Gorecki... No?
I fell on your head, perhaps?were you born that ******** or was it a fall from the crib as a toddler?
Let's face it, Evert hates Novak and when you hate someone with such childish abandon as she does you nitpick over every single word. With all due respect, Chris Evert should just keep her orifices shut. Djokovic is talking about his own perspective. He's not judging all rivalries in tennis and then placing his with Nadal at the top. If Chris Evert feels her rivalry with Martina is one for the ages, she should just come out and say it rather than disparage another player's feedback about his rivalry with a fellow professional. OTHA!
I fell on your head, perhaps?
The "infant falls on head of angry adult" team?i dont play for that team but i dont have a problem with you doing.... you do you "Gurl"
Expecting facts from Evert? So often, that asks for too much.Well, if she was gonna virtue signal, at least she should have stated that there were several men's rivalries from the pre open era days that played way more than 80 times.
Let's face it, Evert hates Novak and when you hate someone with such childish abandon as she does you nitpick over every single word.
She's old news, and she's frustrated, and she needs to consult her 11 Manhattan therapists. It's been a while...
And Rosewall and Laver played 164 times. Neither Evert nor Djoko knows their history
Djokovic's sport is Men's Singles Tennis. When we talk about the GOAT in tennis, we bring up Roger, Laver, Nadal, Serena, Graf, Court. No one mentions Esther Vergeer, with her 48 slams. Clearly when we talk about Federer/Laver/Nadal being the GOAT, we're talking about men's singles. When we talk about Serena/Court/Graf being the GOAT, we're clearly talking about women's singles. If we were talking about all tennis, the unquestionable GOAT is Vergeer.
When we talk about Serena being GOAT, keep your mouth shut about men. When we talk about Fed/Nadal/Laver being GOAT, don't talk about women. They're not comparable because they don't play together.
Djokodal has played 56 matches, Fedal only 40. Not following your reasoning. If she thinks quantity > quality, wouldn't Djokodal be better?I stand with Evert, reason below:
She claims she played Navratilova over 80 times so her rivalry with Navratilova is the "greatest" in women's tennis, in response to Novak's claim that Djokodal is the "greatest". What she's really implying is that the term "greatest", according to her is based on the number of matches played, not necessarily content quality. This means, she believes Djokodal < Fedal, which I totally agree with.
Well, if we did that I'd have to put Vergeer. 96.5% win rate, 4 consecutive OG, 148 singles titles, 136 doubles, 14 YEC, 668 weeks as #1. I'd say that very much rivals Martina, particularly as there's much fewer wheelchair events. That didn't stop the TCC creating a Top 100 where men and women were included together! It was done a few years ago so Federer is the definitive #1 overall! Serena was barely in the top 10 back then, but now I'm sure they'd elevate her to top if not close! Not sure Djokovic was in the top 20, but that would have to change as well! I'll always place Navratilova over everybody with her "more than versatile" record! No one will ever come close to winning 167 singles & 177 doubles titles even if #1 GOAT needs to have the most singles majors!
The "infant falls on head of angry adult" team?
Do they play in a baseball league?
An all-catchers team... which is not your cuppatee.
Djokodal has played 56 matches, Fedal only 40. Not following your reasoning. If she thinks quantity > quality, wouldn't Djokodal be better?
It's all good. Chris made a point - supported by Martina N and BJK - it wasn't "trolling" on her part.
No harm, no foul by anyone, except the person who considered this trolling.
Has anyone ever written a book about women's tennis or made a film, like (Borg & McEnroe) Fire & Ice, about it?
I can recommend these two books highly:
Grace Lichtenstein
A long way, baby: Behind the scenes in women's pro tennis
Jon Wertheim
Venus Envy: Power Games, Teenage Vixens, and Million-Dollar Egos on the Women's Tennis Tour
They cover very different and incredibly important eras in the women's game. They are packed with great reportage of the time but are easy reads. Highly entertaining stuff.
All of a sudden it pops into my head, I was on a plane 30 odd years ago and a young lady was sitting next to me reading "Ladies Of The Court," by Michael Mewshaw! It had a picture of Graf and Seles on it! I'm guessing it hits on both the ascension to greatness by Graf, her best rivals in the 90's, and the stabbing of Seles! Just a guess!
Could someone explain the rationale for a mixed ranking? That whole series was strange from the get-go.That didn't stop the TCC creating a Top 100 where men and women were included together! It was done a few years ago so Federer is the definitive #1 overall! Serena was barely in the top 10 back then, but now I'm sure they'd elevate her to top if not close! Mewshaw has written some great stuff. Very controversial and interesting reading. As an outsider to tennis, he has often been in a very good position to lift the lid on some shocking stuff involving the safety of players and also the conflicts of interest in the sport that not many people write about.
Don’t get the reference
In 70s and 80s , women's tennis was in pathetic state. Chris and Martina would meet in the finals all the time.
If tennis was so competitive as it is today, they won't meet half the times they have done.
Nadal Djokovic is certainly more special and a bigger rivalry.
Djo should learn tennis history more.
No it's not like these days. Those who have seen in 80s know how the woman's tour was. Beyond 4-5 players, others couldn't even hit decent shots and run.oh, just like ATP is today? when the Big 3 is making all the finals?
If you want to be sooo precise. 79 of those matches were 2 of 3 sets. They played one that was actually a 3 of five set at the Virginia Slims Championships in 1984 except Martina won it 6–3, 7–5, 6–1 I am an Evert Nerd.80 best of 3 matches, since we are being SO precise

