O3 White string recommendations

I'll be getting my racquets restrung in the next day or three, and since I'm in the middle of rebuilding my forehand with my instructor, I thought I'd ask for suggestions on a string to use.

I'm a progressing high-3.0 player who likes to play most of hte court, particularly with a decent amount of serve-and-volleying. I hit a 1hbh and am moving to a topspin ww semi-western forehand (from a classic eastern which I was never comfortable with). Since my new forehand feels like it carves at the ball much more (I love that feel), I thought I'd pay more attention to what strings I'm doing that with now.

Racquet-wise, I'm using an O3 white (not the newer speedport) strung with a (IIRC) 16ga prince synthetic (Lightning XX maybe?) at around 60lb. I have yet to break one of these strings, though perhaps with the change in forehand mechanics that'll change. I was thinking about trying out one of the newer high-end multifilaments like X-one biphase or one of the Prince Premier strings, but thought I'd see if anyone had any particular suggestions.

Signum Pro Poly Plasma 16 (orange). Best string I ever tried in my O3 White racquets, and I had experimented with SO many strings. It took me about a year and a half to finally decide on on, the the SPPP is the best. To me it was, anyway.

I just saw the end of your post now. I liked the Lightning XX in the White but it broke within about 4 hours for me.
Since you aren't a string breaker, I understand your feeling towards poly.
and the x-one...I had it at 62 in my O3 last year and it was an absolute trampoline.
just saying ;) haha.

MarrratSafin, have you given the Dunlop 4D 300 a test drive yet?

Oh and sorry to the OP for the random post; Marrrat is a fellow O3 White user that has helped me a lot with my O3 "issues" haha. :)

Haha no, I live in New Zealand and tennis stuff is always lagging behind here. The 4D's are not here yet all we got is still Aerogel. The Aerogel 200 is a great stick though!:)

I have used the whites for a few years now and have found they play best with poly.

My number 1 set up is full blue gear at 57lbs now. I used to string at 67lbs but have been coming down a couple of pounds each time I restring. At 57lbs it is perfect.

2nd best set up is full cyberflash.

Only multi I like in it in head FXP, great string often overlooked.

I agree with you! O3 White plays best with polys, plus I need the durability. Synthetic and Multis break under 5 hours. I've had many different polys in it and they're all better than Lightning XX, Duraflex etc. And SPPP is the best so far. However I suggested Rip Control as it's a lower powered alternative to polys.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'm going to start with a multi in one of the racquets and see how that feels on the ball machine for a couple of extended sessions. If that breaks too quickly, then I'll keep in mind the SPPP for a hybrid setup.

^^^+1. Good luck, PatrickB, and let us know how it goes.

Okay, I started with a full bed of X1 biphase. If it breaks too quickly, I'll probably hybrid it with SPPP in the mains, but right now I'm loving it. Nice feel, crisp with good power and spin. Forehand's much improved with better depth and good spin, and my serve seems to have a bit more pop to it as well. How much of that is fresh string, how much is better string, and how much is just improving my forehand mechanics since I've been hitting the ball machine is hard to tell, but I'm pretty happy so far.

Gamma Professional is worth a try, I put the 18G version in my O3 White and works very well at 58#M and 56#C. I've compared it to NXT, NXT Tour, and VS gut. I like it the same as VS, and better than the others.
