Nominations for the 2015 TTW Year End Awards

SoBad

G.O.A.T.
In addition to the traditional categories, we have some cutting-edge new ones. We have already gathered plenty of nominations from the Categories discussion, as detailed below.

Please contribute your nominations. Rules: one nomination per category per nominating username; self-nomination prohibited; solicitation for nomination permitted.

We are already behind the schedule due to holiday backlog, so instead of traditional one-week nomination period, let’s get this wrapped up within a few calendar days. Also, the limit is 10 nominees per poll, first-come, first-served.

It's an honour to be nominated. Sysyphus might have also made the list in this category.

PS I see now he has a gong under 17.

As an aside, will the Carsomyr-SoBad dialogues be published in book-form? Would look great on my shelf, me thinks.
Some of the radical ideas voiced in the debate were almost designed to prevent formal publication. Without naming names, I can only confirm that for my part I kept the commentary moderate, sensible, and rational, at all times.

I'd like to nominate:

(4) Most Civil: @Garhi Shot First, whom I'd also like to see appear in the (13) Best New Member category
(6) Funniest: @KineticChain (who should automatically get the Best Avatar Creator award if this one existed)
(16) Best Thread Title Creativity: @stringertom

Thanks!
Thank you.

I’d like to note that many of the traditional categories (1-15) are near the 10-nominee capacity. At present, there is a lot of room in the nouvelle 16-20 categories.

2kind 2kind. i've thought about making an avatar request thread and i just make avatars for people when i'm bored between goat thread deletions. stay tuned

I read and re-read SoBad's OP, since I was wondering too (and because I always read carefully before answering to poasts, since English is not my first language), and came to the conclusion that we were in the nomination phase, not the voting one. Could you confirm this, @SoBad ?

Hey so are we nominating, or picking from the people already nominated that are listed in the OP?

I read and re-read SoBad's OP, since I was wondering too (and because I always read carefully before answering to poasts, since English is not my first language), and came to the conclusion that we were in the nomination phase, not the voting one. Could you confirm this, @SoBad ?

Yes, thanks for clarifying this. There was a “Categories” thread launched a few weeks ago that was initially intended to only discuss the categories. A lot of people though proceeded with nominations right there and then, so this “Nominations” thread was launched with some of the categories nearly filled up (I think the limit for an individual poll is 10 choices).

So here we are nominating for each of the categories, and once we are done with that, we’ll launch an individual poll for each category.

You propose discussion on categories, people nominate. You propose categories for nomination, people propose new categories. And then they proceed to undermine the very legitimacy of the process by self-nominating for non-existing categories.
Haha im sorry, it was a joke.

I'm unsure about the self-nomination portion (though it seems like you've thoroughly ensured a corruption-proof system as the sole arbiter), but I must express some doubts. For instance, I see that my nomination of you for "laziest compiler award" did not make the cut.

However, as an optimist, I'm inclined to believe this is just modesty on your part, having already secured a nomination in most other categories.

The integrity of the process is guaranteed through a multi-tiered redundancy protection system: managed by an individual with a reputation for objectivity and fairness, with mechanisms built in to ensure democratic checks and balances at every step.

In particular, the "laziest compiler award" nomination breached not one but two regulatory guidelines: (1) proposing a new category following closure of the categories discussion, and (2) blatant violation of the non-negativity principle in categories and nominations.

That being said, I see very little activity in this thread in terms of nominations for categories (16) through (20). As the Abu Dhabi / London hit-and-giggle holiday offseason fades away and the AO approaches, decisive steps will be needed to propel the process forward. I am tempted to consolidate the nouvelle (16) through (20) categories into a single poll for efficiency. Even on a post-merger basis there appears to be plenty of room, so if having the libelous unwarranted "laziest compiler award" and its nominee absorbed into the consolidated structure, as a shadow category, is something that will cheer up your holiday season, I will not personally oppose such yet another instance of favorable treatment that certain posters seem to enjoy on a regular basis around here, even if their preferential status is consistently achieved through less than honorable means.

I'm sure this is the case; the individual in question is, after all, the only one nominated for each of "Most Civil," "Most Knowledgeable," "Most Logical," and "Best Avatar." I would trust my life to a man with that kind of peer-reviewed recognition.

I acknowledge the former point, but dispute the latter - the perceived "negativity" of the nomination is just that: perceived. Some, such as yours truly, wear labels such as sloth and indolence like badges of honor.

That seems sensible and expedient. Thus, I revoke my nomination for (21), "Laziest Compiler Award - SoBad."

No need, see above. But I'm more than glad to take you up on your offer on shadow categories, and honor you with the nomination for (22) "Most Less-Than-Honorable; the SoBad Special Achievement Award" for your scurrilous diligence.

Das Leben is ein Born der Lust aber wo das Gesindel mittrinkt da sind alle Brunnen vergiftet.

Personally, philosophy classes are the easiest, you write how many pages the prof requires of thee [and just a little more] and everyone's already aced it. Simple as that. Wells where crows draws from are all contaminated! So called philosophers are just credit fillers for college students trying to string a better GPA.;) [except for the true seekers of higher knowledge]

Some very good points there. Since there's very little nomination going on otherwise, I think we agree that we are ready to launch the polls.
