Why would this change his opinion on vaccination? He's going to easily gain immunity on his own. In fact, he's already immune, and there's evidently nothing to recover from.

even better to do a harakiri to please the TTW community.

but hey, how are the 2 things connected?
why stepping down from this function and not something else? like a promise to never surpass Nadal and Fed in GS titles / big titles / weeks at #1?

I respect the Djokovic fans who aren't trying to defend this. Or crying about "haters" wanting blood.

There is a difference between being a fan and fanaticism. I'm a Nadal fan, but if he was responsible for even half the crap Djokovic pulled, I'd be calling for Nadal's head. This is bigger than Tennis.

In all likelihood not the bombshell it appears. 99% he never develops symptoms, recovers well in advance of the USO and the tour goes on as scheduled, albeit with Novak needing to live down this humiliating tournament.

Ye, I must say I agree the statement is very weak sauce, bit sad to see.

Bunch of people warned them precisely what would happen.

They went through with anyways, no foks given.

The warnings predictably came true.

«but see, my heart was totally in the right place here.»

Bro. This event could cause chains of infection that at worst could lead several people to die. It's not a joke.
If that would have been the first take away he wouldn't have organised it like this in the first place.

Lot of people seem to have that cognitive dissonance sadly.

Yeah, the coronavirus is usually active for 2 weeks in mild cases so he will probably have plenty of time to recover for the US open.

Yeah reads more as "woe is me" than an actually apology or acknowledgement of his error. I imagine he's going to get even more slammed for this and rightly so.

what a strange virus that one guy dies instantly and another has zero symptoms lmao
Yes, very different responses possible.

but Symptoms can take over a week to show, so Novak and others are not necessarily supposed to present at this point

Basically every disease is like that apart from the ones that are ALWAYS deadly
Not even close to the extent of covid. I thought that a supposed deadly disease wouldn't have 95% of people who got infected have zero symptoms. yeah so deadly

Hopefully he’ll donate plasma when he’s recovered. The guy lives such a healthy, holistic lifestyle with food and drink.
His antibodies are going to be premium.

Glad the kids are negative.

Djokovic was evidently naive, no doubt he had good intentions but I think the impact of this on his image will be felt for a long time.
People who refuse medical treatment for their kids over religious beliefs also have good intentions.

Scientists tell the truth, FFS!

That statement was not good. Even if he wasn’t sorry, he could have at least faked it a bit? I think some people on the board know I’m a Novak fan but honestly, his actions over the past few months have been ridiculous. It’s hard to a do a 180 on a player you’ve enjoyed watching but he’s deservedly being raked over the coals for this.

Now Djokovic's body will produce antibodies which will provide him with a lifetime of protection, and he'll never have to worry about this again.

http://www.hydnews.net/after-recovery-long-term-covid-effects-remain-in-the-body-causes-reversal/

"The body cannot recover from that level of damage overnight, and it must heal itself. “Unfortunately, particularly in the lung, this healing process can lead to irreversible scarring (fibrosis) that can greatly impact lung function long term,” Gates said. This loss of lung capacity could involve anything from shortness of breath to a long-term need for oxygen. "

Can prove to be incredibly damaging for an athlete, hope everyone recovers to full health:notworthy:

So you're telling me the USO and RG are definitely happening?
I said back in March that we won't see any tennis this year and I'm sticking with in.

The Djokovic got covid news just went viral. I can only imagine the global outrage for the USO/FO if they decide to organize their events regardless of what just happened.

It's just depressing to see this stupidity around.

When my kid was young I read this article from a parent whose child got chickenpox and nearly died. She had some complications up to a year after recovery. Scared the bejeezus out of me.

When my kid finally got it she barely even itched and never felt unwell.

it's not granted for this thing.
P Dibala tested positive after allegedly going healthy.

and it is not known yet whether Djokovic will take any damage to his body or not, lungs for example.
too early to celebrate.

Novaxx Djokovid was just trying to set Serbia and Croatia on the path to herd immunity; nothing wrong with that!

Don't know if you are a Djokovic fan or not. Just stating that I respect fans who are not behaving like fanatics. Most sensible people feel Djokovic's actions deserve condemnation and some form of punishment.
if it is true that the new election of the President of Player's Council will be held soon, like in a month or in a few months, than this is not the punishment.

Respect. Not all fans can be this honest.

More bad news from Adria......

Have there been announcements from Krajinovic, Danilovic and Zverev about their status?

Really feeling for younger players like Olga Danilovic whose interrupted and difficult season has now been further complicated just when it was looking like competition was a possibility in 2-3 months.
