Novak Djokovic, frustrated with Lacoste: “I’m not satisfied with how they do my marketing promotion”

He decided to settle his accounts with everyone

“I’m not happy with the way my sponsor does my marketing promotion, I’m frustrated,” Djokovic said on Monday at the All England Club after advancing to the quarterfinals.

“In recent years I’ve had dissatisfaction and frustration because many people looking for my products don’t have the possibility to find them in my sponsor’s stores. Some things are changing for the better now, but I am still not satisfied, because everything could be better,” he explained to Serbian media.

“I hope that my sponsor will increase the level of production and quantity, but also availability, so that people have the opportunity to find the products. The level of tennis I’m playing is very popular all over the world,” he added.

Oh geez. Maybe he’s in his villain era (Taylor Swift style) and using this to anger himself to barnstorm to another slam win. Cause the man is picking fights left, right and centre.
It's the same baseline irritation that's been bothering him his whole career. No matter how much he wins, he doesn't think he gets the adulation/respect/love that he thinks he deserves. It's little man's complex because he may have won more tennis matches than Fed and Rafa, but he'll always be their little brother.

Things like this won’t help him which you’d think he’d learn. He could very well win slam number 29 here (I’m being facetious there to make my point) but you’re right, he won’t be loved. And this doesn’t help. But that’s his legacy. He’ll be the GOAT of tennis stats but not the GOAT people who love the sport care about.

In the end, it was never about records. It was about love. And as they say,

There's nothing you can know that isn't known.
Nothing you can see that isn't shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be. It's easy
All you need is love.

That's too bad. I guess he'll have to settle for being the greatest tennis player of his era. We all can't get everything we want.

He's right though. I couldn't get a Djokovic hat from Lacoste when I looked. Not online and not in their physical stores

You would think he may one day learn to be happy with that. He can't undo acting like a jerk in the past. He can't complain his way into having people forget those things.

Interesting- Novak is frustrated at one of his main sponsors who is paying him millions of dollars a year? Maybe he can get Lacoste to lower the cost of his signature line so more people could afford those clothes?

He did have to show up to that seemingly mandatory Lacoste players party in Miami earlier this year despite having zero other reason to be there and family back home

Also LOL at the Djokovic haters and armchair psychologists saying this is because of anything beyond what he is actually saying

Have you tried finding his gear in Lacoste stores? It's really hard to find, when it shouldn't be

There is reason to be there, that's what endorsement sponsor deals is all about. If hanging out in Miami for a bit in exchange for free gear and milions of dollars is not to his liking, he shouldn't take on sponsors.
It comes with obligations - from both ends.

For the record I have a lot of the same qualms with the utterly ridiculous Uniqlo. How ****ing hard is it to stock a RF hat? They don’t even sell them.

The difference is, I have seen plenty of RF hats out and about in my life.

I actually liked one of the Lacoste tennis polos on display in Soho, but it was nearly $200.
What is the standard price for caps these days? I pay around a score. That better be one tasty burger if it's 200 quid.

Oh, never mind, missed out on polo.

My top spin character currently wears a dazzling Lacoste shirt. (y)

This feels like a good time to mention that Rafa fan who collects every hat

That saved you from having to be seen sporting his terrible looking player logo. Be thankful.
It's a very cleverly constructed logo. It incorporates his initials ND, a tennis ball, and the number 1, and traditional Serbian initials without having it look busy

A terrible looking player logo is Murray's. It was so terrible that Murray himself barely used it

I do agree with you that he had an obligation to be there. Which is why I said he had zero other reason to be there. I just think little things like this have probably added to his frustration over time
