This is disappointing, but not unexpected.

Hopefully he's trying to get healthy for one last run during the summer hardcourt season. He put together a pretty good run last summer after faltering during the clay/grass season (which he only played 3 matches...all losses).

I'm pulling for you Andre!!!

I think it would have been great if he retired last year after winning Cinncinnatti (sp?) I believe it was.

It's a shame he's not playing and I'm hoping it's not the end for him but I've got a feeling that it is. I think the US Open will be his last tournament if he's better then.

Interesting. I guess he chose not to take another cortisone shot. So the question is: will he take one and play a few hard court events and retire at the US Open? Or will he just skip the entire hard court season and show up the 1st day of the US Open and announce his retirement?

Imagine if they could use cloning to clone Agassi and all of the other greats. Maybe then we could put an end to the debates of who is the best of all time.

i heard on ausssy broadcast of the french open that it will be his last french. And i dont think andre would retire half way through a year especially when hiis home grandslam in next

If Agassi needs cortisone injections to go on playing, I'd say he's better off retiring. He has nothing else to prove, and certainly doesn't need the money. He'll go down as one of the all-time greats, but now he should be home enjoying his wife and kids. What does he think he's going to do, hobble along a few more years and break Sampras' record 14 GS's or something?!

that's not good, but he's been around for a very long time. Best wishes to him if he doesn't return to the tennis world.

In my opinion Agassi wants number nine so he can put Connors in his place and set himself away from the eight club...you see a couple of years ago Jimmy said some very unkind words about Agassi, as of now they are both tied in GS titles, eight a piece. As for beating Sampras' record I don't even think its a dream in Dre's mind.

you gotta admit tennis is really fun. and fun is very fun. and nobody hates having fun.

^^^ tennis is fun but not when you're in a lot of pain and those shots only help it a little, they don't completely eradicate it.
