Novak Djokovic Trolled By Chris Evert For Calling Rivalry With Nadal 'greatest In Tennis'

No need to pressure Djokovic into exact phrasings, he's a sportsperson not a scientist or a journalist and giving interviews as such.

Theirs is the most prolific Open Era male singles rivalry indeed. Still hesitate to call it da greatest with these limitations, due to a high number of one-sided matches.

So world’s greatest tennis player of all times is talking about his rivalry with world’s second greatest tennis player of all times, it’s understandable he doesn’t need to specify that they are men, despite the occasional boob throw.

Well, technically even that movie is about negative identity, as it directly compares them to men in kind of a misleading way.

Well, technically it doesn't matter cause it is a movie about women tennis, which in turn is an answer to a Nadal devotee claim that there are no books or movies about women tennis which is either way non-sense statement per se.

is there any movie claiming that they are "world’s greatest tennis player of all times" and "world’s second greatest tennis player of all times"?
if not, apparently you can't claim this

:D :D :D

if you ask me, she has the right, cause she pointed her rivalry as bigger than Djokodal
it is however another discussion that 2 wrongs don't make 1 correct.
If you carefully read her tweet, she was wrong. There is no way around that. She implied that her rivalrie with Martina was the biggest, which again, is factually incorrect. If Djokovic was wrong because didn't add the caveat of "men's tennis", then she was wrong too when she didn't add the caveat of post 1968 tennis. So she could just grab all that PC bs and put it out in the thrash.

No movies I’m aware of, but I was just reading Djokovic’s mind.
But such great rivalry will inevitably be made into a movie, called “the greatest rivalry of all times”.

80 best of 3 matches, since we are being SO precise ;)

she implied, but she didn't mention it.
while Novak tried to present the world his mistaken opinion as a fact.

fact is that Novak was wrong in his statement.
if you want to correct her, go reach out to her.
or create a new thread.

Novak was definitely wrong. So was she. And after all, this thread is about her response, isn't it?

Exactly. You can’t compare those BO3 matches to some of the 5 set WARS the men have. Fed/Nadal Wimbledon 2008 would’ve been over after 2 sets if it was WTA

like the FO 2020?
yeah, it was a great WAR, except that it was one player spanking the other one, if we talk in terms of many Novak fans on this board.

I wish Rosewall made a bunch of social media accounts and started trolling everyone, like all octogenarians should do.

Evert simply corrected someone that needed correcting. Djokovic needs to be hit with reality as often as possible since he obviously tries to live in a dream world. Besides, Djokodal rivalry is WAY too overrated. 12 of their last 14 matches have been decided in straight sets. Rather watch Fedal or Fedovic.
nice turtle neck (y)

Well, my point is you won’t get matches like AO 2012 or Wimbledon 2019 with the women.

Don't think it really matters, most of the public don't like Djokovic based on his former comments about the female tour so will pile in on him (whether it's right or wrong). For the Djoko fans who will criticize me, can you honestly say he's as well liked as Nadal and Fed and even Serena or Venus? No.

Fed and Nadal were a masterclass at being neutral while Djokovic threw that out the window, and then there was him hitting a lineswoman in the throat, didn't win him any favours.

And then there's Murray who always respected women at any level.

Pretty clear where the big 4 stood on women's rights. Murray was pro, Fed/Nadal were a bit neutral which was ok and then Novak just criticized and said ****. Easy to see the villian there.

Rivalries' greatness should be decided by how many total eyeballs they attract, not how many times people have played.

Ooft not a good look for Nadal but that's his coach not the player. As i've said many times before, the men and the women aren't at the same level but that's not to say one can't outview and outrank the other by the public . We've seen many, many times where the women's slam final has done better than the mens. So for male players to slam the women's tour, it's stupid. Fed/Nadal have the right approach or Murray who appreciates the culture and respects women. Djokovic less so...

Had a chat to my older relatives and they had no idea about current tennis Djokovic v Nadal (knew the latter but not the former) but they knew all about Navratilova, Seles, Evert and co were. Same for the men of the same period but people forgot the success womens tennis had in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's. Hingis,, Seles and Graf were some of the universal names mentioned. Not Guerten or Coria or Safin or whoever else the men had. And that's just my own experience.

You count "eyeballs" by current day people, remember those who watched the sport way back when.

I'm a huge Djokovic hater, but he's always conducted himself far better than Serena. She's honestly one of the worst. That's not to say Djokovic isn't super annoying and insecure -- he is.

The comments on (un)equal pay are a reasonable take, or at least he shouldn't be denigrated for having an opinion on that which doesn't match yours. You can make arguments both ways.

Serena is not a good representation I fully agree. She plays various victim cards at certain times but so many people here combine the entire WTA under her Diva banner which isn't fair.

I totally agree. Lots of great girls on the WTA. In fact, I also think Venus unfairly gets lumped in with Serena, for better and for worse.

Agreed. The WTA are so much more than Serena whether it be Barty to Vika to Osaka to Halep etc, but then you have vile pigs here who say that the women belong in the kitchen. It's just awful and disgusting.

Totally unnecessary for him to say "men's tennis" and even if Djokovic meant all of tennis, then that is his opinion. Nothing wrong at all with thinking that.

If Djokovic was disrespectful to Evert and Martina, then Evert was disrespectful towards Laver, Rosewall, Pancho and many others. If Djokovic should have clarified that he was exclusively referring to ATP tennis, then Evert should have made the same clarification regarding the open era split. If you are gonna be the virtue signal a**hole, then make sure to get your facts straight beforehand
