Occurrences that would make you quit the tennis fandom

King No1e

G.O.A.T.
I'm talking weak playing fields, rule changes, etc. Here's a few of mine.

- Zverev beating Djokovic at this RG
- Making all Slam matches best of 3
- Isner/Karlovic type players occupying the top spots
- A big 4 member getting caught for cheating/drug use (I mean Lance Armstrong level cheating, not forgetting a blood test like Troicki)
- Too many #1 players who haven't won a Slam

A lot of this is why I lost interest in WTA tennis (although I still follow the Williams sisters). We've been extremely lucky to be fans in the era of Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic in the ATP, but the twilight is upon us and the future is uncertain.
What are yours?
(Please try to think of something unrelated to Zverev)

Honestly? The worst that could happen is 20 yrs from now, a scandal rrgardig Fed or Nadal will surface how they were cheats on the court, or are in reality utter evil miserable people off the court.

That would not just be childhood ruined for me, thats basically adulthood ruined.

That is the scariest thing IMO.

-"Zverev beating Djokovic at RG" isn't that Zverev related ;)

your latter two points i would lose interest in tennis if either became true. I have no respect at all for professional cycling because it's a drug fuelled sport, the latest Grand Tour being won by someone who tested positive six months ago. I would view tennis the same way if there were found to be a massive drugs problem (which may be the case.)

You’ve got a point with the servebot guys.
Gotta admit I hate watching Raonic, Isner, Anderson, Karlovic etc and seeing Isner win Miami was just cringeworthy. I usually tune out unless I like the opponent.
Sure they do have other elements to their game but when you’re hitting 10+ aces in a match I’m getting super bored watching.

Sorry but nothing that isn’t related to Zverev could make me stop loving the sport.

Zverev winning a slam would make me disinterested but I would still love tennis, Zverev winning more slams than far more talented players like Safin and Mury GOAT would probably be the final nail in the coffin..

You gotta use your strengths to your advantage. I don't think Isner cares about how boring his game is, when is bombing those aces..!!!

Slams becoming Bo3 would probably do it. Lance Armstrong - only if it was a certain player, if it was others in that group it might have the opposite effect.

I don't have anything against strong servers, there I said it.

If Federer retires and Shapo or some other interesting young player doesn't pan out, I'll probably fade away anyway.

I think I've always loved playing tennis more than watching tennis . . . so I guess my answer would be "nothing."

When I get a little bored watching (as I have these past few years) it doesn't change my fundamental love of the game.

Exactly. I am all about playing. Watching for me is only a technical exercise to understand the fundamentals. It doesn't matter who it is as long as it is a pro.

I can’t believe the answers above me (except for @EloQuent 1 point). Sad, even for TW.

Major rules changes: BO3 at majors; no let serves, and the ludicrous Fast 4. If they cave to TV oligarchs I an out!

The question wasn’t what do the players think but more what do we think..

But isn't that why they slowed the courts down in the first place? everyone was complaining about how boring the game was with these quick points.!

I think having 30-40 point rallies is super boring...that's what has made players so one dimensional and thus cannot adapt to different surfaces and conditions as they lack variety. Thus the men's game has lost the top 10 consistency which is had over the past 10-15 years.

Watching Shapo and Kurious continue to do nothing anywhere yet receive the TTW stamp of approval.

Love tennis. I ain't going nowhere.

I wonder what it would do to tennis if a big star was caught doping. And not just "oh I didn't know meldonium is not allowed" or recreational, but a major program of cheating like Armstrong.

Would they strip the titles?

Caught by the press or government, I mean.

After Federer retires I will continue to follow the tennis.I already have few tennis players who I like and can support in the future but this will happen once Fed is not active tennis player anymore

Finding out he is a pedophile, rapist and/or a woman would make me lose interest for a particular player.

I think many of them dopes anyway.
Finding out a player is actually a woman would you lose interest in them? Did I read that right? o_O:D Lol.

Most of them probably are dopers, Sir Mury is the only player I’m absolutely certain would never dope.

Zverev domination instead of shaps

He just turned 19 less than two months ago. I find it curious that a Zverev fan would put markers like that, that you have to reach x by a curtain age.

I didn't Z haters did, that's the point. The same people ranting for ages about Z not doing anything big, and on board with Shapo, despite never making a master's final or Slam QF, or breaking the top 10.

Zverev just turned 21, and people have been complaining about his progress, and how he hasn't proven himself, for over a year now. So around the time he turned 20.

So I expect TTW to lose faith in Shapo if he doesn't at least match Zverevs achievements at the same age.

Well the mismatch in masters/slams was pretty obvious. I guess we'll see how Shapo develops. He made R4 in USO 2017, and two SFs in maters. For his age he's impressive.

lol in a decade all the salty Zverev and Shapo haters are gonna sound exactly like the Borg/Agassi/Sampras deadenders do now

players retire and new players start winning, it's gonna happen
