Wow the covid rankings steals a lot of player. This is so unfair for the players who improved since 2 years.

Medvedev is even closer to Djokovic without COVID ranking points than with them? That’s interesting.
Yeah, partially because Med has played 18 tournaments in the past 12 months while Djokovic has played 13, and out of those 13, 3 don't count (2020 USO 4R default, 2020 Rome title and 2020 RG final scheduling weirdness) -- so effectively Djokovic has 10 countable tournaments in this time span.

Ah, that makes sense.

So what would Federer's ranking be if he were eligible for a protected ranking in normal times or does that not apply?

I know the question was probably already asked, but how will YE#1 be attributed in 2021?
Is it based on the ATP race at the end of the year (currently : Djokovic, Tsitsipas, Rublev) or on the official ATP Covid Ranking (Djokovic Medvedev Nadal)?

If (for instance) Djokovic is still #1 after the WTF thanks to the covid ranking, but Tsitsipas or Medvedev total more points in the Race (2021 points only), then who gets YE#1?

I keep reading different versions on different websites and it confuses me. Thanks.

other question, when (precisely) will the ranking system get back to normal? On some sites they say Canada... on others they say Cincinnati. Why would the players still keep 50% of their 2019 points in Toronto, but not in Cincinnati?

The non-COVID rankings seem to be a better representation of how much in form the top players are currently. You wouldn’t do too good predicting matches if you used the COVID rankings.

Year end no 1 will be determined by the points from 2021 only

One pattern I see is that a lot of Next Gen guys really see their progression being slowed down considerably : Sinner, Korda, Musetti, Fokina, Alcaraz. And Karatsev, who would be in the top 10 lol. Very frustrating for those players. When the Covid ranking will end there will be a revolution happening out there, looking forward to witness that

No, he'd have protected ranking, which would allow him to enter the main draw of big tournaments. Would have had a different draw, but he would've played the same tournaments he has.
And it's not like he wouldn't get wildcards to any tournament he wanted to enter anyway
