Is anyone surprised? LOL!

Honestly, people may complain about it affecting the "GOAT race", but I think the only way he'll learn is if he gets a lengthy playing ban, including not being allowed to play his beloved Australian Open in 2021.

He does this crap because he feels invincible and beyond punishment.

Can you imagine Federer on Nadal do something like this? And this guy wonders why he is not loved and adored. He has been atrocious and reckless ever since the COVID pandemic began.

Hi guys, I just want to say my computer came back positive for covid test. That means that you are all infected, so please go to self isolation in order not to spread it all over the Internet.

Wow, that's a really stupid thing to do, from both a PR and a general wellness point of view. This is a disease that doesn't come with symptoms beforehand always. If it did, I'm sure Dimi would have told everyone he had the disease.

Not good for Novak. Hope he doesn't have it, but he's endangering himself and others.

Serbia is a dictatorship where there were no anti-covid measures for weeks because of the elections where the government wanted to cement their power. That is how a tennis tournament with thousands in the audience took place during epidemic.
But I don't understand why these players like Thiem Zverev, Dmitrovv Djokerr , were all hugging each other on the court. Shaking hands at net. All this is unnecessary risk.

That is probably how they got it. Not from the crowd sitting far away. Why aren't these guys maintaining distance on the court??

This is absurd. He's been in close contact with people who have tested positive but "has no symptoms" so doesn't need a test???? I actually saw this rumoured last night but assumed it was Fake News.

Novak doesn't seem to be well informed regarding this disease. If you are in contact with positive person, you need to get tested quickly even though you show no symptoms!!!!

Earlier super spreaders of this disease were asymptomatic. Asymptomatic virus carriers are dangerous spreaders, because they are mobile and capable to spread the disease far and beyond. That British guy who was asymptomatic carried the virus from Singapore to a ski resort in Europe and then to UK.

wait what dude?
why would one not shake hands if this is all just a flu and people in their age group risk to have it only asymptomatic?

you are now contradicting yourself.
go check what your prop book says, don't let your brain take over.

The atmosphere in Serbia feels like everything is back to normal, so they probably felt relaxed about it there.

Watch everything get cancelled now that was to be played later in the year with actual social distancing and no people in the arenas except players and a chair umpire with masks and gloves and sanitation crews. The UTR events were successful because they didn’t have jam packed arenas.

I hope it was worth it. Djokovic said he might not play US Open and now no one can this year. Just watch. He done got two of the most popular players sick. One who was voted hottest player on the ATP and had a huge following for tv ratings.

Internet opinions are printed in indelible ink. Don’t try to take back what you wrote.
The sad thing is that there are obviously others on this server who agree with wishing illness on a person like the poster beard in another thread...

I’d be more concerned for his mental health than physical. The whole world is raining down on him hard.
This was so stupid. We all knew this was going to happen the day they showed the number of people in the crowd and all the promo events. You send a very wrong message when you dont take a novel virus seriously. Some young healthy persons are not going to survive this. And you put on a big show like this??? It trickles down. For every one person who gets the virus the transmission rate is crazy high... if you don’t practice social distancing and congregate in any country. Serb/Croats are no more immune than anyone else.
Think of all the traveling Dimitrov did prior to arriving. This is a epidemiological nightmare.

People wishing that a player (idiot though he may be) gets a lethal disease so that their idol can retain records - keep it classy TTW !!!

Testing is necessary and important to prevent the spread of the disease. After knowing the test result, then you can do the next step: contact tracing (if the test result is positive). And then, do more testing to the people who are being traced.
good try @Tennease but this particular poster is known for having very "interesting" opinions on various topics

Fek, this is irresponsible from Novak. He should get tested, no question.

I get why he wanted to organize the event (and I enjoyed watching it) but when you take a risk, you face the consequences if something goes wrong, you don't dodge them.

He said he'll get tested in Serbia but I think he should have done it straight away in Croatia.

This, plus it doesn't go well with his leadership role in the ATP. He needs to lead with accountability.

This is just tip of the iceberg. They’ll be talking about this on regular news .. imagine the “tennis press” with nothing else to talk about.

Djokovic is about to get his you know what handed to him.
I mean.. this could unfortunately define his career. Poor guy. When you talk about Sharapova to anyone.. it’s always mentioned she was a cheat and she was once the highest paid female athlete ever.

Djokovic put everyone in harms way that was involved with Adria. And why? It was so obviously the wrong thing to do regardless of what Serbia’s restrictions were and weren’t. Think of the non-tennis folk who have this nasty virus because of Adria.

It was reckless and potentially deadly. Viruses that are novel don’t care if you’re in Serbia or San Diego. If you congregate and use no social distancing you’re playing with lives. like I said. The press is going to eat him alive. Look at all the anger just in our forum.

I worry about him having a breakdown. This will follow him his whole career. Unless he puts blame on Serbia’s health administrators. I guess that’s his way out.

The players bear some responsibility in this for not distancing on the court. Why the hell are all these players constantly hugging each other?

Certainly that is not what the Serbian medical experts advised when approving this tournament.
