Official Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5 Thread

There probably shouldn't be a thread for this shoe since it's basically the same as the 9, but here it is. I'm a huge huge fan of the 9s (besides durability of course ;) ), so Nike not going with a 10 after 2 years of the 9 was disappointing.

If I like the LB's, don't think there's a chance that i'll try these this year- I'd rather wait for the 10s.

I know some users have the 9.5s already, so what are y'alls thoughts?

The Nike swoosh on the 9.5, is it just painted on? Because that's what it looks like on pictures.

Whereas the Vapor 9 had an actual thing for a swoosh.

Not feeling the 9.5s. It's like Nike put all the marketing and R&D on the Lunar Ballistecs and the 9.5 was an after thought.

I'm a huge fan of the Vapor 9 myself. I really love the design.

I have the Vapor 9.5, but I'm thinking about trading it for the Lunar Ballistec.

First I'll tell you my impression about the 9.5:

These shoes are _exactly_ the same as the Vapor 9, so if you love the 9, you'll love the 9.5 even more: They improved the upper and it looks like it's more durable than the Vapor 9, except for the mesh parts, which is still the same ofcourse. Aaaand, that's about it actually, since they are identical to the Vapor 9, except for a different upper, there is nothing much else to tell about the Vapor 9.5 except for the upper and the colors ..

Why I'm possibly switching to Lunar Ballistec?

I choose Vapor 9 mainly because of lightweightness, comfort, design looked classy, breathability and your feet lower to the ground. The Air Max Courtballistec was kinda the opposite: heavy, feet higher off the ground thanks to Air Max, design, etc. Of course the durability is supposed to be way better than the Vapor.

Now with the Lunar Ballistec, they have the same features as the Vapor 9(.5): Feet lower to the ground, lightweight, comfortable and I love the design (in white, not red).

What I don't know yet is: how much lower your feet are to the ground is the Lunartech compared to Zoom Air? This is an important factor, because I need to have some control on the ground with my feet, which I don't really have using Air Max.

I'm gonna find out soon enough though, since I ordered a pair of Lunar Ballistec.

Looks just like the current shoe but some minor cosmetic changes. The build is not as solid too, seems like.

I like the actual fingers on the 9's better. the 9.5's seem to be a whole piece on the sides rather than individual fingers. I'm stocking up on 4.3's while I can.

I've read somewhere that the new ballistec's are lighter than the vapors. Whatever happened to the vapor's being advertised by nike as a "speed oriented shoe"?

They still are, but now the Ballistec also is a speed oriented shoe, but with a bit better durability (hence the higher price (with all those "tech")). The only shoe with "best" durability Nike has, are the Air Max Cage now.

I absolutely loved the V9, it felt great, was light, and looked great, with the fingers across the shoe and the contrasting heel and tongue there were some really nice creative colourways. The V9 just looks so bland in comparison, and graphics on shoes? :/ Im thinking of moving to the ballistecs if they really are light and fast too...

@anhunyh16, thanks for starting this thread.

I hope we get some reviews from those who've bought them and tried them on court soon. I've still got 3 pairs of V9's to go through and a pair of City Courts. But love the color of these shoes and will pick up a pair if they're equal/better.

Given the kind of game Rafa plays... (From the marketing standpoint) IMO a "Durability" shoe is a better fit. Or maybe its just me.

YOu were a huge fan of the 9's.... so you are disappointed that they made minimal changes for the 9.5? Dude make some sense please!

I think if they can tone down the colors it will be a great shoe. It will never be durable so I have given up on that. But I think they are killing it with the 9s and 9.5s

I currently use the Vapor 9s on hard court and the Barricade 7s on Har-Thru. Barricade 7s, however hurt my right foot for some weird fit issue I have. Has anybody used the clay version? Thoughts?

Out of interest, how come you use V9 on HC and B7 on HarTru? I'm the other way around.

Can't help re the fit issue I'm afraid. I'm a huge fan of the B7 and have had no issues (top inside eyelet aside, but I simply lace that looser)

It seems to me that the B7 has more traction by the look of it, so I thought it would work better for Har-Tru.

I hope I see more creative designs from Nike since the side panel is one piece instead of separate fingers coming from the midsole.

Honestly, I'm surprised Nike didn't come out with a second colorway for the Vapors like they did last year and the year before that with the 9's. The red and blue combo seems a bit too outfit-specific for me.

There is a second one in the spring collection.

I guess it's for IW/Miami.

So, after getting my Vapor 9.5's last week, today I got the chance to play with them. Work couldn't let me earlier. So, after 1 1/2 hours I started feeling, then listening to a slight squeaking in the forefoot where the toes bend. Seems to be inside the shoe. Sometimes I feel/hear it, sometimes I dont. What could this be? Should I just take them back for a new pair? I'm a bit annoyed by it.

Take the insoles out of your shoes after every use so the shoes dry out. Many modern shoes keep your feel dry in-part by having absorbent soles under the inner sole. If they get wet it can make them squeak where the layers rub on each other. Dry them, put some talcum powder in them before putting the insole back in and see if the issue is still there.

This has fixed similar squeaks in V9s a few times for me.

So what shirt goes with the orange/blue 9.5's? Not the purple shirt I hope.
Yes, he'll wear the purple polo.
There's a purple/orange bandana on TWE that I assume federer will wear too. Maybe with orange wristband !

Maybe he could wear the birch polo too, as he only wore it in Brisbane.

They're the same, the only difference I noticed is the side material with the new graphic makes them a tad stiffer. Also the toungue is a little wider so it doesn't move around so much. Best shoes that I have worn.

Are Nike syncing Vapors and Ballistec colors now?

Another question: Are 9.5 more for wide feet? Should I not try to buy them if 4.3/Lunars seem good for the width?

I'm flat footed so my feet are wider and need a larger toe box. They work best for me. If that helps at all Paul.

Just picked up the new orange 9.5's. great looking shoe, I changed the orange laces with black though. The orange was a bit much.

Low-arched and wide feet here. Vapor 9s have been a nearly perfect fit compared to any other shoe I've worn for tennis.
