No pressure for Nadal

All the pressure on Federer. He HAS to win this event. A loss to either Nadal or Djokovic will hurt his legacy.

No it won't "hurt is legacy". The guy is 38 years old and has made it to the semi's of Wimbledon, yet again. His career has to end some time - he does not have to keep beating players who are younger than he is. His past title victories will stand no matter what happens Friday. They may be over-taken eventually, but that has nothing to do with Friday's match.

I meant in his rivalry with both. His best event if he loses to either he doesnt have a winning record.

I doubt Nadal and Fed will meet up many more times. I doubt Roger will ever be able to make much of a dent in the 25-14 H2H record of Nadal. Nit-pickers will parse it down to suit their own viewpoints, but history will still record '25 - 15', or '26 - 14' H2H (whatever the final results are). And at 38 and 33 yrs old, that won't change too much going forward.

Many of us have been blessed by having been around to watch it all. Thanks guys, you have been golden!

Once again: THE ROOF WILL NOT BE CLOSED. Why do people refuse to look at the weather forecasts? 20% chance of rain in the morning, 0% (if there really is such a thing) at time of second semi. No rain, mid-to-high 70s, partly cloudy, a little windy (10-20mph).

Nadal and Djokovic have their pet slams in the bag...This is Federers and he now has to step up.

My gut feeling is Nadal in 4. If outdoors. If roof closed then could be Federer in 4.

If it goes 5 its Nadal . But if it goes 5 hand Djokovic the trophy on saturday.
If Rafa loses at 38 at RG to anybody (remember Rafa is an ATG) then it would trash his legacy?

No roof.

Fed has got nothing to lose. He's the underdog in both matches against Nadal and Djokovic.

38 years old
Slow grass
Current form: Novak and Nadal are better than Fed.

I think if Fed wins it hurts Rafa's legacy much much more. If you can't beat a clearly declined 38 year old Fed on slower grass, you have no right being considered a full rounded player on all surfaces.

Depends if Rafa can tire Fed as the match progresses.

Fed can light up Rafa in the first set, but usually his level drops as the contest wears on.

If Fed could maintain the same intensity of play when he's fresh, Nadal would be toast.

To win, Rafa needs to avoid his usual brain farts on crunch time, like today in the first set vs Querrey.

Agree to a point that there is no or less pressure on Rafa. In the last two years he has proven that he can compete on grass which he will be more than pleased with. However as he gets older each slam is another opportunity to step closer to GOAT hood and there will be a point where he fails to go deep in the slams.

All the pressure is on Fed. Chance to avenge Wim 2008 and this realistically could be his final slam win so he must go all out.

The first SF result will have a huge outcome on Feds mindset. When Novak wins Fed might concede mentally if his match with Rafa goes to five epic sets. At least he’ll take comfort knowing that if he loses Rafa will have to go they Novak. He’ll take Novak winning over Rafa to keep the slam tally safer for now.

I'm just happy to see him competing at every slam (AO Final notwithstanding). Can't tell you how annoying it was to see him blasted off the court by lesser players at Wimby.

That's the main strength of Nadal. His physical ability to sustain the same intensity the all match.

There is pressure on all three, and that includes Nadal.

Last year he was one point away from winning the title in the eyes of many, you can bet that has been on his mind all year and this year he gets another chance, which could be his last, you just never know in tennis. He will feel the pressure, winning here brings him one behind Federer, that is so close.

All of them have to deal with their own demons this coming weekend.

Of course. Spot on. I meant comparatively. I felt Rafa had more pressure at RG for instance. At moment its Federer who has yet to seal the deal at his pet slam the other two goats have. Oh and btw as u r great to chat to, banter aside ive given up on goat debate. All three of the greatest sports people of all time. Just defy logic what they do

Because Fed had no chance at the FO.
Nadal can win Wimbledon and he wants it badly. It's going to small blood. There's pressure.
Why would federer..one of the 3 immortal gods of any sport have no chance? Yes it was Nadal but Federer is Federer.

Grass is Nadals worse surface (i think)

There is no need to lie!
Nadal has as much pressure as his old pal.
It is his last chance to win Wimbledon and in addition to beating the Swiss, he needs to do it in 3 hours or less to arrive with energy to his confrontation with his nemesis on the day of the final.

Don't you just feel that pressure go all of sudden? That constant, I am hoping and praying my guy becomes the GOAT, and you can just watch and enjoy the tennis and cheer your guy on and if he loses, no big deal, life goes on?

Felt it today. Seeing all three do what they do..dismantling top players in form, i just felt humbled.

Whoever wins is almost immaterial now as all 3 deserve it. Just dont actually have the words to describe what they are doing

1/ Nadal is younger.
2/ The court is slow. Fed couldn't get an ace against Nishikori in the beginning.

But i hope to be wrong.

The only reason the roof could be closed is it gets too dark and they need to finish the match.

True. Actually I think there is much less pressure on Djokovic than on the others. He will not really miss any records if he doesn't win the title.

Novak is feeling the pressure against Batista. A lot lose in that match. A bit similar as his match against Thiem.
If he's in the final he'll be favorite against both Nadal and Fed.

Lol, Djokovic will destroy Bautista without much problems. I have no idea why he struggles against him in BO3, but for sure it's not going to happen in BO5.

Federer turns 38 in a matter of weeks.

The "pressure" is squarely on the younger chasing pack for the remainder of his career. :)
