^ what's his training program like? Running 1000 miles a day? 10,000 push ups a day? lol
And his serve is killing. I know he's been working at it, I guess to have his shot at the Djoker ...
Link me. I'd like to see that.
Credit to Nishikori for not retiring or tanking.
I have to find the video; I can't remember it all off the top of my head, but I know it involves things like training with weighted racquets. On court.
That sounds legit.
Wow, he's bad@$$
Trains with weighted rackets...
And they wonder why our American kids absolutely go nowhere.
Because years of dominance is automatically passed onto the next generation? Yes? No?
Don't mind me, I'm just trying to think like them young'uns.
I'm just talking who is willing to work that hard, and who isn't.
that was a beautiful jumping forehand by Nishikori
Knee ain't broke!
Kei Breaks back again! Ferrer loses it!
3 all in the 3rd.
Nishikori why fight right now?
Where was this in the first set
Because he's getting close to that 2:47 hour limit. It's now or never.
Always remember, 2:47.
Kei wont win in 5 he should retire, no reason to continue.
It was there.
Second set where it went to hell.
painkillers kicking in
That stat was interesting.
I'm surprised Ferrer's taken two titles when any of the big boys entered.
Not sure weighted racquets is a great idea. Nadal trained 8 hrs/day with ankle weights; now his knees are shot.
US men are in a temporary down period; doubt it will last too long. And training methods aren't the determining factor. Talent and desire. And luck not to get hurt.
We Americans are entitled, with no ethics of hard work or desire. Speaking in general of course, as a nation we're definitely lazy.
Yeah but no one can compete with us in heart disease and type 2? (the acquired version) diabetes. Take that world.
Kei is actually pretty good lol. I like his strokes
Is the machine actually getting tired?
It depends...how do you take care of the body AFTER the training? Hardest of the hard or cream puff will hurt if you do not take care of it properly.
Besides, think of Lendl. McEnroe made fun of Lendl for his training regimen, and now Mac is a physical beast who says he'd been dominant a lot longer if he trained like that.
But we're behind in cancer! Although not for lack of trying.
Wow that was kinda an epic point from Kei
Nishikori couldn't believe that came back. Daveed ran from Hisense on that one.
9 minute game. Deuce #5. Nishikori serving.
This is match point.
Ferrer is just relentless....Nishi gave up to the constant pressure.
That's that. Ferrer rolling along.
It's over, good luck to Ferrer, thoroughly deserved.
God I love Ferrer. I even like how he only has one bag.
Sign that camera, campeón! Vamos!
Good fight by Nishikori. I think he needs to focus on his health for a bit, maybe skip a tournament or two.
David Ferrer. Solid. He's going to trouble everyone he meets the next rounds.
Ferrer is relentless.....
But its so frustrating to watch Ferrer play when most of the time he is like lap dog running around court, while opponent has to go aim at line every point,
And then Ferrer runs into top 3 and they make him look like fool.
Not a chance.
Djokovic will destroy Ferrer.
Ferrer always looks good against opponents that can't constantly paint the lines like top three.
he's not facing novak next... almagro or tipsy.
Djokovic will win, but he won't destroy him. Ferru's got some dukes on him in the past.
And Djoker has three straight wins on him, but that's the longest streak on either side. They've had some good tight matches against each other.
The only seek and destroy really is Federer, and that really isn't either. That's usually just Fed biding his time till Ferrer gets broken, then he finishes.
When has Andy Murray ever made Ferrer look like a fool?
Complete demolition. Surprising.
I think he's been playing a lot of tennis, no? He's in the middle of taking that next step up; he's not the only one having trouble not necessarily with getting to that Next Level, but staying at it. I like Milos, but he's up and down a lot because of what it takes to keep up with the top guys.
None of the top 4 have said they like to look in the draw and see him there, LOL.
I saw the first part of his semi with Novak at the USO before they chased us all away b/c of the weather; he was winning (Novak hates to play in the wind).
Ferrer is in great form, he has a chance against Djokovic...maybe on a really hot day with Cvac slightly off. Or really windy, Ferrer has better footwork than Djokovic and makes the small adjustments better.
Nishikori was having trouble with his knee. It might've been a much tighter match had he been at full strength.
Read this article on his fitness.
Probably only scratches the surface, but it's a nice read.
Ferru really wants it. He won Valencia for a record third time this year; he was voted Spanish Tenista of the Year this year ahead of Rafa.
And again, I saw him beating Novak in the USO semi before they called it for the weather.
I wouldn't count him out.
(Assuming Nico doesn't light himself on fire and beat him in the quarters; he's been training hard too.)
Separate names with a comma.
