nSixOne maximum tension question

For the previous ps 6.1, the tension range was always 55-65. (I usually strung it at 62).

Now, the tension range is 50-60. Is it safe to string it at 62? Or is it different mechanics because of the "stiffer" material so 62 would be completely different?

How confusing they made it..

Thanks!

I've been stringing mine at 62 pounds. I'ved had no problems over the past year.

At the pro shop where I string at, I've had customers request tensions up to 68 pounds on there nsix-one.

I string my n6.1 95s at 73 (poly 15 guage) and its fine. Ive heard they can stand 80 but I havent strung mine that tight.

My understanding is that Wilson made a "corporate" decision to spec all their 95" frames at 50-60 lbs. This was done towards the end of the production life of the HPS 6.1 (the red one) -- one of my friends bought his first one and its spec was 55-65; the second one was labeled 50-60.

BTW, he strung his first one at 65 bec the first HPS 6.1 he ever tried was strung at that tension and he loved the feel. For some reason, he decided to string his second one at its recommended max of 60 -- he hated it and went back to 65, wasting a set of TF X-One Biphase 17.

I strung this season at 68 w/o any problems. It didn't even deform during stringing on my two point system.

lolz 2 point mount 68 lbs that's crazy well i believe i read somewhere that jennifer capriati strings at around 70+lbs but her frames break only after a couple of stringings, maybe i'm thinking of somebody else, who knows

ryanstennis, I did just suddenly change tensions. I strung with different hybrids of OG Micro, PSG, and Tournament Nylon at 68, then I tryed some other strings and dropped my tension into the normal range. I settled on I-S at 56 and it is working really well. I think the high tensions may have contributed to my severe case of tennis elbow this season.

Okay. If you read the lebal, you should see something like "RECOMMENDED tension range: ## to ## lbs." In fact, I do sometime have my string higher than 60lbs on my nSix-One Tour 90's.

I strung my n6.1 95s at 58 59lbs. Wouldn't goes below 58 even I have TE problem. Wondered how it feel strung at 62 or 63 lbs?

You and Penang should watch out. My feeling is you're using the wrong racket for your arm.

I never used nSixOne, however I used and still have an HPS 6.1, which is very probably in the same lineage of materials and stiffnesses. That racket kills my elbow each time I am trying to play with it (strung at 65). My stringer told me HPS 6.1 is one of the Wilson rackets which are bad for the arm. It might be the same with nSixOne, I saw several reports of TE with. I'd change rackets forthwith:-). You might think of Head, they seem to be healthier for the arm.

BTW, I am playing with a 6.0 85 strung at 68 and have no problems. They only start at about 72:-)

I realized I didn't need to string so high. I am using a softer string at lower tension, both of which should help my elbow. Also, I love the nSix-One for playability, not to mention I just bought 4 of them in under a year. I am done with changing rackets. I am starting college tennis this fall and have determined to play with the nSix-One for all four years. I cannot be messing with changing rackets at this time.

I love HPS 6.1 for playability too, but ...
Also, health issues can't be scheduled. They just happen.
Hope won't happen to you.

Higher tensions in the 6.1 95 aren't bad because of the 16X18 pattern (less string=less stress). However, it voids the warranty. It also accelerates the rate at which the frame breaks down. Tighter strings break more frequently. The more times the frame is stressed, unstressed, stressed, etc. the quicker it will lose its resiliency.

say it isn't so

uh, this may be a dumb question but does anyone around here realize that different sized heads matter when deciding string tension? And string density matters as well.

For example, 55lbs on Federer's racquet will feel and behave much differently on the nSixOne95. Especially if it was the nSixOne95 18x20.

Marius,
Besides n61 95, I still have LM Radical with me. Only use when my arm got weak when playing with n61. I hate to switch between this two racquet bcos of different weight on both racquet. Do you think LM Radical a better one for someone with TE? Maybe with n61 I should've go back to NXT Tour string instead of playing with Klip K Boom now.
