It's weird, I am semi starting to like these shoes the more I see them.
Maybe better colorways than at launch?
Maybe they just release so many my perception is changing?
Strange?

Also I like Khachanov's kit in that pic above, is it possible Nike is going back to making clean kits and not garbage?

Nike have been making clean kits perpetually, you just don't see the pros mixing and matching the pieces properly like Khachanov has done there. Look to Musetti, he's one of the better ones in that department

I more meant clean as in simple.
Not over -styled or -designed.
You know like the crazy square neck thing from last year, or even Tiafoe's funfetti cake tank top from this year.

They have both though. That's my point. And simple things like shoe/sock color can change the entire look of an outfit.

And honestly, if I showed up in that much teal (or that much of any color, even white) my friends would laugh and send me to the nearest gay bar. So everyone's definition of "simple and clean" is different.

Anyone have any intel as to upcoming clay colours they can share. When would they be released? For Roland Garros....but that is still a few months away!

Hey guys, I did not have an account for a while now looking at this shoe. I got an account finally and have been a user of the vapor pro 1 and 2 for a while now. currently on my fourth pair and had 3 pairs of the original vapor pro-1. I wanted to give my overall review from a person that used both versions to their full life, from new to worn out multiple times in a row so here it goes...

In the beginning the vapor pro 2 initially around the house had a lot more padding, compared to the vapor pro-1. I am not the type of person that cares at all about comfort though, so This was just a bonus.

LOCK DOWN TIP: the vapor pro 2 can be locked down very well if you tighten each individual row of laces very tightly. Over time the shoe will mold to your foo like this and have a very nice comfortable lockdown. Vapor pro 1 does not need this treatment as much.

The vapor pro 2 had some pain after a bit though on the metatarsal due to its thicker structure compared the more elastic material on the vapor pro-1. However this will go away after some playing sessions, But this is mainly of you tighten the shoe down like I said. It is better in the long run for the shoe if your willing to go through that initial short period of slight pain.

Out on the court, I am a very aggressive baseline mover with my legs. I definitely care about shoes quite a bit because of my style and needing to run down shots quickly as a more so counter puncher. These shoes were very nice in my opinion due to the added air zoom unit in the forefoot giving a bit back to me for its weight. The shoe did not feel very heavy at all and if you put enough energy into this shoe like I do, you can appreciate the zoom air like I did. The shoe is supportive and great for sliding, which I love. Compering to the vapor pro 1, the vapor pro 1 was not quite as responsive, but it was very stable, great for sliding, and super light getting out of you way perfectly.

The playability of the vapor pro 2 overtime as the outsole tread wears down does start to loose alittle response, but it does get more aero-dynamic as it kind of bends and shapes to how you twist it over time. The shoe gives a good lockdown overtime due to how it molds to your foot with all the padding. It breaths fine to.

CLAY court she is in my opinion a bit better because this shoe is meant to be a sliding shoe. The easier pivoting and movement that is able to be achieved on clay compared to hard makes it even better, but it being a sliding shoe already on hard makes it fine on hard.

At the end of its life the shoe shoes to start very responsive and over time get turn into a shoe that gets out of your way to allow you to do your job to win points and play tennis. It works will for me obviously as I'm already on my fourth pair and find this shoe a slight improvement over the vapor pro 1 if you're willing to give it a chance over its FULL life.

In short for vapor 11 on other hand, it's the same shoe without as much initial pain, has a little more stability and stout feeling, but it drags a little for only having one zoom air unit, so I would go with vapor pro-2. Also, it has not durable drag guard for toe wear!!

Thanks!!

I am trying on Vapor Pro 2 right now. I have not tried on the court other than walking around my living room. I do have slippage in the heel and you stated that it will go away as they mold to your foot. I am wearing a superfeet insole (low arch). I have wide feet but my heel is pretty skinny. I am on the fence as to whether they will mold or not. The toe box room is good for me which nice.

