Official Babolat Strike VS 2022 thread

Have hit it a few more times since my last report and still really enjoying it. I decided to mess with some weight yesterday and added 1.5g each at 10, 12 and 2. While it felt great before, I feel like the addition of the weight only increased stability/my net play, and opened up that next gear on my ground strokes when I wanted them.

what would you give this stick out of 10 ??? overall

Really have it tuned in now. I’ve got 1.5g each at 10, 12, and 2. Strung with vs touch mains (52) and rpm rough cross (48). I’ll be buying a handful when they come out.

Hey All, I just got my hands on the brand new Pure Strike VS. Feel free to ask me anything. I love how thin the neck of the frame feels, not bulky like other frames. It's a great stick, similar to Pure Aero VS with more feel and a tad more weight, plus the leather grip is pretty awesome. Cheers!

What other rackets do you use ? On what strings ? And your playing type, fast swing, hard hitter, ball shaper, all courter ? What is that the VS help you the most ? Thanks.

So I've only hit the Pure Strike VS one time, so I'm not exactly dialed in yet :), but I'll do my best to answer. I currently play the Pure Aero VS stock. I'm a baseliner, counter-puncher, that likes to run down a lot of balls. I don't play with much power, but more spin, especially off my western grip forehand. My backhand is probably my stronger, most reliable side. I have a decent serve, but focus more on placement than power. From my first hit, I would say the Pure Strike VS feels similarly to the Pure Aero VS I currently play. It has more flex though, and feels like slightly less power because of it. It is 11.5oz strung, which is approx .2oz. heavier than my Aero VS, but with the leather grip, plays pretty head light and fast. I would approximate the swing weight around 320 on mine, but not too sure. I think this racquet will do well, but it really comes down to personal preference. In comparison to the Wilson Pro Staff 97 (310) and Yonex Vcore Pro (310), I'd say the Strike VS provides a nice balance to these other racquets with controllable power that you will mostly provide, while not being a noodle, in terms of flex.

i like the pure aero vs but i feel like it lacks stablity agaisnt big hitters
There are definite similar qualities with the Pure Aero VS. If you feel the Aero VS has some instability, you probably want to add weight to the aero, as well as to the new Strike VS. That said, I don't really have any issue with the Aero VS stock at 50 pounds will a full bed of poly, but I'm also not playing 6.0 and higher. I'm a 5.0 and those are usually the guys I play with. After reading some of the posts on here, I was expecting the Strike VS to have an extremely low swing weight, but that is not how it feels in my hands when swinging. It feels like 320-ish, but it is head light. I feel that it is a very nice balanced player spec that will definitely allow for customization. In comparison, I was recently swinging the brand new TF40 315, which is a nice foam filled stick, but feels like a feather in comparison to the Strike VS. The TF40 315 is 11.7oz with a 313 swing weight and 8 points head light. I feel the Pure Strike VS definitely has more plow. Just my thoughts.

Thanks! Can't wait to get it. I've been using the 2018 Strike VS and my only fear about this new version was swing weight, so this is very reassuring! I tried the TF40 315 and agree it was nice but felt so light.

TF40 315 16x19 that I recently tested was SW=318 and the TF40 305 16 was SW=315, both strung with TRIAX 1.33mm. It takes very little to get the swing weights to your preferences.

So the VS tech makes it feel super similar to the Pure Aero but with a different playstyle less spin based right?

usually presale 2 weeks prior. Worried about a delay due to supply chain issues.
I was told Feb 15 by a friend who used to be a Babolat rep. It was originally Jan 15 but pushed due to supply chain. Hoping they come soon, he’s going to want his demo back sooner or later.

Gents you are all we have so far, so here are my questions:

- Can you describe the feel - is it soft, classic, comfortable..etc? Basically does it feel like the old box beam Pure storm tours and/or Ltd?
- Power level compared to a control frame like Pro Tour 2.0..etc.
- Sweet spot size - small like Pure Storm Ltd or bigger?

I believe @Hankenstein hit it as well?

Yeah, tried it and did not like it at all unfortunately. I am too weak/bad player to use this type of frame. It is to demanding and i dont get any help at all.

I actually use the 2021 Pure Drive 107 heavy customized at the moment.
You know this and you are being humble but it's all a function of who you are hitting with. I am sure you are hitting with some very high level players. I notice I can use something like Vc95 to dictate and agress people at around my level but if someone much better is on the other side I think I would have much rather having something much much forgiving.

Hey, So it's hard to really describe, but I'll do my best. I would say that the racquet plays like a "modern version" of soft, maybe comfortably crisp, with a flex probably around 62-ish. It's not the 58 flex of the old Pure Storm Control Ltd. with an 18x20 pattern. I'd put it more in the box of the Pure Storm/Control 98, but maybe feels a slight bit crisper. It's a different feel from what I remember from those racquets. For example, I have heard others say that the measured flex comes in around 62, but maybe it plays closer to a 64 or so. That's why I mentioned comfortably crisp as a possible description, but string choice would make it play softer as well. Anyways, I actually really like the feel and the weight distribution. I also feel that it has decent pop as it's around 11.5oz. strung with a nice head light balance for a player spec. I find the sweet spot much bigger than the older 95 sq. in. limited frame, which is very welcome. , :) . The string density is perfect in my opinion, not too, too tight, but not too open like a Pure Aero. As far as the Pro Tour 2.0, I haven't hit it so I wouldn't be able to compare, but I know that racquet has had quite the following over the years. Hears to hoping the VS versions of the three great Babolat racquet families keep going strong. The new upgraded Pure Drive VS or Pure Drive 98, as I believe it will be called, is another great frame to look out for. Not that it matters, but I typically play the 2020 Pure Aero VS, at least up to now. Trying different racquets makes me want to switch too often. Haha. All the best!

does the headshape feel like an rf 97? is the headshape smaller towards the bottom? giving it that nice v shape on the throat?

I wish youtube had some kind of auto translate feature even if it's off translation I'm sure we could get some idea of what they are saying with these japanese reviews!

But it looks like there will be a tour version? According to their diagram thing they are using from the 45 second mark? Could just be referring to the previous gen VS tour, though.

I agree with you, the most recent Pure Strike Tour is slept on imo. Absolute axe of a racquet. Murders the ball. Not that difficult to play with either.
I murdered 10 people with PS 3rd gen last night and enjoyed doing it .

Ace after ace with added benefit of a loud crack when you hit the ball
Guilty guilty pleasure. I need psychiatric help

Too bad translation is useless ... they present things very very well.

Well,

since we are getting into showtime, late February 2022, here's what I run on the prior Gen (=> Pure Control mold grandkid) Pure Strike VS (295g)

Touch VS 16 mains
NXT 16 crosses
@ 26.5/24 kgf

It's pretty good so far, for how I like to shape the ball.

Is the spin comparable?
