Novak to Shock the World

Federev

G.O.A.T.
I hereby do predict - without being coerced or on any illegal drugs - the following modest (when you think about it) prediction.

Novak is going to win the CYGS this year.

With Rafa gone and having learnt his lesson in ‘21, Novak will win RG, then win Wimbledon (easiest), and then do a much better job resting up for the elusive final diamond in his ring:

CYGS.

This is the year. A grand finale before he finally starts to fade.

Bump this and laud me with songs of joyous celebration and astounded admiration in September.

I will say to Novak fans “you’re welcome little buddies, I told you he wasn’t done.” And to the Fedal fans I love “I tried to warn you but you wouldn’t listen”.

And I will say to Srdjan, “it still doesn’t mean you’re cool.”

Nah, that ship sailed I think. Alcaraz is good enough to beat him at least at RG. And there’s going to be multiple threats at the USO this time around, not to mention in form Medvedev.

But I still think he’s going into Wimbledon as the considerable favorite again. We’ll see what ends up happening but not sure who can tango with him on grass right now.

I am ashamed to admit that I am a doubter. I would love to be wrong though...

lol. These threads to salve the abysmal ousting by Rune and a poor showing after AO. Gotta keep some hope in the heart when all looks lost.

I'd rather he just ends the slam race now, breaks the tie with Nadal and pulls ahead once and for all.

CYGS is just way too far away to think about. Just break the tie and end this race by being the last man standing.

I don't see him winning RG. He's looked poor the last few matches of his I've watched on clay. Maybe the elbow or maybe not but I just don't think he has it in him to win RG against fairly decent competition this year. Wimbledon is a no-brainer. He's winning that unless someone removes his arms and both legs and even then I still put his chances at 50/50. US open is always a crapshoot each year so always on the table.

I can’t see him winning the US Open but people are realllyyyyy overreacting to one loss in Bo3 on clay atm. I think he is the favourite for RG. In Bo5 he hasn’t lost to someone other than Nadal since 2019 and even then that loss was in his least favourite windy conditions. I don’t back Rune to have the physical and mental endurance to beat him yet in 5 sets - and think he’ll lose to someone else anyway - and I still reserve judgment on Alcaraz against the big 3 based on the little I’ve seen so far. No-one else is a threat to him if Rafa doesn’t play.

He can win 3 slams this year for sure.

I've had this hope every year since 2011 except 2017 and 2018. I think Novak has a small chance this year.
But so far his clay season sucked. Plus I wouldn't take WB for granted.
I'm thinking RG (25%), WB (50%), USO (25%) -> 3% for CYGS.

Damn I forgot how certain I was. I really wavered after seeing Alcaraz beat Tsitispas, and tbh it was certainly anyone’s match today before Alcaraz got cramp, which no-one predicted. So I don’t regret it

But Djoker is so inevitable. Ridiculous every time.

That's all cool, but even if this happens which is now a real possibility Novak won't just fade away in 2024 just like that...i mean capturing CYGS is a huge accomplishment no doubt, but i highly doubt that he'll shy away from an opportunity at making #9 and 6 in a row at Wimbledon next year, not to mention that he still wants that olympic gold...he wil lgo Wimbledon-Olympics back-to-back and maybe THEN he'll relax on the achievements front and finally let other guys have their piece of cake! Until then i can't see him stop winning CYGS this year or not...
...There will still be plenty of things to achieve even beyond this year after capturing CYGS! Trying to tie Margaret Court's all-time singles title intergender record at the AO next year, trying to finally win record breaking IW-Miami titles at respective event surpassing Federer and Agassi title haul, which Novak yet shares with them there after all these years, trying to get yet another Career Grand Slam at RG next year and become only 2nd player in history of the sport with 4 career slams leveling with Graf on that and all whilst defending grand slam title at least once on every surface, 9th Wimbledon title a new all-time record set for men and tied with Navratilova for intergender one and 6th in a row, which is a new open era record for men and a repeat of open era record for both genders (again tying with Navratilova, who also won 6 Wimbledons in a row in 80's...), Olympic gold to complete the collection of 15 most note-able tennis events and capture Career Super Slam becoming only 2nd man after Agassi with that designation and that's not even everything i'm sure i miss a thing or two...maybe aim at open era Connors title record, try to win every masters at least 3 times by adding another MC and Cinci title etc...things like that! There are plenty of stuff to be motivated for even after winning CYGS...
