This is weird... he was much more talked at the end of the season when people were even wondering if 2012 could be the year of Tsonga.

I think he played very convincingly in Doha at the start of the season.

Now suddenly at the Ozz Open no one is talking about him anymore. It's even stranger because this is probably his best Slam results-wise. He plays very well in Australia.

It's just unfortunate that he had to land on Murray's side and one of them will have to lose before the semis...

Also, there has been speculation of who could possibly stop Novak... while it will certainly be a very difficult task for anyone, I wouldn't put it past Tsonga, as he has already beaten Novak in this turf not too long ago:

I know that Novak had some issues in this match, but it doesn't take anything away from Tsonga either, who played a 5 set match wih Almagro the round before.

I think we are definitely overlooking Tsonga...

He'd have to go through Murray, Djokovic, and then Nadal/Federer to win this thing. Don't see that happening but I'd love it if it did.

Another Frenchman under the radar...Gasquet???

I felt like he could take Tipsy but never expected a beatdown. Could he actually at last harness his enormous talent?

Murray leads Tsonga 5-1.

Tsonga's win over Murray came in the 2008 AO
7-5, 6-4, 0-6, 7-6(5).

Murray has looked better so far in my opinion.

He's got a jokedraw so far and he'll win is R16 pretty handily too. After that, there will be MUCH anticipation for their QF

No way will he win it all, as people have said, going through Murray, Djokovic then Nadal or Federer won't happen.

Murray has played Tsonga in a few big matches over the last year or two and come out on top. It will be a close quarter final, but he won't be favourite for it.

Methinks there's a very simple reason for this: he's not part of the English-speaking world.

Not much talk about the Djoker either - if you compare with the Murray talk for example. Or with all the so-so American players. North American I should say, Raonic included.

nobodies talking about almagro either

How about a thread "Tsonga looking good. will win Australian Open " so that people can start talking?

in my opinion, good for Tsonga that he is under the radar. he aint winning this 2012 version anywayz.

Tsonga has received more 'talk' in the media than Nadal, though it depends on which media people have been listening to. If anything, Tsonga is overrated, as he can't seem to beat 2 great players in the same slam. His chances are almost nil if that trend continues.
