Novak fans, are you ready for 18?

The planets were aligned for Novak.

He was healthy and fit.
He had a New Moon in Gemini.
2020 was a 4 year, Novak was born on the 22nd. The last 4 year was 2011.

Would've been his last great year, but might've been spectacular.
The planets aligned for Djokovic by giving him 2 weak generations and and old man who can't close out championship point on his serve. Yet despite all this he is still on 17 and has not reached 20.

Well Djoker still has plenty of time, but this was his chance to start to run away with it.
once Felix starts peaking, it is over for him. Might already be over for him if someone like Thiem beats him at his pet slam next year. It is going to be fun watching 36 year old Djokovic playing peak Felix. I will be in troll mode. Karma is Karma.

Could change things for sure. As a Canadian this is good stuff going forward.

Djoker might play for many more years. Or he may not not.
At this age he must treat every Slam opportunity as nearly his last.
You can count on one hand the # of ARE players to win Slams after age 34 or 35.

I'm honestly not sure what is going to happen in the longterm, but I get the impression Novak is not going to play RG. He has too much going on and might need to step away to focus on PTPA commitments.

Also pretty interested to know whether he is going to play WTF (if the event is staged) and how the politics would play out there.

Nonsense. Novak stated that he is seeking the grand slams, will need a better reason to skip it. He will be on the clay soon if Covid doesn't end up cancelling the tournaments there.

What about the 3-Year-Rule?

Steffi: 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96
Kobe: 00, 01, 02 ... 08, 09, 10
Novak: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020

Based on this rule Djokovic has one quality year left. That year may very well be 2020.

What rule? The rule of GOAT? If you meant to say Djokovic is GOAT, then just say it. Don't be shy.

"The expectations for me are quite high. All of us will have a completely new experience. There will be no spectators, a very small team, staying only in the hotel. You have to be honest and keep in mind that many top players will not attend the tournament. That means going far in this tournament it would be worth much less than normal compared to the Australian Open this year. Despite that, I am looking forward to playing

Wonder if they would both stick to that with hindsight...

Will be Nadal v Djokovic final. Nadal may rue not getting more matches in at NY. Djokovic has the best chance to do it. If he does hard to argue against him as GOAT of 21st Century.
This is the best opportunity he will be given, wet clay, rooftop, rusty Nadal, Thiem in Rafas draw.

Thiem will not get to SF and even if he does Nadal would hammer him like he does yearly. How many breadsticks have their been in their RG matches?
Wet clay? Europe is having a heatwave so clay likely to be drier than normal and it will be hotter. Put your money on Nadal v djokovic final. But i think Djokovic will win in 4 as Nadal bound to be rusty and Djokovic is a massive step up in class after 9 months out.

Why you say Thiem will not reach the semi?

He has a whole week to rest, is more confident now that he broke the slam barrier, definitely not rusty like Nadal, and in a semi he will not be nervous like in a final.

I think Nadal still beats him, but this time will be the his thoughest match against Thiem in RG ever.

Thiem will be physically still spent and mentally fried. The idea that he he will now be a member of the Big 4 is absurd. Yes he is an excellent player but there is nothing to suggest he can back up decent runs in slams so close together.

I'm sure he's happy as hell about winning. At the same time he knows the situation and will probably be left wanting more once it wears off a little. Win something with the big boys involved and a crowd in the stadium.

Nadal was out of the game for almost a year and came back in 2013 and made the Chile final, won Brazil, won Mexico, won Indian Wells, made Monte Carlo final, won Barcelona, won Madrid, won Rome, won the French Open, won Rogers Cup, won Cincinnati, and won US Open in probably the most insane and most ridiculously dominant comebacks in the history of tennis. But that was when Nadal was only 26. Now he's 34. And his body can't handle an insane schedule of that level without something breaking.
Regardless, he's the man to beat at the French Open. And Djokovic didn't look that good to me in Cincy or US Open.

Thiem only just turned 27. His body can be ready to go in a week.

Nadal won't be rusty if he reaches the French Open final. LOL
He would have many matches under his belt and would be fully in his groove. And Rome is sunny and hot. It's his turf. It will take something magnificent for someone to take 3 sets off him on Phillipe Chatrier in the finals. Best bet is someone on the level of a Soderling who swings for the fences and is in demolition mode gets him in the first week.

Of course Novak fans (both of them, not counting Srdjan) are ready.

Djokobic just needs to behave himself like a normal person and avoid another DQ.

Nadal has won last 4 clay matches; Djokovic has won last 9 HC matches, and last 2 grass matches.

Djokovic and his team really messed up in the prep, should've never been defeated so badly!

He went with the worst strategy ever full attack against the best counter-puncher on clay. He gave a ton of Nadal's points on unforced errors. That is not Australia where he can hit through his opponent wherever he wants.

He should have adopted the backboard strategy to force a battle of attrition against Nadal.

This thread could become a classic as Djokovic fans could possibly wait for number 18... forever. :-D Two slams have already passed. :-D

It will be this time. I believe! Even if he never wins a slam again i will be waiting forever.
