"We have confirmation that Novak Djokovic will play in Turin next week." Angelo Binaghi, president of the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation, broke the deadlock and announced the Serbian champion's participation in the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals. The 38-year-old from Belgrade, who qualified a few weeks ago, was in doubt due to his physical condition and recent statements about the uncertainty surrounding the scheduling: Djokovic had only officially confirmed his participation in the ATP 250 in Athens, but the green light for the Masters tournament in Italy has reportedly arrived in the coming days.

Living in Italy, where the ATP Finals are held, I have a special preference for knowing certain news in advance. It was the least I could do to share it with the forum, breaking my self-imposed rule.
Greetings to the whole non-harmful part of this forum.

Greetings!

Surprises me tbf. I thought we would get to see both FAA and Musetti. I'm hoping we get FAA though as Musetti would be less competitive based on recent form imo.

Has this been confirmed by the boss of bosses?

Good. Will probably be his last appearance in Torino anyway. Everyone looks spent or sucks in Indoors fast courts, except Sinner. I genuinely think he has his chance against everybody else, including Alcaraz and Zverev. If he has Alcaraz De Minaur and Shelton in his group, he will most likely qualify for the semis. Opportunity to beat more top-10 at 38 and get 200 or 400 easy points if he wins 1 or 2 matches. Opportunity to secure his top-4 ranking for a long time in 2026 (since he basically only has his Miami points to defend between AO and RG). Can only be bonus to him, even if loses all his matches. Not sure Italian fans will appreciate though, given Musetti is #9 in the Race. Djokovic will rob him of his first (and maybe only) ATP Finals.

Agree with everything except the first line. Dude’s ego is still way too big to even think about not playing this tournament.

Think about it, anyone inside the top 100 can qualify for a Slam; only the top 8 qualify for the WTF. He’ll want to keep playing this as long as he can. After all he is the reason it’s in Italy and not the UK any longer. There is a reason he did that

I think FAA’s confirmed no? Unless Musetti wins Athens and FAA loses in R1 in his 250 tournament.

He deserves to play the last appearance of his career at the ATP Finals this year.
:D

Don’t think he can take #1 unless Alcaraz has a shocker.
Before Paris, that was true. Alacaraz would have had to flop completely to lose the year-end no. 1. But now, although he doesn't have to win the event, a decent performance is required if Sinner goes undefeated. (Naturally, if Sinner flops, all bets are off.) For example, if Alcaraz goes a respectable 2-1 in the RR and then loses in the SF, I believe Sinner claims the rankings prize if he wins all his matches.

Fair enough. Alcaraz not reaching the final would definitely be a big bummer for him, so I kinda included that in the word “flop”.

Good to see you back after 6 months.
Why 'self imposed rule' .
We are in very exciting times with Sincaraz rivalry at absolute peak. Should participate in forum imo

Time for litmus test against top 7 players.
Novak has to win 2 matches to show he can still fight for slams.
Sinner and alcaraz will not lose to him but others can .

I am stoked about this.

To me it is a no-brainer for Djokovic (assuming he is healthy) because he can get a lot of points and be in the Top 4 to get a better draw in the AO.

He is great enough to win without a Top 4 draw, but it can help.
I think getting better ranking is counter productive for him. There are two guys that he cannot beat at the Slam...in later stages. Both of them are more shaky early on, especially Carlos, and get better and better with every round. ND, on the other hand, peaks in the third round and starts declining (physically) from there on. While Carlos and Sinner are on their peak in the SF/F, ND is spent at that point.
I believe he'd have a much better chance (if any) beating them in the first 3 rounds, i.e. if lower ranked/unseeded.
The bad thing is -- he'd still have to meet the other one in the final...

I do not believe he is able to get his form back to the champion level even if he got very serious about it. Those days are behind us.

I have a feeling he will show up, do all the press, take the appearance fee, play one match, and then allow an alternate to take his place. The fact that he's wavering on this tournament means he is trying to go all-in for the grand slams, which mean more to him.

Is there any rule to change the player after playing 1 match. Don't think so
