Novak's shocking second serve stats against Sinner

Novak won just 5 second serve points out of 30 on serve, which is 17%.
In the second set, he won ZERO second serve out of 7.
I am not sure if that has ever happened to him, 0% second serve won.
I think if he had gone for 2 first serves, he would have won more points especially when he knew his movement was gone.

We can blame injury all we like but the issue is his last 5 matches have been similar. His 2nd serve stats have been poor and also he has hardly had BPs against Sinner so it can't all be due to injury.

Sinner has supreme DTL shots on both wings. Djokovic has always been very vulnerable to DTL shots, Nadal employed that tactic in slams v Djokovic alot. Wawrinka when on also could be devastating with DTL shots which not many players are..Murray for example had no FHDTL really.

Novak today was tactically inept from the start. One dimensional and I could not understand why he wasn't hitting drop shots and using more spin on his FH to get more angles to pull Sinner off court. Also he hardly uses the slice despite Dimitrov showing up how Sinner struggles with slice balls to his FH.

That's 3 slams on 3 surfaces he has been destroyed by Sinner and its bemusing why he hasn't been more tactically flexible.

The separation between Djokovic and Sinner is 14 years, more than twice that of Federer and Djokovic, which all Fedfans blame on age difference!

I was going to post this. He couldn’t win a rally and had no where to go.

He actually served really really well, hit a lot of spots, had good pace and served a high percentage. If it were not for that, he would’ve lost with a very embarrassing score line. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him hit that Serve up the T on the AD side as well,as he did. That serve was hugging the line all match.

Yes, shocking stuff. You need to be able to run if you want to defend your second serve.
Eh, not this. Look at the full stretch forehand in the rally that begins at two minutes and 10 seconds. You’re not doing that with any groin strain. Then there’s the great cross court running forehand that Djokovic hit later which I’ll find the timestamp for.

Edit: one at 7:42

Has been support the whole year that’s probably just a function of all the wear and tear and age not any specific injury.

Sinner has 3 slams. When Fed lost those close matches to Djokovic, Djokovic had double digit and around 15 majors

You are insulting Djokovic by comparing him to grass virgin Sinner
