'Nobody can compare with Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer' - Richard Gasquet on greats of tennis at French Open

Nobody can compare with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, according to French tennis favourite Richard Gasquet, who gave his thoughts on the current crop of Next Gen stars attempting to usurp the legendary duo. Gasquet was asked about rising star Carlos Alcaraz, who he could potentially face in the third round at Roland-Garros after both won their opening matches in Paris.

French tennis star Richard Gasquet has given his thoughts on the great players in the game at the start of Roland-Garros 2022.

The 35-year-old flamboyant player began his French Open campaign with a straight-sets, 6-1 6-3 6-4, victory over Lloyd Harris of South Africa on Tuesday afternoon.
He sat down with the ATP Tour for an interview ahead of his opening match on the red dirt in Paris and was asked about the prospect of potentially facing 19-year-old rising star Carlos Alcaraz in the third round and who he takes inspiration from.

What was abundantly clear from Gasquet was that, in his opinion, "nobody can compare" with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, with the latter seeking a record-extending 14th title at Roland-Garros this fortnight.
"Of course, it’s an inspiration, but nobody can compare with Nadal, with Federer,” Gasquet told the ATP Tour, speaking about the rise of the likes of Alcaraz.
"These are the best players in the history of tennis, so it’s really tough for me to compare myself with these kinds of guys.

"Just to play my best, to have fun on the court, to feel some great things on the court — especially in big tournaments like Roland Garros, big stages.
"I’m still motivated to play… I’m still motivated to do my best to be still on top.

noles resume is overall much better than both relatively speaking (though you can argue Nadal because of the extra slam of course) but not including djokovic? LOL

Fed has nothing of value over djokovic anymore at all. Nadal only has one extra slam which will be crushed as well unless he can somehow win 3 slams this year. Djoker has the rest of the records over him by a long shot

Gasquet didn't even mention Djokovic.

Gasquet’s opinion >>>>> yours

Fed and Nadal will always be held in higher regard compared to Djokovic for the majority of people, always

Gasquet hasn’t won a set off Djokovic in 15 years and is 1-13 H2H which may have something to do with it…

But of course if there was any single human being who was uniquely placed to make the “pretty backhand” argument it would 100% be Gasquet lol. Let the man have his opinions.

Rafa has an even better record against Gasquet.

Gasquet vs
Nadal :- 17:0
Federer :- 19:2
Djokovic :- 13:1

He does have more Wimbledon and US Open titles, tournaments won, matches won, more tour finals (won), an olympic gold (doubles) and silver medal. Can't you just relax? They're all great.
Djokovic has the worst fans, though.

Djokovic's overall resume is ONE slam short, and soon to be TWO slams short :D
Its funny that you said Nadal "only has one extra slam" considering we don't even know if Djokovic will ever win another slam.... since he wasn't even good enough to take a set from Medvedev in the US Open Final.
Djokovic is as good as DONE at hardcourt slams, and he looked extremely unconvincing at Roland Garros last year down 2 sets vs. Tsitsipas..... so Wimbledon may be his only chance at a slam.
Its all about the slams, and Nadal leads the Slam Race, and leads their Slam H2H too.

Nadal's resume is 160 weeks short. Solid distant 3d as Federer pigeoned him on hc and moved to 2nd place.

But his record against Rafa is worse.

Interesting fact: Gasquet has only one time won more points in a match against the Big 3:

2007 Masters Cup vs. Djoko

The two times he best Federer, Federer actually won more points and probably should have won.

Dominance ratio vs. Big 3

.70 vs. Nadal
.71 vs. Federer
.72 vs. Djokovic

Notice how the tennis media never mentions the gap between them in "Weeks"? Because Djokovic isn't even in the running for GOAT, because he hasn't won enough slams.
So Djokovic's trivial little "Weeks" stats count for NOTHING.

“How can you be the greatest if you haven’t got a <.71 dominance ratio against me”

2016 ended 6 years ago, bud. It’s over.

This is one of those things you probably "convince" yourself with, when you can't get back to sleep in the early hours of the morning.

It's OK, pal.

You just need to acknowledge that you're suffering from MDS (Murray Derangement Syndrome).

Murray hasn’t won a slam since Obama was prez. No one is worried about him, bud.
