Novak Djokovic: Roger had a beautiful send-off at the Laver Cup in London. We were all there, with his family, to say goodbye to him at a magnificent event in a magnificent arena. It must have been special for him and there is no doubt that he deserved it. One thing I know is that I will definitely want my great rivals to come and say goodbye to me.
So he'll be retiring at a Laver Cup?

By then he'll have a losing h2h vs. all the young guns, especially Alcaraz and Medvedev.... and he won't even win the Slam Race.

I think he's just giving Roger and Rafa advance notice that he expects them to be at his retirement event even though by then they will be long retired.
Djokovic can't even beat Nadal at Roland Garros anymore, even when Nadal misses 6 weeks of preparation with a broken rib....

Novak will be fine.

Sometime within the next 2 years, he's going to have the slam record, and after Nadal stops, so will he probably.

I really do think Fed will be there to celebrate Novak's career after the kind treatment he gave Fed.

Roger better!

We might even have a historic picture of Srdjan shaking Roger's hand. Even though Srdjan will probably wear a HAZMAT suit just so Roger knows his place.

But I do think Fed would come - in all seriousness. I don't know about Nadal though. I would not be surprised if Novak and Rafa have some relational repairing to do before Rafa would come.

But what do I know?

Laver Cup 2029...yes...

3029 lol

His major retirement bomb is that he has no plans to retire?
Its that Djokovic won't retire immediately after winning/losing a slam.
He'll wait until the Laver Cup, same as Federer.
Whereas Nadal's retirement is a complete mystery, other than him repeatedly saying he'll play for as long as he's a slam contender.

I'll have to re-read the article.

For some reason, I never saw the quote of Djokovic saying he's going to retire at the Laver Cup.

Djokovic said: "It must have been special for him and there is no doubt that he deserved it. One thing I know is that I will definitely want my great rivals to come and say goodbye to me."
The Laver Cup is the only way to have that kind of goodbye ceremony with your rivals present.... I've never seen any other tournament have all the rivals meet together and give speeches about the retiring player etc.

Did you expect anything less from this guy?
I didn't write the title, its from the URL link- https:// firstsportz.com/tennis-news-novak-djokovic-drops-a-major-retirement-bomb-following-his-triumph-at-the-tel-aviv-open/

I wonder who his major rivals will be in 3029?
Well he couldn't even beat Alcaraz or Nadal in 2022....

Just beat him last year and almost won 2 sets this year. Would've most likely won the match if he finished the 4th 6-3 on his serve. Won a set 6-1 in Rome last year. Beat him multiple times on clay in 2014-2016...
In comparison Nadal can't even win a SET against Djokovic on hard courts .... in 10 years, he hasn't won one set since 2013.
Too funny.

By then, you may grow up and wake up from your dreams at the Lala land…
Every time I wake up I see Nadal still has The Slam Record, just as I always said he would...
Me = The Ultimate Winner

Thanks for confirming my statement. Nadal has taken over the slam race fairly recently. Therefore, growing up will be the key for you. Not that long ago, there was another guy ;)

Alcaraz is 16 years younger than Djokovic

Something would have to go seriously wrong for him to not have a H2H advantage over Djokovic, specially if he plays on into his late 30s

I think he is saying he won't retire for a very long time.

If he does it will be the saddest day of the week. Well unless something else happens like an old woman dies or something

lol “broken rib”

...And he talks like it's "just another day in the office" to beat Nadal at French Open anyway! Like Novak is supposed to beat him everytime he faces him there, nvm that no one else was able to beat him there more than once and the only other player other than himself to do it even once is Soderling all the way back in 2009! LOL this "paint" guy makes no sense whatsoever...

I hope they don't hold Djokovic's retirement tournament in a nation that requires a Covid vaccination for entry . . .

When the time comes, it will probably be at the Serbian Open in Belgrade where he is a national hero.

Lol the plandemic is over... narrative is just about gone so requirements won't be required.

Covid vaccination requirement to travel will be history in a year or two! LOL We don't have to worry about such details...

No. The pandemic is not over. Across the USA pediatric hospitals and pediatric hospital wards are full of children very sick with a respiratory disease. The nightmare continues. Apparently, now that children are no longer wearing masks - which protected them from the flu and cold viruses in addition to Covid (YES! marks are effective deterrents despite what moron Rand Paul and his ilk spew) - they are now more susceptible to the new flu and cold variants and are being hit very hard. As usual, you may send your thoughts and prayers.
