Novak's medial meniscus tear and instant recovery?

Anyone have experience with this injury?
I thought meniscus tear is a huge deal.
Novak got surgery and was playing ATP level tennis a few weeks later?
Is this injury really that trivial?

What does average adult need to know about this sort of injury?
Get surgery ASAP like Novak? Not worth dealing with chronic mild daily discomfort?

Had a repair done last year, walked out of the hospital the same day. It really only took a couple of weeks to feel pain free.

An average adult should know to do a bit of research before spouting nonsense and making a fool of themselves.

My 70 year old dad had a meniscus tear, back at the gym 3 weeks later! Its a minor injury and very minor clean up surgery. There is no heroic recovery process and no need to wear knee braces afterwards either. Less serious of an injury than a badly twisted ankle

I tore my abdomen the other day and was still able to lift a trophy and air a tv documentary about it.
I was there at the event and took some pics:

Our Djoker is not an ordinary human. He is a super-athlete who rehabbed 8 hours a day.
You cannot recover as quickly as him!

Modern medicine can do wonders.
I doubt modern health insurance would approve (aka pay for) surgery for such a minor tear - off to PT you go.

I know many guys who have had meniscus surgery but it's always been for a pretty severe problem.

Millions of dollars and the best "medicine" money can design has created some serious GMO hybrids, eh?

Depends where you live. In Norway and Switzerland for sure.

But were you able to do a full split on the tennis court with a meniscal tear?

The recovery time isn't the most suspicious part of the story, it's how he was performing while it was supposedly torn.

Danny, why don't you defend yourself?

I had it , for a month I was slow as a snail. Chose not to go for surgery, from then my speed is probably 70% on that leg. Slight instability when I go uphill, occasional light pain when I jump from heights above one meter with the stiffness in the knee in the next day or two.

How do they decide whether to repair or remove?

What nonsense did I spout?

What did they do? Remove it? What about arthritis?

Mine was painful before surgery as the tear would 'catch' on the collateral ligament when my knee was bent. I'm pretty sure they don't remove your meniscus, just try and tidy up the damaged area. Recovery was surprising quick and was totally different to a previous surgery I had to repair the other knee many years ago, when I was required to stay in bed for a week and not allowed to put any weight on it when I left the hospital [same operation]

No, they only did shaving of the torn part of the meniscus. The usual recovery time is 4-6 weeks for a "regular patient". Novak of course had a more intense physical therapy, his muscle tone is above average ecc.

If they repaired his meniscus (stitching) than the return to the court is in 4-6 months and the success rate is around 80% max. No professional athlete does that because it lasts too long.

In the end, all the pro's will most probably get arthritis because intense sport activity (every day for 30 years cca) is not healthy for the joints.

What kind of meniscus tear allows you to do a complete split on the court in the middle of a point?

Djokovic is the high priest Imhotep powered by Pyramids of Bosnia, he is not the average TTWer, is that a convincing answer ?

Please do not joke about the P-word, I responded to a post about the P-word in another thread and was banned from the entire thread. Djoko fans run this board with an iron fist now.
