Novak Djokovic was ONE set away from a CYGS this year

If he somehow puts away Alcaraz in say the second set TB he wins that match in 4 sets (or less).
He was closer this year than any other player has been since Laver in 1969.

No.

Your CYGS dream ends the moment you lose. Djokovic lost in the Wimbledon final and the CYGS was done. You can't retroactively look back and say he was a set away from the CYGS because he wasn't.

We don't know that if he won Wimbledon and thus held all 3 slams that he would go on and do what he just did at the US Open. We saw what the pressure did to him 3 years ago.

One Carlos away from it is more accurate.

Djokovic dropped only 10 sets at Slams all year. 2 in that weird Djere match at the USO last week, one to Khachanov and Rublev in RG/WB quarters, one to a servebotting Hurkacz at Wimbledon, and a random set to Couacaud. In other words, largely throwaway sets where the result was NID aside from Djere and possibly Hurkacz had he taken that set point.

The other 4 sets? Taken by Carlos. He nearly took more sets from Novak than the entire tour combined.

...But he was also one set away from losing to Djere in straight sets at the US Open in the 3rd round, so let's stop with these useless hypotheticals now...

No chance of winning the 2023 US Open if he won 2023 Wimbledon.
The mini-man has no heart when presented with the ultimate challenge, as shown when Medbunny 64 64 64ed him.
