Crazy. Nishikori never really showed up, but Cilic's performance in this match was unreal. For a guy who used to be known as a huge choker, this was pretty shocking.
 
Man, I never would have thought I'd see the day Marin Cilic won a Grand Slam title. Fair play to him.

Also, why do the crowds at the US Open never know when to just shut up.

Well played, Marin Cilic. That was simply an outstanding performance. He played 3 KILLER matches in a row and overcame several previously difficult match-ups for him.


Marin Cilic has freakin' arrived. Props to tipsa don't like him... I bet even you didn't think your guess on Cilic would be proved right this soon.

Again, this final is the gross mismatch. Cilic has forced his game from start, to the expected finish. Nishikori was overwhelmed, had not a single answer, and for all that was made of his semi, he's now confused, lacks any sort of strategy and was barely hanging by his fingers. There's nothing competitive about soon-to-be straight set blowout.

Cilic disallowed any Kei inroads. Clic played way too good.. 100% perfect. Period.
 
Congrats Cilic. Beating Berdych, Federer and Nishikori in straight sets in a slam is mightily impressive and he deserved the title.
 
Congrats Marin, just too good this fortnight and esp these last couple of rounds! We have a new GS champ.

Kei, you've played some great tennis to get here too. May you use this to go onward and upward and win yourself a slam sometime soon, too.

Cilic shut the door and never let him, he used his strength to overwhelm Kei's weapons the return and the backhand.

What a victory! What fantastic tennis!
Totally deserved winner. I expected as much, but not as easy as he managed.

Kudos to Nishikori, but like Berdych and Fed, there just wasn't any antidote to THIS mr. Cilic.
Quite Del Potro 2009-like. I am happy for him.
 
Wow!!! Cilic demolishes his last 3 opponents. His performance this tournament was the exact opposite of kei. Kei had tougher matches, while cilic had much more dominant performances.

Let's just hope kei will be back stronger next year. His game is too good to not win a slam in his career

Cilic said at the net "you will be back here" to Nishi and I think that's true, can't be so sure about Cilic this could be his one and only gs final so happy he won in the end.
