Novak ia 7 match wins away from becoming GOAT

I will be honest, 9 out of 18 slams one surface doesn't help Djoker as much the total slam count going up. I would love to see him win a French with Nadal in it if not two French. Also want him to pick out other slams.

Same reason that Nadal's many French diminish his argument for GOAT in my mind. Nadal is great clay, and greatest French player in history. Beating him there would help Djoker's claims, give him a second career Grand Slam. Biggest step in my mind.

That is all true but it will never be how things are done by lamestream media.
Federer has over 100 titles yet people focus on Majors. So according to most 80 titles are irrelevant.
I like using peoples arguments against them. So Majors are the be all and end all according to pundits
Which pundits are those other than the knuckleheads on TTW? I include myself in that group so no offense. Listening the other night to Johnny Mac he advised back in the 80's they focused on Year End #1 as the biggest prize. He thinks it still matters, not sure about other pundits. I am sure the opinions are varied.

Djokovic cannot beat Nadal on clay. 4 of last 6 sets on clay have been 6-0 6-0 -6-1 6-2 to Nadal.
Yes, nowadays it seems that djokovic can't hurt nadal because of following reasons

1) his ballstriking power is reduced considerably, so he can't exploit rafa's movement to force errors/short ball putaways as much as he could. Otoh, rafa's ballstriking power is almost intact, and he has became more and more agressive, so he just starts outgunning djokovic from baseline on clay.

2) djokovic's serve is totally nullified on clay against nadal, and so are his returns as we saw last year.

3) djokovic suddenly Changing the direction of the ball, taking it On the rise, trying to take time away from nadal has never worked as effectively on clay, djokovic needed to outgrind the warrior from the back of the court, which he can't afford nowadays.

This year if they play at RG and its say 30c i genuinely think Nadal would bagel him in 2 of three sets. If Djokovic plays the event which im a bit sceptical about.

Haha, Federer's six years older than Djokovic, and still pastes him periodically.

Believe he's beaten Djoker nine times since turning 30. LOL... yeah, that's on the CV forever. :sneaky:

Oh, and Djokovic has feasted on the weakest competition in the history of modern professional tennis.

Next! :D

Age excuses blah blah blah slam count is the only reason why Fed is considered GOAT by many. Be grateful that other criteria are not being used against him yet.

This is a BIG IF. However, if this does indeed happen they YES, he will be the GOAT, BOAT, COAT (COOLEST) ETC ETC.
I was really thinking he would have had Nadal at RG 2020. The conditions were cool, it was night time and he was on a roll. I was shocked he got smashed into dust so easily by Nadal. I was gutted.
After, when I regained my composure I realized that I was a dummy and Nadal cannot be beaten at RG.

So the only way that Nole can beat Nadal at RG is if Nadal beats himself (ie. an injury).
Let's hope an injury to Nadal doesn't happen but IF if does, that's the only way Nole can win there and if he does.....well....then he's the best......ever.

No, the Grand Slam is the year's four majors in the desginated / recognized framework of the calendar year
This issue is already resolved long time ago. Grand Slam can be CYGS or NCYGS. It's recognized this way by ITF, ATP and all other relevant tennis institutions, pundits, journalists, players. Beside few fedal fans, all tennis world knows what NCYGS is.

Eh...no, it was not resolved, as tennis/sport historians are not placing the consolation prize "personal slams" on the level of that won by Laver, Court, et al. Few speak of any "personal slam" winner as being on that level of concenrated dominance it took to win the year's four majors in the same year.

I never said NCY Grand Slam and CY Grand Slam are on a same level. You misread what I wrote, or maybe you mistakingly quoted my comment instead of some other. There's no way you followed some personal agenda and deliberately misrepresented my opinion in order to pretend you beat my argument!?

It's pretty hard to imagine Novak winning RG2021, especially with non-injured Nadal. But...
If he wins all 7 matches at RG, that's it, he's GOAT.
19 GS titles
(NCY)GS
2xCGS
Most years no1
Most weeks no1

Agree?
- There is no GOAT
- If there is, it's not Novak - even if he wins RG
- He's likely not winning RG

If they’re all tied Djokovic will be considered the GOAT because his other achievements overshadow Federer/Nadal, and his slam spread will probably look a little better compared to those two (especially if he can somehow win one more RG).
