No offense to Brooksby....

He appears very raw!
He seems like a good kid. Pretty humble in his interviews when asked about his current level of play. To be completely honest I felt that he may be the worst KZoo champion the last decade. When I say that I mean his playing style seems very passive and he could improve his swing path more. His movement can also improve. He looks like a recreational player wearing Nike Shorts and Adidas shoes. I'm surprised he is not endorsed in terms to clothing. Again, just based this off the stuff on YouTube. He's obviously very good, but I don't think he's scratched the surface if he hits like that and still win KZoo.

-If he improves his fluidity then for sure we'll hear more from him in the future!

Knowing this kid for some time now, I'll offer an opinion: Brooksby has intangibles you won't be able to see at first glance, and definitely not unless you see him in person. Incredible self-confidence and belief. He thinks he can beat anybody. Doesn't hit "hard," but does hit very heavy, heavier than you think. Pinpoint placement and consistency. Really can work a point. His movement skills rely upon uncanny anticipation and court sense so it looks pretty effortless, not a ton of inefficient energy being expended. To be fair, everyone who sees this kid for the first time is not impressed, and has trouble believing how he dominates. But he does. And he has a huge upside considering he is a late bloomer physically... has grown four inches over the past year, though still less than 140 lbs. Knows his focus over the next year needs to be improving his physicality. Training privately in a boutique program in Nor Cal, he's unique and off the radar a bit... didn't go the ITF route...not a USTA high-performance player and never will be.

Thanks for these insights about a "winner." Funny how people try to discredit and devalue a kid who just won the biggest tournament in the country for American juniors.

definitely a good player, I remember chairing his match when he won the National 12's Obviously he is still maturing and growing, Tennis prime is now late 20's no longer allowing 18/19 y.o. to jump right in.

"He looks like a recreational player wearing Nike Shorts and Adidas shoes. I'm surprised he is not endorsed in terms to clothing." Why does that matter? What does that have to do with his tennis? Perhaps, he very confident in his game that he doesn't need to try to impress others with his outfit. Does endorsement mean a player is good? He beat Brandon Nakashima again in the UO junior draw.

Movement, balance, and ball striking are all absolutely A+, and he has some decent variety in his game.

He plays it 100% safe from the baseline to force his opponents to go for more aggressive stuff, then once they start to respond, he has some other tricks up his sleeve.

I have seen him systematically break down a lot of very talented tennis players.

He will be excellent in college, but won't go far in the pros until he develops some bigger weapons.

Your assessment is very correct. I hit with him a few times several years ago before an ITF. He was 12-13 at the time and his intangibles even at that age were apparent. We hit for an hour and don't think he made a single unforced error. His anticipation even at that point was exceptional..which makes his movement efficient. Correct you are.

Looking forward to seeing his collegiate career at TCU. Roditi got a great young man who will be scary when he's physically mature.
