Observations on Universal Tennis Ratings

The funny thing is that I was actually playing a lot of mixed during that same stretch (which UTR ignores) and playing a bit better mixed doubles than in the past and watching my mixed TR.com rating climb from mid 4.5 to the edge of 5.0. I think USTA also ignores mixed, so i think there is no risk of me getting bumped anytime soon even if I continue to improve my mixed play. Anybody know how long it takes to get a mixed exclusive rating?
Your C from Adult has to expire, typically 3 years.

You guys are correct, utr is not accurate when comparing juniors vs adults and even girls vs boys juniors theres a slight difference.

But the thing is, its impossible to make it accurate, juniors just play against juniors, girls just play against girls, adults just play against adults, more or less.

So it can only be somewhat accurate, the only way it was more accurate is if these 3 all played against each other often.

Well, needs to play 3 in a year to get a new C.
Does that mean if I were to play 2 or fewer non mixed matches per year, that my usta rating would switch over to mixed exclusive 3 years after the last year that I played at least 3 non mixed matches?

That's not what we are talking about.

No, I agree. My post was addressing the occasional comment that teens should win against adult league players because the adults tend to be older and well past their physical primes. Depending on what you are thinking about when you say "teen", a lot of players haven't hit theirs yet. I have the most skepticism about UTR when it's more about "youth" ratings: what would happen when 10-14 year olds play against adults. Those kids may not have the aches and pains but they aren't really at their athletic peak yet either. With the occasional freak-of-nature exception of course. And most of them have a lot less experience than solid (4.0+) league players.
