Official Nike Lunar Ballistec Thread

LOL! I had a feeling this thread was going to blow up once Rafa stepped on court with his LB "fakes"!
Yeah. Was hoping for reviews of the actual product. There is some good sizing info - but all the 'Rafa isn't wearing them' has now taken over the thread.

While it's a valid pt to make (once, not 48 times), Nadal and most of the players are control freaks/superstitious so for him not to switch shouldn't be a gigantic shocker to anyone who wasn't born last night - or be extrapolated as a complete indictment of the product.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. Regarding the ventilation issue, would sticking a few pin holes manually help resolve the problem? Anybody tried this on this or any other shoe??

quick question, is there any consensus as to how the fit compares to the vapor 9/9.5 or the 4.3? i ask because i've read that they fit larger so one should order either a full size or half a size smaller yet TW on their review does not mention this and they actually say the fit is true to size. any insight would be greatly appreciated

I wear a 11.5 in the 4.3, also 11.5 in the Vapor 9.
11 fits me in the Lunar Ballistecs. The Lunar Ballistec fits on par with the Air Max Cage, but not QUITE as wide.

I found them to be very long. Tried my normal size and there was a good cm between my toe and the end of the shoe

Yikes, the overall durability of these are a bit concerning. I slide a lot, it puts lots of pressure on the side of my right shoe, but I have never torn up the side that quickly.

I don't drag my toes a lot, but my right shoes toe is about to have a hole lol. I believe this is what Chris said in his review.

6 month durability guarantee. You'll get a new pair......no worries.

Yeah, I took the bait and bought a pair of the LB's. I normally wear a 9.5 and had to go down a half size.

They are nice shoes. The ride is low (lower than what I'm used to anyway) and they have good cushioning. I played 4 hours this weekend and my knees weren't hurting. :)

All that said, I could have bought 2.5 pairs of Prince T22's for one pair of these. I don't see that much value in the Nikes.

I tried a pair of LBs on (my store has the new orange colorway along with the new orange Vapor 9.5 colorway) and I didn't think these were as low to the ground as some reported. They are however EXTREMELY comfortable. I didn't buy them because I wear a 14 and the 13 was just too tight. Unfortunately, no tennis retailer in Atlanta carries a 14 in premium shoes anymore so I'm going to have to order them.

So if I wear 44 1/2 should I order LB at 44?
I'm not so sure, cause 44 1/2 ( or 44 2/3 for Adidas ) is somehow exactly at my limit for Courtballistec 4.3 / Adidas Bercuda.

Orignally thought I'd try the white, but realized I am not a white shoe guy, so I bought the red ones. First play tonight, so it should be interesting. Initial comfort is better than the 4.3s. Guess it's just a matter of how they play and hold up. At this price, I hope I can warranty them.

Tried mine for the first time this evening. I normally wear a UK 9 (us 10) and I bought these in a 9 before I read all the down half a size etc. Could be half a size smaller but didnt bother me, very snug so its all good.

A lot more comfortable than the 4.3 but durability is questionable!

Just got mine from TW today. I have a match in the morning and I think I'll play in them because they look and feel great. I got the white pair by the way.

The "fly wires". Are they really easy to break? Seems like after a couple of months they will be the first things to break. Any feedback?

Gotta admit, I kinda like the ladies colorway too... I prefer the white/silver midsole over the grey one on the men's...

So far, they haven't been scratched yet. Only way IMO that they could be broken is via the Nadal vs. Nishikori fall that broke his laces lol.

They don't look bad, but I already have Atomic Orange 4.3 that he used in the Micky Mouse Tournaments of Winter 2013.

I would, though, buy a pair of Lunar if they have a generous casual color.

I wore mine two or three times and then gave them away. I bought another pair of Prince T22's.

IMO, they're OK, but there is nothing special about them.

If they were okay, and not hitting your foot, this seems odd given the cost of the shoes. Why not keep them and play them out?

Has anybody experienced blisters with these shoes? I saw one kid who's foot was bleeding from them.

I have not, but I've never experienced blisters with any of my tennis shoes. They are supremely comfortable to me. Part of this may be what I do to my shoes; I replace the stock insoles with aftermarket insoles. That usually helps for better fit.

Not The Best Performance Shoe

Not a huuuge fan, seem a tad overrated and only priced higher due to ,uh, Rafa?

Whatever Nike is doing, they're doing one heck of a job marketing towards the young kids who want everything "Rafa" due to the fact their are many shoes that perform better, but for what, about half the price???

although... i wouldn't mind a pair because they are hands down the best looking tennis shoes, but not the best PERFORMANCE shoe...

hope i didn't step on anybody's feet...:oops::razz:

For me tho, performance wise, I like them a lot better than the 4.3, and style wise they are the best looking tennis shoes ever! In fact I like them so much I bought 3, one of each color. Call me crazy or whatever you want, but performance wise, the only thing that can compete with them is the yonex sht-powercushion 309.

I agree with this. The 4.3s just didn't make me love them. The LBs are so much better in every area, primarily comfort. With that said, I still prefer to play serious matches in my Gel Resolution 5s as I feel they are sock-like. I play the LBs when practicing or playing a friendly match though so I get plenty of play with them.