To me the Vapor Pro 2 was immediately a more comfortable shoe out of the box, just walking around, etc. I had issues getting it to lock down. I found that I'd have to stop during warmup to tighten laces down again every few minutes. As far as movement went they were fine and at my level of play I don't feel like either really outshined the other. What I was having a problem with though was some rubbing on the inside of my foot that I know would have turned into blisters had I not slowed down. I even tried different socks without any luck. I got lucky and was ultimately able to return them to my local tennis store and they happened to have a few pairs of the original Vapor Pro in my size. That said, I didn't stock up and now I'm almost through those looking at what I may try next. They unfortunately don't have any more of the originals in my size.

Tempted to look at the new GP Challenge shoes but I imagine they'll be a noticeable change. It might be something I just have to do though. Nike's just fit my foot shape the best. One or two pairs of Asics felt next best. In store the Vapor 11 also feels good and I may also look to those. Not thrilled about the extra price on them. For me the outsole is always the first thing to go by a large margin.

I still can't decide on shoes. I have zero rubbing on ankles with these vapors which is great. I just have slipping in the heel. I tried Rafa Nike edition and it pressed so hard on my inner ankles that I returned them. I found asics rolled my feet inward and I did not have that low ground feel. They feel like running shoes. I love the feel of Barricade 13 and these Vapors so far. I just feel the Adidas Torsion bar supports my foot somehow. I know Vapors don't have that. Is that an issue? Probably not and just my preference or grand ole marketing making me think I need it.

It's definitely an obnoxious process to have to venture into trying new shoes and my experience with the Vapor Pro 2 has left a sour taste in my mouth that a shoe could feel great in the store and walking around but you really won't know until you get a few play hours. And depending where you purchase from you just might be stuck with it if they don't work.

All i am doing is ordering and returning. I have no tennis stores near me. Been through Babolat, New Balance, ASICS, Nike, and Adidas. So far the toss up is Nike and Adidas. I watch countless youtube videos. I had the same hip surgery as Andy Murray. I need a shoe low to the ground and a neutral or slight heel drop plus flat arch. Nike does offer that as well as Adidas. I still feel that the Vapors might have too much twist and less support in the heel wall compared to versions like Nike Vapor 9.5 tours. But I think they are meant to be light and lofty? I am a heavy legged player and play on some not so forgiving outdoor courts. Would the Nike Vapors hold up?

Try the vapor 11, they are heavier

Hey I see you responded to my comment about the vapor pro 2. Yes, the shoe will feel a little looser if you do not use that extra eye lid. I also recommend tightening the shoes down as even though it has a good lockdown, it's a little harder to get than the last version. Vapor 11 shoes are probably the absolute best if you want more comfort and shock absorption, but that's from what I have tried. I will update this when I try the gp challenge 1 but so far from what I have heard, the gp challenge 1's sound even more supportive and responsive. Just a problem with heel slippage so try vapor 11 first of you want more support, same midsole, and more shock absorption!

Thank you. Hopefully the Vapor 11 has a low to ground feel. Not sure I am sold on a lot of this cushion foam. Makes me feel like I can’t feel the ground. Ha ha. Only thing I have read about the gp challenge pros is they are a slower shoe. I am slow anyway so probably doesn’t make any difference for me. The struggle is real!

Agree with this only regarding the 1st step. I hate on this shoe due to fit reasons (can't do anything about that) but even I have to concede that the 1st step is comically fast and powerful.

The second step is a bit faster (not comically fast though) than my other shoes and the 3rd step is in line with my other shoes. Anything beyond that, the weight of the Turbos eventually catches up and it becomes slower than my other shoes.

But that first step though...

Interesting, I hadn't thought of it like that.

Where I can really feel it is when I land. Or rather, can't feel it.

So, I end up taking much bigger leaps on the court. Especially when approaching and going into the air off a short-hop/pickup volley at your feet

I would say from a complete standstill, I get get almost a foot of distance longer on the 1st step (just by pushing off with the back foot) compared to my other shoes. Feels like springs underneat my feet! Heavy but powerful springs.

