Novak's current serve toss is ideal

Years ago, Djoker had this very high toss with a contact point behind his head. Then, when he came back from the elbow issue, the toss was shorter, but it was away from him and he tried to come around the ball and missed a lot in the net.

This year, the toss is short and contact point is always over his right ear, which is most conducive to hitting all parts of the serve box with any variety of spin.

Obviously, this change requires a quickened up serve action, but to his credit, Djoker is doing that as well!

Maybe this thread should be titled: Goran is the ultimate serve doctor?

Could you show videos for the old and new tosses for the readers?

I believe that Goran was one of the powerful servers that used a minimal height toss.

Well, the current toss is what's on display at the USO. The others aren't to be copied.

As a Nole fan I would like to agree with you, but objectively I don’t think I can say that yet. I hope he gets there though. His 1 1/2 serve has had interesting results.
He's not as wide on his split compared to classic servers, but he gets up on his toes well, and I love how the lower toss just generally speeds up the delivery.

Again, the whole point of serving modern times is to get the ideal 1st ball.

Nice analysis and very true with regards to your last paragraph.
