TIER 3 : SIR ANDREW BARRON MURRAY

'HipRay' and the chubby Raonic will destroy the new Gen and the new new Gen in the first week of Wimbledon.
Book it!

Shap for the win (kidding!). Has no one ever told him that that service toss will never hold up under pressure?
Too bad, because I like the guy.

It is a good list. What is strange is that all of the better grass court players or who should be good grass court players are playing really poorly right now or are injured. I am thinking of Kyrios, Hurcacz, Berretini, FAA, Shapo, Korda, Tiafoe.

The Fedal crowd tried to suggest that 2022 Wi should have an asterisk due to Russians being excluded though none of them have gone far in Wimbledon, but this year is more in need of an asterisk due to all the lack of in-form and injuried players.

In real life AO22 is the closest we get to an asterisk, no other slam IMO can be asterisked, if the fav at any slam is fit and not allowed to compete then it is an asterisk, otherwise if the fav is injured then the slam is normal, the russians are not fav at wimbledon, they dont even know how to play on grass, so there is no asterisk.

The fact Murray isn't included in OP's post is an absolute travesty, especially as he has recently won a challenger event on grass AND is in the QF of another challenger event right now and y'know him being a two-time former Wimbledon champion on home turf.

As for names that are for sure playing and could cause an upset I would say:

- Murray, as mentioned.
- Kyrgios/Berrettini, I include these two together because I'm not sure if they are still injured, if not. Both very dangerous.
- Norrie, will have home support, showed last year he's not to be taken lightly but probably doesn't fit upset territory
- FAA, Not sure where his level is right now but I think he's capable on a good day
- Shapovalov, like FAA not sure where his form is but capable on a good day
- Dimitrov, He hasn't been playing too bad lately, could be a wildcard
- Raonic, More hopeful than anything after so long out but ya never know!

I can't speak for the rest of the top-10, but the only person who can upset Novak at the Wimbledon (especially this year!) is Novak himself (it's if something suddenly gets into his head and derails his game so much ,that he'll underperform at 30% of his abilities or something and the other guy will actually use it to his advantage...because let's face it not many players do, even when Novak gives them chance!...)...just my two cents...

Add Murray to the list.

The Muzziah isn't likely to win Wimbers but I have a feeling he could take some scalps this year. He's barely on the verge of being seeded so he'll have his chances at some potential upsets in the first week. For example: a marathon 5 setter with multiple match points for both players vs Alcaraz. Or, even jucier, a straight sets win over his grass court pigeon; Novak Djokovic, for the first time in a decade.

According to the live rankings, if he wins Nottingham and gets a couple of wins at Queens, that should be enough to secure him a seeding. Very gettable.

Yes, the OP is just being remiss in not including Murray, Norrie and Evans as potential upsetters. Draper too if he had not got himself injured.

The Tier 1 and 2 list is bigger favorites to go deep than the current top 10 bar Djokovic.

Seriously. Murray, Kyrgios, Fucsovics, Cressy, Hurkacz are all better contenders than the likes of MedZedPas, who are completely lost on grass. Even Berrettini in his crippled state is more of a threat to Djokovic now than Zverev.

2nd week upset possible - Tiafoe, Struff, Kyrgios, Norrie, Griekspoor, Hurkacz and Berrettini.

Murray's currently listed as 7th favourite with the bookies. He has to be taken seriously.
Ladies and gentlemen, that's why OP insisted on not including Andrew in the list despite the popular demand, not even as tier 2 threat.

Getting breadsticked on GRASS by De Minaur of all people LOL

What if Murray tanked Queens (A tournament he has already established is his) to prepare his body for Wimbledon after previously winning two challengers and turning orange?

He didn't but what if.

Unlikely as I think he wanted to be seeded at Wimbledon. I also think he needs to be extremely lucky to win 2 matches there, I'd be surprised if he wins more than 2.

'HipRay' was gassed.
The Scotsman had just won a couple of Challengers tournaments.
He will no longer be able to be a seeded player for Wimbledon.
He could face Djokovic, Alcaraz in the first round.
:D

The fact that Alex di minaur is not on this list is a travesty.

There is only one list, that i can think of where De Minaur belongs to, it the list of "most wanted" individuals for that crime against humanity of the mustache, that he is wearing! He should get locked up and held in the Asylum and kept as far away from public as possible for commiting that attrocity!

Second update: Bublik takes van Rijthoven place in Tier I, van Rijthoven goes into Tier II with a question mark, Tiefoe and Korda go up a tier, De Minaur and RBA make Tier II and FAA drops to Tier II with a question mark.

Ruud is the standout seed who is primed for a R1 loss if he plays anyone who has gained grass match play the past few weeks. Why has he played 0 grass matches? He seems resigned to the fact he will never do anything on the surface which I think is a poor mentality. I recall last year when he lost to Peniston at Queen's I think.

Berrettini/Kyrgios have hardly any match play, R3-R4 seems realistic but they could draw a tough opponent - Kyrgios is likely the one who can rock up and go deep, I feel Berrettini needs more confidence through matchplay.

FAA and Shapo are all over the place, again R3 seems likely unless they find some inspiration/make a mental breakthrough during the early rounds.

Cressy could be a threat on his day but his results have been poor for a long time - people seem to have worked him out? Or has his form dipped massively?

TVR is injured - don't think he's down for Wimbledon.

I heard that the weather forecast is for hot days during Wimbledon just like it was at Queens this week. Likely means that the grass will dry out and be like green clay in the 2nd week which means that the best clay courters might do better than expected. Maybe the 2nd week of Wimbledon might not look that different from the French Open second week.

I feel Lehecka and Rinderknech might have it in them to cause an upset but I'm not really sure because I haven't watched them enough..

If Bublik gets to Djokovic look out. I think he's a better version of Kyrios when he's serious. Of course he's better than Thompson who made it close with S&V.
Add Tiafoe to the mix. too.