These matches didn't take place on the ATP Tour. It's not even the biggest in men's tennis. Gonzales and Rosewall faced each other 78 times in 1957 alone.
Is Chris upset that no one has written a book like Strokes of Genius about her rivalry with Martina?

Because he will never be part of anything that’s considered greatest in the history of tennis.Murray would never have made Djokovic's mistake.
Hold your talk untill your icon wins 2 back to back Olympic gold medals on different surfaces first.Because he will never be part of anything that’s considered greatest in the history of tennis.
LOL. That slap...
IMO, Evert is being rather silly as it is obvious that Novak was talking about Men's tennis. Actually Rosewall vs Gonzalez is probably the biggest rivalry in tennis having played each other more than 100 times. Laver vs Rosewall I think played each other close to 100 times.leave aside you Nadal devotee lenses for a second, then you will see that technically she is correct, 80 matches is a bigger H2H then what Djokodal have.
nothing wrong in correcting Novak here.
Very well putX!Evert and Navratilova's immediate insecurity here speaks volumes about them.
Methinks the ladies doth protest a bit too much!

"Our sport"..I can't see the point Chris Evert is making. Everyone knows Djokovic was talking about men's tennis. There isn't a combined body for tennis the WTA & ATP are completely separate.
So when they say Serena is the greatest of all time do they include the men?"Our sport"..
And people liked this drivel.
Since Fed or Rafa with pneumonia would beat her 6-0, 6-1 I sure hope not. And I'm being generous gifting her even one game.So when they say Serena is the greatest of all time do they include the men?
"History of the sport" includes more than just the ATP, wouldn't you say? These matches didn't take place on the ATP Tour.
The results of the Open era carry more weight."History of the sport" includes more than just the ATP, wouldn't you say?

Greatest Olympian in tennis?Oh won't he? Really???
She is not right because greatness of rivalries is not measured in number of matches. I have played 100+ matches against my buddy on Sundays in our local club yet nobody cares. Whether these hypersensitive people today like it or not, the men’s competition is the pinnacle in almost each and every sports. I have nothing but respect for the women’s achievements same as I have respect for the best youth players in the world or best wheelchair players. All of them are putting tremendous effort in it and deserve every praise but it lies within the human nature that in terms of watching sports you want to watch the best of the best and those are the men (same reason why more people watch Champions league than second French division). This is just one example why we see the rise of right populism, fight for equalty has its absolute place in our lives, but this sjw stuff on every word/matter is just fuel for the populist... and I do not wonder anymore why some people are easy prey for them.
If you press too much in a too short period you could get a reverse reaction as expected.
Let's be honest, we as society are not there yet and we have to be careful with when and how we address sensitive issues.
Yes, Evert is technicaly right, but does it have to be like a gestapo check on every word a foreign athlete tells.
