Prefer him over someone like Gaudio. At least he did something besides that slam win.Hey what about Thomas Johansson, he played well but he do got easy draw and underperforming Marat.
What are your view about his win
What does it mean?I like how people can instantly tell what this response means
Too harsh.Krajicek was mostly a journeyman, but got hot that one time
KordaI got the idea of the thread named "Deserving player not won a slam" to make a similar thread this time about the overachievers-players who were far beyond at quality but somehow won a slam-Thomas Johansson obviously come to mind, maybe Gaudio also. Other suggestions ?
Caught with a positive meth test, Andre was never caught doping. Meth ain't doping.Caught doping and let off with lie during that same period
Muster!!? Undeserving? He was a #1 ranked player and won 44 c!ay titles, but didn't deserve to win the FO?Goran. Muster. Cilic. Ferrero.
Ferrero, really? 3 clay masters, 4 times SF or better in a row in the French. 3 slam finals. He was young as hell and was robbed most of his career by injury. Man you're drunkGoran. Muster. Cilic. Ferrero.
Actually from one slam wonders only Thomas Johansson has a weak draw from atp side from last 25 odd yearsNot sure many names come to mind in last 20 years from men's side.
Gaudio didn't disappear after the French Open of 2004. He also qualified for the masters cup of 2005. That was when Federer gave him a double bagel iirc. He was a top ten player for 2 years more or less, until mid 2006. After that he fell apart very quickly, which wasn't such an unusual thing back then. Before the big 3, it was expected for most players to fall apart in their late 20s.Prefer him over someone like Gaudio. At least he did something besides that slam win.
If you win a Slam, you deserve it.
The guy that came closest to not deserving the Slam would probably be Gaudio, though.

I mean it's not like there's anyone closer is there? He went through a tough draw lol.

@Third Serve going to write the same thing, Thomas was the only one from atp side came close with weak draw in last few years.Thomas Johansson had a quite easy draw, he had to beat Bjorkman and Jiri Novak to reach the final, where he played a hungover Safin
the Safin half was very hard, with matches like Rios Haas, Safin Sampras, Safin Haas, while the Johansson half had collapsed from upsets, with Hewitt and Kuerten losing in first round

If Korda hadn't doped perhaps the winner would have been someone like Karol Kucera. Rios played very badly.
Isn't it naïve to think that was the only time in his life he took PEDs?Korda's failed drug test was at 1998 Wimbledon.
Agreed. It’s just a sign of low intellect.I've never understood equating a tennis player to an athlete with the most precise footwork and body control as being an insult - I always considered this a huge compliment. I guess that's just me.
Costa.
I thought this was going to be about MurrayGOAT underserving
How did you think Cilic? He beat Berdych Federer and Nishikori without dropping 1 set.At the time I thought Cilic but then he made two more finals so go figure.

Sam was in another final at RG and she beat Serena.Jelena Ostapenko, Sam Stosur
Meldo not likely to have a significant performance-enhancing effect in a young, healthy person
I don't. I fell bad for that.I like how people can instantly tell what this response means
Only deserved slams should count. Many that won slams deserved them not. And some that lost deserved them. Can you give those slams to them? Then do not be too eager to take slams away in judgement.
