Novak Djokovic - Overcoming Adversity | The Movie (2016-19)

A quality little movie showing all the ups and downs that Djokovic went through between winning that historic French Open in 2016 and claiming his 4th Laureus Sportsman of the Year award few days ago. A lesson that you shouldn't take anything for granted, something that applies to even the most stunning athletes.

Enjoy the video. There are plenty more of them on this channel as well.

It's fascinating how similar his fall and return were in terms of which tournaments were the highlights.

He started collapsing at Wimbledon, same place where he started returning to form two years later.

After being over 8k points ahead in June, he quickly lost the number 1 ranking in Paris, same place where he returned to the top in 2018, after being #22 in June.

But like I said right after Wimbledon, this shouldn't become a period of unrealistic expectations all over again, but just a reminder that greats like Djokovic don't go away that easily, and that he still has a bit more to say before he calls it a day.

This channel is

facing adversity? To me adversity means you have strong rivals, of which he has none.

There is a lot of truth in that.

It is already a pretty tired act to picture him as a martyr. I thought that he is over that, but apparently not.

Previously Nadal, and now him.

No offence to the video makers or anyone else but 12 minutes of adversity in a 46 minute long movie is not how you do it.
Should have shown more about his moments of doubt.
Adversity is a prime instrument for making a movie touching and heartfelt. The characters shine through adversity.
Victory and glory are simply saved for the very end.
Not at all implying that the video is bad or something. I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it but I was left wanting for more at the 12 minute mark. There was so little from his AO'18 match. They had everything that is needed to make a movie great but they didn't execute it all that well.
And that weird song that was being played in the background at the time of his Wimbledon victory was meh. Utter destruction of a beautiful moment.

He's gone through his own difficulties and misfortunes for a couple of years, overcame that adversity and returned stronger again. Nice attempt to start a discussion that we have in hundreds of threads already though...
Why so sick, Michael? Glorious days recently, 2019 has already been epic, #TennisWins... :)

You know @MichaelNadal was right, it was the rest of us who didn't see it at that time. He saw the light shining out through the darkness, bringing life back to this planet. He knew that that loss just p!$$ed off Earth's Mightiest Warrior, and when he had said enough is enough, and it is time to vanquish all evil...starting off with winning the very next slam....and then the two that followed...since that Glorious day, Djokovic has gone 21-0 in slam play, completed the Masters set of all 9, reclaimed the heavyweight title as world number one and equalled Federer on YE#1....MN knew that after the darkest night was coming the glorious day. Hats off to MN for never losing faith in Earth's Mightiest, even at the expense of the King of Epic himself.

The role of Triple H played by Djokovic, and swap the quad for the elbow

I watched the first 18-20 mins of it until he wins Wimbledon. He had a lot of tough losses and the video touches on that very well.
