Why do some people not use a replacement grip? why do they take the replacement grip off and put on just an overgrip. what does this effect anything and why?

you get more feel with a smaller grip right?? i understand

no. you don't get more feel w/ a smaller grip. what chrisplchs meant was that you get better ball feel since the replacement grip isnt dampening the vibrations on impact.

people take off the replacement grip and put the overgrip for different reasons. some like to feel the sharp edges of the bevels, some need a smaller gripsize (but you need to add lead at the handle for the loss of mass from taking out the replacement grip), and some like mentioned earlier, prefer the feel w/o a replacement grip. if you want morre ball feel, you can also add a leather grip and just add an overgrip over that.

Where do you add the lead tape?

if your racket has a trapdoor, then you can pop it out and stick lead under the buttcap, or you can just take off the replacement grip/over grips and place lead directly on to the bare handle...and then grip it

I used 3 overgrips before, made a more custom grip size
I did that before on a racquet that was a grip size too small, and it ended up feeling like I was holding a lead pipe ... not much feel of the bevels.
