I am relatively new to this forum, and am a massive fan of this guy. Unfortunately, poor performances and injuries have seen him fall down the rankings (currently no. 39) as of late. This has not been helped by the fact he has lost to Mayer, Llodra and Simon in the last few tournaments. Although i have good memories of him winning WTF and playing some brilliant tennis over the years, he is approaching 30 now and with his ranking so low, have we seen the best of Davydenko? I really hope not but i'd like other people's opinion

I think Davydenko will be back in the top 10 by the end of the year. Unless he gets injured again. Fully healthy and with a half a season of playing he should be back to his old self I think.

Yeah, he's been out for a while due to injury. His USO early exit was a real disappointment. I don't think he's using a paintjob, because I don't see the o port holes, so all these new changes with the change of a racquet might suggest he's still adjusting. Unless he got a huge contract from Dunlop, I don't see why he switched from Prince as he was doing very well.

He's talented and a hard working player. Too bad he's undersized and lacks power. In today's game, you can't be small and expect to be a slam champion. He belongs in the 60s.

I LOVE Davy too. His groundstrokes are awesome, like a modern version of Agassi. He takes it so early and uses the angles so well. The way he won WTF in London reminded me of Nalbandian of 2007 Paris and Madrid Masters. Those 2 guys have sweet groundstrokes. If the majors were 2 out of 3 sets, both of those guys would have a couple by now.

There's simply no player at Davy's size can threaten at the slam today, leave out winning it. Great movement, defense and consistent alone isn't good enough. You must also have the serve, power on both wings to get over the hump. The slam winner - Fed, Nadal, Safin, Nole, DP...all have the tools to win slams.

Davy lacks the size and power is his achilles' heel.

Davydenko has produced some excellent tennis in the past and he is so dedicated to the game. I always like to see him play and he is one of the players, when performing well, can give the top guys a lot to worry about

I wouldn't call Davydenko a defensive player though, even if he's smaller. I really hope he gets his form back and I want to see him win one.

Davy beat Garcia-Lopez in 1st round of Dubai 6-2 6-0. Has he found his good form at last? Can't tell that because after a final showing in Doha he had a miserable slump, losing 3 straight matches. Now he owns a 9-1 h2h advantage against Berdych, whom he is to meet in the 2nd round, with the only loss coming at Wimbledon 2 years ago.
