NikeCourt Zoom Vapor 12

Nike would have the capacity to arrange a dozen new pairs of shoes to be sent to Melbourne, no? It's not a mom and pop organisation. I've worked with a few companies sponsoring dozens of athletes and this would never really happen unless someone dropped the ball or Rune doesn't like the new shoes IMO

Maybe the 12s are basic promos that don't have any customization for him? Whereas perhaps his vapor pros are still customized to him, so he'd prefer the latter?

AO V12s are up for pre-order on MW tennis. Looks like the price will be $180.

Edit: the description details air zoom unit in the heel but no mention of a forefoot air zoom unit.
Says delivery in late MARCH!!! I'm dying...Please tell me that's wrong

Nike has them listed already on the Indonesian version of the site...doesn't seem like they'd be all that far away if they're selling them already in some countries.

Nike Thailand has them available for order since 5 January and can go for delivery (only the AO yellow colorway)
You can use the browser translation to translate, but some of the points highlighted:
  • The Air Zoom unit in the heel provides support and a springy feel throughout the race.
  • The herringbone traction pattern is made with our new rubber material that’s lighter than the previous Vapor,
  • We've brought back the hard plastic midfoot piece found on previous Vapor models for ultimate stability and weight transfer when transitioning side-to-side. The support piece allowed us to eliminate the rubber in the midfoot, reducing the overall weight of the shoe.
  • We reduced the weight of the structural mesh while maintaining durability in high-wear areas around the forefoot.

Elaborate?

We should know once Zach cuts them in half, but will they use phylon or an even cheaper foam. Vapors 6/7/8 all had lunarlon in the forefoot then they cheaped out and went phylon in vapors 9/10/VP1 - the 9 held up longer because it was thicker but the 10/VP1 was paper thin. I hope we get a thick midsole section, even if the foam is cheap

Oh. I thought your were suggesting that there’s an alternative to zoom air that you like.

I’m in the camp that fell in love with forefoot zoom while Nike was off messing around with shoes… and now I have no interest in going back to a shoe without it. So seeing your post I was interested because I thought you were saying there’s something comparable in alternative foam types.

just saw vapor 12 shoes in person at my training. The look really good. the seem a bit stiff, but that's something I like. The uppers look really soft and adaptive as far as foot type Aswell. I like them!! Surprisingly look real durable for such a minimalist shoe to.

Tried the 12's on in-store yesterday - Nike Melbourne have these and the VP3's, as well as both Sinner and Alcaraz's kits, but significantly less gear compared to previous years.
First impressions and side by side with brand new VP1's I was wearing at the time:
  • Frame felt bigger and definitely roomier than the VP1's - closer to the V11's
  • But the downside of that was lockdown felt difficult to accomplish - the adaptive lacing is a nice return,
but like the VP2's with the thicker tongue it was really difficult to feel fully locked in - was like the lacing and tongue were fighting each other instead of working together
  • Despite that, still felt a noticeable gap in the heel just walking around in them in store - so potential room for heel slippage, even after trying to lace them as tight as possible.
  • Good to see the extra loop return for those wanting a runner's knot - but I kinda felt it was necessary to use due to the above, and its spaced quite a bit further from the top loop, which feels like a weird choice
  • They also felt a bit higher off the ground compared to the VP1, and you can feel the plastic shank.
  • The plastic running along the outside was digging into my midfoot pretty hard and was causing a bit of pain, so would need a bit of break in.
  • The new upper weave is very, very nice though!
  • They only had the AO colour and it is BOLD IRL
By comparison putting, the VP1's back on felt like jumping into a Ferrari after driving a Lexus.
The 12 felt like a faster, lower, lighter V11 more than a direct successor to the V9, VX, VP1 like some people were hoping.
With the tongue, shank and the plastic guarding and framing really felt like it was really pushing everything on the midfoot. But everyone's feet are different, so your impressions might differ!
Will likely go back for them and actually test them on court to get a better read on them, or hope Tennis Only gets the other colours as the bright yellow is a statement lol.

Assuming the forefoot didn't feel like zoom? Really clutching at straws at this point.

No didn’t feel like there was any zoom in there unfortunately :(

I’d have to go try them again, but my lasting impression was all of the construction of the shoe was pushing my foot towards the middle and heel area which is where the shank/air unit is. Forefoot/and toes felt like they were just along for the ride tbh, but could be my foot shape, and could feel different putting some energy through them on court.

So there’s potentially some great push off power, spring and shock absorption here, but probably not that spring and bounce from forefoot like outgoing models.

But who knows, Nike are finally releasing a Pegasus 41 PRM with full air this year, it might take 1-2 years to catch up to their running shoe engineering.

Vapor 12s are officially up on Australia NDC.

A moment of silence please for anyone who bought Vapor 11s in the last few months lol.

Seems Vapor 12 is not that much of an upgrade. I would say there are definitely people loving and wearing the Vapor 11. As long as you do not deem it as the successors of those old vapors (9, 9.5, X) and treat it as standalone Nike tennis line, it has no problem at all.

Its a good time for vapor 11 fans for sure. They will be able stock up on v11s at good prices in the next few months while us vapor 12 fanbois are dropping big $$$ lol.

Its a win-win for everyone really.

Crazy the AO was the first color way before white and black lol, hopefully not too much longer for us in the states then please
They want to offload all the yellow ones first because they know everyone will panic buy the white and black models once they come out haha.

Guilty here, I really liked the Vapor 11, not because it reminded me a vapor but it reminded me of a "faster" court ballistec.

Agreed.

And I wonder about all the love for Vapor 9.5 / X / Pro 1. Those would last max 2-3 months. Are people buying a new pair of tennis sneakers every 3 months?
This is exactly what I be thinking. Like we know that the way we play no matter what they are going to last like 3 months max. People didn’t like the 11’s but they was fine to me so idk I don’t think I worry about peoples reviews much cause I know as long as they feel good to me then im good.

Durability is a major concern for the retail buyer and nothing tears shoes apart faster than hardcourt tennis, aside from maybe skateboarding

That's why I roll my eyes when forum guys ask for these minimal shoes back....I used to play in 9.5s and I really could only get a few months out of them before the soles were completely smooth and I started to slip. And when the cushioning went they were even more dangerous.
