I have played with all of the prostaff in the family. Namely the

- Pro Staff 6.1 Classic
- Hyper Pro Staff 6.1
- Nsix-one 95
- Ksix-one 95

(Note that I used the 18x20 string pattern in all of the above models)

I recently got the Head Microgel Prestige Pro - but am tempted to switch back to the Nsix-one that I liked so much at the time of using.

PS 6.1 Classic - Hefty frame, incredibly stiff, major power, very harsh

HPS 6.1 - Very stiff, less power than the Classic, not very good manouverability

N6.1 - Perfect stiffness (not too stiff, but not a wet noodle), excellent manourerability, terrific spin, ample power.

K6.1 - Most powerful of the lot, too hefty, very stiff again.

I think Wilson got the mix just right with the N6.1 95. It had all the trademarks of the Pro Staff range but without the harshness, stiffness and below average manoureverability of the other sticks in the range?

Anyone agree??

My N6195 is the best frame I have ever hit with. I have 3 of them.
Recently bought MG Prestige Pro Midplus and it is quite good. Dont know if it will become my favorite yet but it is impressive all around; serve, ground, volley, OH.

Classic 6.1 was very harsh for sure.

I played with the HPS, nCode 95 and the KFactor 95, all 18x20, and yes the nCode was the best one because it was softer than the KFactor. The HPS was terrible.

I played with the n6.1 95 16x18 and 18x20 back when and have hit with the K6.1 95 16x18; I prefer the feel and power of the K Factor series. I use the K6.1X.

I would definitely agree with you, but I have only played with the N95 and K95's. I have 2 N95's and that stick improved my 1HBH like no other. The K95 feels totally different to me, too heavy and stiff like others have mentioned. The N95 was a sweet stick that appealed to a huge range of players.

I use the k now but used to have the n (both 16 X 19) and found the k to be a little more stable so I like it better.
It also seems the k responds better off the top of the string bed where I tend to make contact.
I would say that the k model is slightly stiffer and lighter feeling (I added lead tape to the throat) than the n.
The k model is definitely light years uglier than the n but what can you do?

I've played the HPS and the nCode and prefer the HPS strung at lower tension...for me, more control, feel, and stability than the nCode...and it looks better!

i'm 36yo.. played with the PSC for 10 years, great stick... but stopped using it to try new/modern sticks, for a few years i tried everything under the sun... look at my signature... :) Now have 4 n6.1's, nice balance, weight and stiffness. i just could not find a racquet that has the feeling i get with a Pro Staff!

Try adding the lighter asian K95 or n95 (310g) into the mix and you'll really be confused!

Try them out if you have the chance and let us know! :)

The classic is my personal favorite, but the n95 is just as good. when ppl ask what to get; a k95 or a n95 I always tell them to get the ncode. great sticks :)

after trying my friend's classic 6.1 i did not want to give it back. not as much power as my modded pog but the balance and maneuverability was excellent. great control as well. I also prefer the classic 6.1 over the n95 and k95. it did feel stiff, as some have mentioned, but that wasn't an issue for me.

i wonder how the hyper prostaff 6.1 MP plays compared to the classic 6.1. will it be an easy transition and is it just as solid? looking to find a classic 6.1 alternative other than the n6.1 and k95.

maybe i should just do my own research. :T

The only problem with the N6.1 is that it is out of production. But I still see more N6.1's than K6.1's in the hands of higher level players. Wilson made a mistake with not continuing this frame.

I see some negative reviews up above re the HPS, and one or two highlight poor manouverability. Well, all I can say is the Eu model HPS I once tried had EXCELLENT manouverability. It was pretty head-light, I seem to recall, and was notable as being one of those frames that you could get the ball back with all day long - low scoopers, high up around the shoulder, last-second wrist flicks, etc - basically, with this rod rallies seemed to last a good few shots longer. Yes, it was relatively stiff. However, aside from finding it a tad low powered as re serving, I recall this racket as being very nice indeed... incidentally, the Eu version has crazy topspin capacity too.

And re the PSC 6.1... IMO it's one of the very greatest frames EVER!

I agree with you, the N6195 has a great balance and is a really nice racquet (I play 18x20 string patterns too).

For what it's worth I tried a Vantage and used the N6195 spec and that is even better. It's hard to describe the difference, the best way I can put it is that the Wilson feels a bit woolly and disconnected in comparison (and that's not trying to put the Wilson down, it's what I would buy if I couldn't get my Vantages - after I'd stopped crying, that is). I suspect it's the thinner beam and slightly different head shape. The Vantage has a wonderful solidity and stability without being stiffer.

I'm amazed when anyone says they've gone from a Wilson to a Head or vice versa; those grip shapes are worlds apart and I still get palpitations when I remember by foray into the world of Head grip shapes!!

I use the n6.1, and I agree it should have never been discontinued. I have the 16x18 pattern, and although I have a flat shot, I like the benefits of an open pattern. Control doesn't seem to be a problem, and I love the plow through, the feel and stiffness of the racquet. The response. I've heard the k6.1 isn't the same, it's just that much heavier and stiffer and I wish they wouldn't have discontinued it. I have 3 of these babies, and their great sticks, really.
