I mean it is too early to say. She played an amazing fortnight and didn’t drop a set. She did have a very good draw not facing any top 10 players or slam champions but to be ranked #150 in the world at her US Open debut and to win the title? Huge.

Yes huge but let’s not proclaim she’s gonna be an all time great or something wait a bit to see how she handles the pressures and how she fares on the tour.

She went through qualifying and won the entire tournament without dropping a single set. I doubt that with that level of play she'll suddenly start playing poorly, although it could happen, but I don't think it's likely.

If she winds up retiring over a decade from now with only 1 slam, I will be utterly amazed.
I am not going to jump the gun with predictions for her, but this her only slam, destroying a full field as an 18 year old qualifier? Super unlikely.

Yes but even so, she's won multiple majors and wasn't a one slam wonder. I doubt she'll win another one but we're not talking about her, we're talking about Emma. And Emma seems to be a much happier person and with a much more positive outlook on life than Osaka.

The interesting thing about Raducanu that is different than other slam winners is that it wasn’t really her strokes that won it for her.
It was her superior athleticism. She has an extra gear of speed for covering the court. She outclassed Fernandez with her superior movement. Fernandez seemed deflated because she couldn’t hit through her with shots that worked great against Osaka and Sabalenka.

Then it went how I thought it did. Fernandez has, or had, the superior anticipation and willingness to attack. If she loses this edge, it's lights out. She most likely saw Raducanu play and found herself depressed by Raducanu's footwork, which must've hampered her own.

Mentally strong, excellent technique, particularly good second serve and the most important thing, she is extremely smart….like MIT smart. She’s here to stay and could dominate over the next 5 years at least.

Why should I be bothered by your opinion when you bring up "MIT" and other elitist nonsense? If you've a coaching cert, please post it here. Kournikova was the world #1 juniors player and suddenly was forced to not play any tournaments for months at a time because she was a test subject for the age-based regulations Raducanu is now benefitting from, 25 years later.

i don’t need to be any kind of a coach to find you placing Kournikova (0 tournament wins, never mind 0 majors) in the same company as Graf, Navratilova, Serena, Hingis etc utterly laughable.
And, you try getting into MIT - it’s far from elitist - you earn your spot regardless of income. Only the smartest get in there.

I'll say this, I was very impressed with her play and enjoyed watching her. But I also didn't walk away from this tournament seeing anything particularly special in her game that makes me confident more slams are on the way. There's no standout shot and not a ton of pop on any of her groundstrokes. Not the best defender out there either. She just played an incredibly clean & consistent tournament. Seemed to come up with the goods on every big point she needed to win, that FH up the line seemed to clear the net every time she needed it to. That makes for a dream run but not necessarily future success. But we'll see how her game develops with age.

Sakkari probably had the most power of her opponents but was so unbelievably nervous that she couldn't even keep the ball in play long enough to test Emma's defense. I want to see how Raducanu handles the power of an Osaka or Andreescu. Or how she handles the more consistent point constructors like Barty and Halep.

Her athleticism sure is an important part of her total package. But she has much more, and at the end of the day
is one of those players who is greater than the sum of her parts.