I've said this before but there have been many times when I get so much air in these shoes that I think "oh sht" and get that adrenaline spike in my gut bc my brain is expecting a crash landing that doesn't come. It's a weird feeling to keep jumping when you think you should already be back on the ground, and then not get injured or fall.

My Zoom NXT’s have been a big bust, which really put me off Nike for a while. But I tried on these Vapor Pro 2’s yesterday and they felt really great in the store. Seems like the lockdown should be pretty good and they seemed to hug my narrow foot pretty well.

How has the ankle stability held up over time for you guys? With the NXT’s I struggled with blisters, but also a lot of ankle issues as the uppers broke in and basically lost all support.

I prefer a lightweight shoe but it needs to hold its structure over time.

The amount of support over their life has not gone down for me, still really liking mine.

my old vapor pro 2 shoes I leaned on my heal with, testing support of rolling over. Easily could with just foam but great support when playing. I put more pressure personally in forefoot where that Chassey is. I would recommend to people who don't pt pressure in hopes of a hard supportive stop in heal area but more so if you land more evenly aor near the forefoot then I would recommend.

Haha that sucks I have two pairs of Zoom NXT I haven't played in yet

Yea they felt great in the store but I immediately struggled with blisters on the ball of foot and big toe. Tried lots of different socks and the Thorlo max cushion seemed to help but not totally eliminate the problem. Even putting in higher volume insoles (Game Day Move) didn’t help. I tend to think it’s because the uppers are so soft and flexible, there’s just too much movement.

I’ve been playing in ASICS Speed FF2’s for a while now and tried out my NXT’s yesterday, thinking that maybe my feet have toughened up in the last few months. But the balls of my feet immediately hurt again and my ankles were sore after playing.

I am not sticking with the Vapor Pro 2. Even with my insoles I had heel pain and I decided they are too narrow. Does anyone know if Men sizes in Nike are different in width compared to Women sizes?

I pretty sure gp challenge 1 or gp challenge pro might work better for you. Wider, more comfort, and now complaints of pain, some say its alittle to loose back there so you should be good and not worry of heal slippage once broken in. You will get the stability and more, same zoom are unit in forefoot plus one in back, and its overall a well all around shoe you should try. Women are more narrow than mens btw

I'm a sucker for a gum sole
I know the shoe in the pic probably contain a "gum coloured" sole and not an actual "gum" sole but the question I wanted to ask is whether or not ACTUAL gum soles are less durable than rubber outsoles? Or is it similar, or maybe even better?

Any good reviews on here from those with the clay version? And if so, how do they fare on hard courts?

ive long considered this as a way to try the VP2, but I still have a massive supply of VP1 - so for that reason i will wait

but at first glance - the more simple herringbone seems like a logical all-surface option

The clay shoe is a little lighter than the hardcourt version, but I like the shoe a lot on both surfaces. It is a little more agile and rigid when brand new, and you need to tie it down a little tighter than vp1, but it still stays light and good. I would highly recommend the shoe, and its more forgiving to legs to.

Tie down was probably my biggest issue with the VP2. VP1 I could wear loosely and it just hugged my foot perfectly. They truly fit like a glove that I haven't been able to find in a single other shoe. I got lucky and found a new pair recently and just started to play with them so I've got a good 4-5 months before I need to find another shoe but it will come fast. I keep scouring any reseller site for a pair of VP1 to come up but being such a common size (10 mens) everything goes real fast. I'm hoping to find maybe one more pair and then I should be good for a year and maybe just maybe Nike will have something new out that's actually better.

I don't like the extra price point but might just have to consider the Vapor 11 next instead.

It's also a bummer the old Vapor NXT has poor reviews because I've been able to find a ton of those. Never played in them and they are decently comfy out of box but it just sounds like a slower and heavier shoe than the VP1/VP2 and I think that's going to bug me.

Yea Your right. the vp11 will not feel better lockdown wise though. I tried them and they ere better in my mind but farther away from the vp1. You should give them a try atleats though but as much as I'm a Nike guy, there are always Asics speed ff shoes Aswell.

Im really eager though for the vapor pro 3 lol. I wonder what they ill fix.
