NRTP Ratings during USTA matches

I wish every USTA match would count towards USTA ratings (Adult leagues, Mixed, Combo, etc.). I'm sure the algorithm can figure it out, not to mention different sections use different criteria. It would also not allow folks to take advantage of the system, which I know happens.

Bottom line for me, if you're gonna play in a USTA match, it should count toward your rating!

Mixed doubles shouldn't count. It's ridiculous.

I’ve heard the counter argument that including mixed ratings would enable cheaters who might tank mixed matches to manage ratings.

I think that’a silly, and excluding half the data makes ratings less accurate, creating a bigger problem than it solves.

If the usta is really worried about the cheating angle, they can weight the higher rated matches more, and drop more of the stinker matches. Problem solved.

Combo shouldn't count either. I can't believe I am saying this but USTA is doing it right. That is probably the only thing though.

It would definitely be used to tank more.

Each season should generate a rating and your rating should be whichever is your highest rating. Of course there are people who would tank everything to get their rating back down. But there isn't much you can do against that level of commitment to cheating.

That is a good idea... Which means it will never happen.
A related idea... Have only the best 50-75% (can play around with this percentage) of matches count (ie throw out the worst ones). I think golf does something along these lines.

I think this is a good way.

There are also plenty of non-intentional sandbaggers who play once per week during the season, then ramp up to 3-4x per week during playoffs and suddenly jump an ntrp level as a result.

I’m one of those, but it never feels quite fair.

I was thinking more of take off the top 25% and bottom 25% and only use the middle 50% to come up with someone rating. Or use their median rating.

Some leagues stopped counting literally because people were using it to sandbag. So we have evidence of your statement being completely opposite of what actually happens.

USTA should make it so mixed is no longer ridiculous.

USTA could easily fix that by putting men and women in the same rating system and allowing coed games.

Edit: Why does USTA ruin their rating system for all player in the country? To preserve a national system that leads to matches like this:
