Yesterday I played my first session with the M99.
My racquets for the last 15 years have always been some kind of Pro Stock, I like to play with the specs, but for the last 5 years I have been using the Gravity Tour (341.1/341.2) with a lot of lead (3/9/12) and silicon.
However, I am getting tired of using these heavy frames and wanted to try something with a little more power and less weight, something like this M99, Extreme Tour/Pro, etc.
Comments:
Great stability, I use 3/9 lead in my Gravity's for stability, but found no need with the M99.
Moderate power, very controllable racquet in my opinion.
You definitely have to be ready to hit the ball, if you do not hit it with the right technique you will feel it.
Light, but not at the same time, it is very strange to describe it, in my opinion I did not feel the change from my racquet that weighs 325 grams without strings to this M99 that weighs 300 grams.
It is also worth mentioning that I did not feel that I improved much in all shots, I felt that I was playing "the same" level as usual, but for me the advantage is that my arm did not get tired and is a PLUS.
The forehand improved a little in power and spin, the backhand slice was a little difficult, I think because of the width of the racquet.
The best were hitting volleys, definitely a pleasure to hitm very solid feeling
I also struggled a lot with my serve, I'm used to a 340 sw and when I hit that the racquet follows its course with a lot of plow and with this M99 the plow half exists, again you need to have a good technique to generate the plow yourself.
Overall , with this first session I must say I might keep it and make the switch, like I said I did not improve a lot, but for me i was looking for something new and with less weight but not loosing my "level" and I think I found it.
The raquect i bought it from a fellow member and it came with MSV Focus-Hex Soft 17 1.20mm 46/44 (my normal set up is Toro Toro / Enso Pro) , I must say i really liked this string i will keep using it.
